Morning all. Found out that they've changed my sisters diagnosis, as they no longer believe she has leukemia. While normally this would be cause for celebration, it's actually not. She's been re-diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia, which is a rediculously rare auto-immune disease. It's similar to leukemia, but it's not a cancer. Instead, her bone marrow is dying. Last week I was told that I may have to have a blood test to see if I'm a match with her. Now this is definitely going ahead, as if the drugs she's on dont work, she'll need a bone marrow transplant. It's such a stressful time. The version of this that she has isn't contagious, isn't inheritable, and only affects 2 in a million people world wide, but she is the second person in my immediate family to come down with this illness. Blood and platelet donations will literally keep her alive. I know it's bad to wish an illness on a family member, but I wish she had leukemia instead.
