Hey my name is Igor, ive already mentioned in another post im starting out a long term project on a ex taxi I bought for $500. Already sold the front bumper, radiator and fan shroud so pretty much close to gettin the car for free. My plan is to strip the car down, remove engine, transmission, gas system, diff etc. Gonna buy a written off xr6 turbo and pretty much transfer everything I need over. My plan is about 400rwkw in the end, gonna look at the spool rebuild kit too with a completion deadline set for April, 2013 just in time for my 22nd birthday and my full license Replacing the body with a typhoon kit, fpv black agents for wheels and was considering a black respray with red flakes. Im pretty much 100% new to all this but am very dedicated to learn and appreciate any help along the way and will be offering jobs for slabs/cash too... heres some pics of the start! thanks If anyone needs any parts let me know im letting anything go.

anyone know the prices involved in engineering a NA to a turbo?

reached my post limit yesterday lol ive decided to go for it with a written off ba turbo...ill sell my boat after fishing season and will have about 6-7k to play with just from that...not sure about whether ill start gettin the power up to 300-400 right away while its out, id be interested in the rebuild kit most likely though

I guess I gotta decide my budget...and the power I want to achieve in the end.... I guess id say my goal is the 400rwkw mark so probly fg is the way to go?

I rekon that's pretty good...you can always strengthen the auto

dont get me wrong id absolutely love a fg engine but I just dont think I could afford to spend that much...is there much difference in the fg and ba setup? as in is there much hassle interchanging them or is it a straight swap?

I was estimating around the 10k mark, considering I can find a written of ba turbo for about 7k..leaving me about 3k for things such as bushes and anything else I need to replace...would also leave me heaps of spare parts that I could sell and get some cash back. ive got a car already so this project can take 5 years if need be how good are the ba turbo transmissions in terms of strength? swap over the engine, trans, diff whatever else needed

im only a part time gimp though... yehh sounds like what im gonna do. gonna be long considering im an apprentice but hopefully be done by the time im off my p's

really? isnt the independant gas engine different to the standard BA and T engines?

sweet yeh ill be buying brand new urethane bush kits for the front and rear suspension, new brakes etc gonna be a very long project appreciate the advice mate

Hey all, my name is Igor and I've been reffered here by a member with a xr6t FG. I have a question, im 20 years old and love cars, I bought myself a 2005 BA falcon as a project to only teach myself how to work on a car, it cost me $500 and is completely driveable until I started taking it apart. I have minimal knowledge but hoping that changes with this project. Originally my plan was to strip down the engine and just put it back together to get an understanding, the car runs independantly on gas as its an ex-taxi...now im considering building the car into something more. I wanna replace the 700,000km engine with a xr6 turbo engine and transmission, replace all suspension bushes/springs, lsd diff...etc pretty much rebuilding the entire car... My question is what sort of price figure using wreckers and the like to source parts and doing it all myself...would it cost to get the car running safely with the xr6 turbo engine? (btw I know I can buy a xr6 turbo for about 11k but I wanted a project) Any advice, info, help would be greatly appreciated! And ive been on one cruise and your cars are tough!
