box in, diff in, all fluids done, test driven, cleaned in and out, ready for spiro to do his thing on Tuesday! hopefully all goes well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

while it's up on the hoist out of action I took the opportunity to change the diff. near new 3.73 LSD, it had been sitting for a while so I replaced the bearings and the studs were a little rusty so I replaced them with some ARP studs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

speaking to my trans builder, he said he's found the cause of the transmission failure and wants to give it another go. if all goes well ill pick up the box by the end of the week and fit it over the weekend and put a few km on it, then off for a tune on Tuesday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

anybody know of any reasonably priced, good quality turbo 400 conversion packages available? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

between me and my dad, we have a few stray 400s laying about the shed. thinking of just dropping one off to our local trans builder and tell him to take his time with it and just pay as he goes.. pretty certain I have a shifter for another project I can use. all just a matter of time and money I guess Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

did another box in on the dyno on Tuesday night.. th400 it is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

going round 2 with the dyno tomorrow afternoon to see if we can get a power figure and maybe a little further tuning if the box holds up, I'm interested to see what sort of power it's making Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

sounds pretty grumpy full tilt, especially at 6500 rpm on e85.. I was surprised how much the change of fuel changed the exhaust note! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

haven't spoken to my trans builder yet but if this is going to be an on going thing I will get it rebuilt again so it's all brand new and then sell the combo to someone who can use it (and more so someone who isn't so abusive) and most likely use a turbo 400 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

well.. I was running the box in gently on low boost which is 18 pounds, put about a thousand km on it.. started to load it up a bit, felt good.. changed fluid, wasn't burnt and had no foreign matter in it. ran through the motions after changing fluid (ran through all gears on the hoist and checked level about fifty times) put a few more km on it, switched eboost over to high boost which is 22 pounds, felt pretty good.. rolling along at 60kmh in 3rd cog, put foot down and broke out in violent wheel spin, all good. did it again and had a whole lot of engine speed and minimal wheel speed.. :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

it's a 4 bolt flange cat, so I can undo the screamer pipe and flange bolts, insert v band cap onto open plumb back port, rotate cat 180 degrees and bolt back together to have ext gate venting to atmosphere when ever I feel the need Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

very little at the moment, still having transmission issues :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

after many beers, a busted finger and a bit of swearing the new box is in and functional.. 3rd time lucky hopefully. going to put a few KMs on it before I go round 2 with the dyno. also re-tensioned flywheel bolts and welded them in place Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

mine was taking 360kw with ease before but with my latest mods I'm looking for about 450+kw.. also have quite a large bar and plate type trans cooler mounted up front.. was thinking about doing away with current cooler and mounting a mammoth cooler up underneath the tub where the spare wheel assembly once lived.. lots of room for a big cooler and fan/s. oh well I'll see what happens.. if it continues to fail I'll skip all the bullsh!t and go with a turbo 400. it'd just suck to bin the btr as I have spent a small fortune on trying to make it work. so I got my box back yesterday, hopefully fit up and run in this weekend then see when I can get back on the dyno.. how far have people pushed these 4 speeds? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

waiting to get the box built again. then can put it in and run it in for a while then back onto the dyno to finish tuning.. hopefully all goes well this time!

yeah I'm aware they're a pretty piss poor box, but was built to cop about 500kw.. and with an external trans cooler and a deep pan I don't think temperature would've been a major factor after just 2 dyno runs with the fan on the whole time, but could be wrong. guess ill just wait and see what my trans builder says about it.. if it won't stand up to my power goals and/or driving style ill have to look into a C4 / turbo 400 / glide I guess Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

okay so it's been on the dyno, drained tank, filled with united e85, fitted the 1000cc squirters. set a really rough tune as a baseline which consisted of 20 pounds, factory timing settings and quite rich afr which delivered 471 hp and 1080 ft pounds of torque.. then added some timing and trimmed the fuel up a little and chewed the auto to bits on the following pull... so now the box is out to be repaired and more so to investigate why it let go at such small numbers.. having very little luck with this thing of late

extra few hundred bucks would've got you a gtx core..still would've needed to get your flapper mod though.. it may come up for sale soon if you're interested Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

pit crew in Newcastle.. pretty certain aeroflow do a similar product too. sh!t ain't cheap though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

slowly getting rid of all the shiny stainless braided lines in the engine bay, replacing it all with this black nylon braid.. lot more stealth looking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

as far as I know an e boost is perfectly fine to use as long as you leave the factory boost controller wired in but not plumbed in. I wouldn't be able to do a lot of this stuff if my dad didn't have such a sweet shed and plenty of gear.. and people always wonder why I'm 23 and don't wanna leave home! haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

a few other random bits and pieces from along the way now have e boost knocked up an easily removable plumb back section did the coils and plugs the other day.. recommend these coils to anyone who has spark blowout issues, currently copping 22 pounds with a 0.85 gap with no drama what so ever found a photo from when it was first built by autotech engineering many moons ago.. made me quite sad to see how immaculate it used to be and then see the poor state it's in today.. but I guess it's hard to match the quality and workmanship of one if the best shops in the country on the budget of a poor man.. suggestions and questions most welcome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

oh and the fuel system.. welded another port on my surgey to feed another pump all black because stealth is where it's at ran a secondary factory fuel line and filter because stock parts are sweet and more so because I'm poor 1000cc squirters and waste gate seat fpr 1200 reg aeroflow billet dual entry fuel rail drinking beer improves quality of workmanship that's about it people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
