  1. I don't have a T5 gearbox fitted to my car. I have had T5s in the past that have handled decent power without a problem though. The BA T5 mercury grey APS vehicle I'm speaking of also recorded a top speed of over 300km per hour. Read up on it. It's adorable that you think your opinion is the most important in the world, but this is just a car forum buddy. You might need to get in touch with reality there. Guess you can dish it out on almost every single thread to people who have a differing opinion to yours but you can't take it. Classic trait of a KNOW IT ALL DICKHEAD. 30 day holiday doesn't bother me the way it would bother you because unlike yourself, I have a life outside of a car forum. You should try it sometime.
  2. In response to ratter - how about, considering you're a tuner, you explain to me why a reputable company such as APS came to this conclusion in regards to the box? The review that I have read has stated this fact and from what I can remember they were able to manage a time slip with a high 10 second pass I believe. Also I am more than aware that there are lots of people running the T5 with 300+kw and haven't had any issues with their box. I understand they're not a very strong gearbox but everyone gives people so much crap for getting a 5 speed, whereas if you have someone who knows what they're doing with the 5 speed it appears that you are able to get good power figures out of them. It would be nice if a certain moderator of this site would stop acting like such a know it all dickhead.
  3. That's nice a all but really ones from Vic & the other is from wa that explains alot. And u can look up the APS review, their findings where the low down torque was the killer of the T5 by bring the boost in later they found the box much less likely 2 break in higher rpm.

  9. The 4 speeds aren't that bad, just check all the sevice history, test drive, etc If u have a tuner who know's what he is doing, u can get to 300-320 with the box pretty safely, but they are a hit and miss. If its been looked after should b sweet. That's if u won't 2 tune it aswell.

Bro, flog the f*ck out of it...they love it...provided it's a midweek freak lol...My mechanic was telling me a story the other day about a VG ute 5 litre that was flogged from the get go from the factory, he had done some work to a VS station wagon 5 litre, the wagon was apparently putting out 400 at the treads but he said the ute absolutely thrashed it. Plus you have warranty so if anything goes wrong warranty will cover it.

  13. Motors can take plenty of abuse, as long as they're kept up with oil the motor should be sweet, its the rest of the car you've got to worry about. An FG model shouldn't be too much to worry about, BA-BF you've got to start looking at swapping out plenty of suspension components, bushes etc.

  17. When my did this it was valve springs, the higher the gear the more load on the motor. plus its a BA its due for new ones. Try plugs and coils, but budget for valve spring.
  18. If its stock I give it a couple of weeks before they start f*cking up under load, if tuned maybe a day. Save the f*ck around and go genuine, Theirs a guy on eBay that sells them $255 to your door. The VDO are sh*t.

G'day mate, Have a little bit of faith in your T5 (although the T56 is a worthwhile mod, don't get me wrong), if you find a real good tuner (which is like a needle in a haystack, I'll admit), a tuner can make your T5 work. It's the low-down torque which destroys them, if you've got a good tuner he'll be able to tune it to suit, APS have already proven this with their T5 gearbox running high 10s, its all in your tuner. I really wouldn't bother with the exhaust system, I'd look at putting in a high flow cat and more high flow mufflers. By all means, a good 2.5" cat back system would be good but to sum it up, the best investment you can make is a good tuner.

I c your point, lm about 2 upgrade to a 2.5 soon but not worried about the flapper mod I only won't to run 15-16psi my tuner said not to worry about it unless it needs replace or your going over 15-16psi, currently car as standed exhaust with the cat kicked and center muffler removed 308.1rwkw on 10psi and that was on a mainline dyno. I won't to get about 320rwkw and ill be happy, then when it sh*ts its self FG motor in and bigger turbo and all the another sh*t theses things are money pit lol.
