  1. for those interested, manifold is complete, blasted, painted and bolted up to the motor. have adapted/ made oil and water lines to suit. have all the gear apart from mufflers to get my exhaust done, just need to weld a vband flange to the turbine housing as I'm doing the entire exhaust with vband joints
  2. got all the pipes welded yesterday, gotta piece it back together and weld to the header flange and collector pipes and pray they haven't distorted too much (fingers crossed) then mill the flange surfaces nice and flat if need be and take to work on Monday and have it blasted ready for coating. then all down hill from there making an exhaust
  3. oh and the photo of the turbos is just a comparison, not hard to figure out which is which lol
  4. cheers mate, really appreciate it [emoji2] I made the turbo flange and split pulse collector (no particular knowledge or 'proper' design with the collector, I was just winging it) splashed out and bought a laser cut header flange because I'm too lazy to make one. I made that jig for the flange placement off a 6boost manifold that I borrowed from a mate. however his manifold was for a gtx45 which puts the turbine all but right against the rocker cover which I didn't like. seeing the t51 is a lot smaller, I moved it toward the strut tower 20mm and forward 30mm (hence why the collector is clamped to the jig and not bolted) and then basically just played join the dots while trying to not screw my own ass by making it too hard to get a dump pipe out the back or getting the hot side onto the comp outlet. I lobster backed the intake with some 3.5" exhaust pipe that I had laying about which will be getting ceramic coated along with the manifold and maybe dump pipe depending how the cash flow is at the time. and that's about all for the moment
  5. having drama uploading. if someone wants to volunteer to post them for me I can email/mms some photos of the mythical recent work [emoji13]
  6. haha I was waiting for that
  7. bit of an update. manifold is all fabbed up, just have to pick it all apart and weld the pipes up. once the turbo is 100% home I'll start to knock up an exhaust. also fabbed up a neat lobster backed turbo side intake too.
  8. thanks mate, I'm no gun mechanic but I don't mind giving it a go. my dad is a fitter/turner of 40 years and an ex drag racer so I've learnt quite a bit from him. as for the wastegate, I'd be pissing into the wind trying to give you a straight answer. but from my own experience it seems to help with smooth boost control upwards of 20 pounds (I've never ran any less) hopefully someone else can answer properly
  9. it has no turbo badge, can't see the cooler and it's pretty quiet (for now) so it's kinda sleeper ish.. but yeah it's no taxi on stockies. I'll give that a go ralph
  10. my tapatalk app reckons it needs updating but needs current IOS software which needs to be updated while connected to wifi which my phone refuses to do.
  11. kinda gay I can't post photos BUT I have my manifold almost finished. at which point I will then move onto fabricating a 4" exhaust right through
  12. okay so I acquired a T51r as a clean swap for my gtx supercore. which leaves me with a few left over goodies that may be of use to someone else. have a factory ford b series turbine housing set up for external gate, 4" xforce dump pipe , 3.5" stainless cat and APS stainless cat back exhaust to suit b series ute (may fit FG but I don't know) having trouble uploading pics so pm me for my number or further info
  13. yeah I was worried about running out of legs before getting through the traps.. I have the issue of not being able to use 17s due to the lowering blocks. I use pre AU 15s for skid wheels but they're only pretty narrow so I don't think they'd be much chop for the strip. I could use 17s but I'd have to raise it back to stock height that's all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. yeah I'm keen to hit the strip, just gotta sort out tyres.. what size would be a goer for 3.73:1 ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. dominello 3000rpm stall Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. spiro basically blamed it all on the converter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. any idea on the nature of the issues you speak of? the only thing I'm not 100% sure on is my intercooler.. I'm not sure on exact dimensions but it is fairly big and 4inch thick core. but it is a fairly old unit. other than that I don't know, the exhaust should be up to the job I'd imagine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. only 3000rpm stall, nothing wild. was my daily driver for quite a while so I kept it nice and street able. I'll ask him about it when I go back and see what he reckons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. very little, says the big converter is holding me up.. I'm aware they do soak up a bit of power but I've never heard of one robbing tonnes of power like that. I've seen very similar set ups making another hundred odd horsepower on other cars. I know it's not ALL about the numbers, it's about how it goes. but when I look at it, I made 40 less horsepower with a stock turbo AND 4 pounds less boost AND on 98 with an unopened engine.. quite disappointed to say the least. will have a chat to him about it when I go to get it touched up.. idles too low, stalls in stop/start traffic, stalls immediately after hot start etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. depends what you want, comp/core.. comp/core/turbine.. comp/core/turbine/gate.. if it's purchased complete with the wastegate, the screamer and dump pipe and probably also the cat could be worked into the deal so then it'd be a complete bolt on deal ready to run.. for a B series anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. taking offers on my gtx3582r, done absolutely F- all work (lucky to have seen 7,000km) if anyone is interested Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I agree, no idea what though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. if it made that sort of power on 98 I'd completely understand but I honestly thought it had a lot more in it using ethanol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. that's with united e85 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. tune is done. made 390rwkw on 23-24 psi. little disappointed as I thought it had a fair bit more in it but oh well sh!t happens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
