  1. How did you go with understeer after all of this? I followed your build back in the day and was keen to try it but was reluctant to spend money on the car for fear I would sell it out of frustration.
  2. Yes I have, an R35. Weighs almost the same as a Falcon and costs 3 times as much, probably why it can defy physics ☺
  3. Its the diff moving. The manuals are worse but the autos do it too if you drive them hard.
  4. My list of problems of my 2011 FG before getting rid of the car. In 3 years I did 36,000kms and it was predominantly driven by my wife. - Diff bushes replaced twice - Gear knob leather perished (manual) - AC regassed and assessed for continual issues with it not being cold. I traded it without a working AC - Passengers seat belt buckle replaced. - Both front interior door handles replaced as the handles snapped - clutch master cylinder replaced and bled multiple times as pedal would stick to the floor. Other general complaints, seats too soft and do not hold you in place when cornering hard. The thing handles like a boat for a "performance car". Dash panels like up poorly. Good points. Paint quality was the best of any new car I had owned. Engine was amazing but I do wished it had another 1500-2000 rpm in it. Gearbox took the punishment without a complaint (bar the crappy plastic master cylinder issues). Admittedly I went back to a diesel Landcruiser so in terms of performance I am worse off but I just hated the car in the end and was forever fearful that something else would break. Apparently I do have a higher level of expectation from a nrw vehicle than most as most people who own them can simply ignore the small issues that drive me up the wall.
  5. You are very correct. I see no point in selling the car as other suggested, as you say it is a family car - that is why it was purchased in the first place, not as a toy. If it was a matter of chucking in some XYZ brand shocks and coils and some bushes and adjustable arms and be done with it I was keen as I love the engine and ease you can extract more power! Think I just need to buy another GTR - cheers for the thoughts.
  6. Yes the Bilsteins were an improvement over factory, but it's like upgrading from Vanilla Ice Cream to Chocolate Ice Cream when you really want an Eye Fillet. Yes it's better but it's not going to satisfy my hunger haha.
  7. I've owned my FG since 2011, and it being my first modern Australian Car I've owned, (other than my first car VL Turbo some 15 years ago), I have to say I am very disappointed by the handling, the body roll, the initial understeer (even with decent tyres) and lack of steering response is really starting to get to me. The car is totally stock and has been used as a family car - family holidays, dropping the kids off at school etc but I've been contemplating trying to upgrade the suspension and doing a few usual mods to get a bit more power but have been browned off as I have honestly never driven a Falcon that could handle as well as I want one to. I have driven a mates BF with Bilsteins, lowered springs and the usual bush upgrades, but still left me disappointed. Other people have told me I will never get a Falcon to handle the way I want and not waste my time and start with a different base. Am I wasting my time as my expectations are simply too high or is there a way to transform the cars handling? I think my exceptions revolve around the previous cars I've owned prior to family life which mainly consisted of modified Japanese cars (Skylines, GT-Rs, S chassis' etc) which I am trying compare to. Can I ever hope to achieve this kind of handling without spending more than what the cars worth on suspension and a lot of custom fabrication?
  8. Is that the updated cradle on the right? Because it appears identical to my missus 2011 FG1 cradle. When were the new cradles meant to have been updated?
  9. Tried some Work VS KF on the missus FG I had sitting around from another project I had. F 18 x 8.5 +38 R 18 x 9.5 +18
  10. Actually, I sold a Turbo Diesel (D4D) Prado and bought myself a Patrol and my missus the XR6T, the XR6T is actually better on the highway that the Prado was. Around town is different ofcourse, but was about as fun as cancer to drive compared to the Falcon.
  11. My Missus XR6T has around 1500km on it now, so far it has varied from as long as 8.5l\100km on the high way to around 17l\100km around town with me driving. Average is like 13l\100km with the missus driving it around town. It's more economical than my Patrol
