  1. Hi guys, I have been informed that I'm able to use XR8 valve springs in the XR6 Turbo engine, my question is would it be the Barra V8 or the Boss V8? I'm pretty sure my valve springs are shot, my car is standard apart from a front mount intercooler. When it gets to 2nd and 3rd gear in the higher RPM range it seems to want to stall and shudder. I've replaced my coils, I've cleaned my boost solenoid, tightened the exhaust manifold, but the problem is still there. The funny thing is it only started doing it when I changed the fuel filter, but I don't think that's the problem. First gear there's no problems with the car, it revs right out with no shudder or problems. I have also fitted stock rims on the back of it, I know it might sound stupid but do you think that could be doing anything to the traction control? I run the vehicle without traction control. The only thing I can think of is valve springs, I give the car a hard time but it hasn't been boosted or tuned, it's got 170,000kms. Also if I have to go to the trouble of replacing the valve springs, I was thinking of replacing the whole head with an FG head because I would prefer the better intake manifold and obviously the better head and valve springs, but will an FG head fit on a BA bottom end? Thanks, sorry to go on about it but I'm trying to weigh up my options. Opinions and advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
  2. Thanks m8 Thought l mite have had some phoon ones on it guess not. cheers.
  3. I Had the same drama its the valve springs retarding not good best bet is some injectors do the valve springs and just get a flash and dash done by someone if your planning on a XCAL 3 also do yourself a favor and put a earls turbo oil feed line on it too before the turbo go's BANG TING TING TING Thanks for the advice mate. I know the valve springs are very temperamental in the BAs, I just read a similar thread to what mine's doing and it seems like it could be the coil packs. Only because my car had these modifications on it before and the car was running fine, it's only recently started playing up. I still think I'll get the Xcal, my car already has the Earl's turbo oil feed on it! The first owner must have learnt this lesson because I think the turbo has been replaced on it at some stage, the coil packs have never been replaced though and it's done 160,000kms. Also, do you know what colour the standard injectors are on a XR6T? Cheers
  4. Thanks gsd112, I've been wanting to get the Xcal 3 tuner, so this might be a good time to do it. Do you think it's strange that it only happens at 140kms or when it changes into 3rd gear? Appreciate the advice! Cheers

  6. G'day guys, I'm a recent convert to Fords, have to say I'm loving my 2003 BA XR6 Turbo to death, it's an awesome car, but I seem to be having an issue lately - it seems that at 140kms p/h the power stalls (feels like when you have the traction control on). As soon as it gets to 140kms it spits and loses all its grunt...it's only recently been doing this (last 2 weeks or so), sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. The only modifications I have are a straight through cat, centre muffler removed and K&N air filter. It already had these and was running fine, so I'm wondering if it is a fuel issue? Or whether it could be boost spiking (although I would think that if this was the issue it would be doing it throughout the rev range regardless of speed). It only ever does it at 140kms. Does anybody have an clue as to what the issue may be? Cheers
