why would Steve Ellery leave the team him and his dad owns? me personally I think Dean Canto will make a return, he got nothing but praise from the team and media during and after Bathurst
-
Maybe he'll join Luff in the #71 and #81 cars
-
it'd be the torque capacity of the transmission, the standards engine with only 380nm can tow 2300kg whilst the 450nm of the XR6T only leaves 1600kg I guess
-
can they match their chassis's to the engines though, that's the question........many of their failures the last year have been engine related, with the only other problem springing to mind is the front suspension at bathurst. after the performance boost Orrcon got with the SBR engines, hopefully we'll see 888 consistently in the top 5
-
I'd go with the XR8, more peak torque and doesnt it have the stronger auto box?
-
well shockwave is only the Replacement for Blueprint
-
umm....the cars already 450kw, its lost plety of value already...AWD may even increase it for its exclusitivity
-
the thing is though, some people dont think its enough....a fine alone isnt really going to teach them, as much as they play the pauper to the press about it possibly ruining them financially. I saw a thing on RPM about it the other day and that kieran wills must really be kidding himself if a) he thinks that story he gave will be believed and b) people will believe someone that was struggling to pu 2 words together, and after 2 minutes of stuttering had said absolute BS..

I dare say it'll be touch and go - Ford claim their standard brakes require a minimum 16" wheel, but that'd be the 298mm rotors with twin calipers, I dont know how the 302mm/single caliper setup would go, ive heard of similar setups still with 15" rims
-
Ive seen the manifold of the straight six out of a Cressida, and that exited as twin outlest into the cat
-
Well theres still the bigger brakes and possibly 1" bigger wheels......FPV will think of something surely..
-
Nothing about bigger wheels or anything for GT-P? Still XR8 based interior for GT? (without the fairmont goodies, its still way behind the Clubby for interior)
-
that's just bad.....looks like something you'd see on the back of a Telstra company car or something, get rid of the side doors, make it look alot less boxy and they maybe you'll have something that looks good

All fair points. Where do they draw the line I guess. Maybe if they made the XR6T 270kw abd the XR8 290 kw from the start maybe? but then what do we do the the GT and GTP. Go say 330. I guess the figures will just keep climbing, and wouldn't all the whinging goodietwoshoes groups just love that . The can't please everyone, but who it to say that the great Aussie V8 has to be fords most powerfull car? Mond sets can change. OMFG. the V8 boys will hate my guts for that little comment. Guess Ford got it pretty right though. Well that's smethin Ford's probably keeping in reserve. Although theyre claiming the GT is at its limits naturally aspirated, theyre surely continually trying to get more and more. alread anyway, DJR have shown them up with the HP320 and still say theres heaps more in the cams, heyve just got to play around with the rev limiters a bit. Theyre still yet to modify the Xr8's standard valve lift and compression I believe

gti-R man, after reading all you've said on Ford shouldve made the XR6T 270kw from the ford go, I feel I gotta say something. You've pointed out that Ford acknowledges that theres the Typical V8 buyers as well as the 6 cyl buyers, but ontop of that theres the performance buyers and those who'd go after whoevers claiming the higher numbers.....IF Ford made the XR6T 270kw, they may as well take the XR8 off the range, as they'd already have the 6 cyl, performance and #'s buyers going after them, and I'd be willing to bet anyone dedicated to V8's, wouldnt want to cop much more at the bar from the XR6T owners with faster AND more powerful cars, and to top it off, theyre cheaper as well....Sure, if the XR6T's taking sales off the XR8, its still money in Fords pocket, and sales to Ford, but if you had the choice between an XR6T and XR8, went for the XR6T cause it was the better car, just to find out you'd be up for several months on the waiting list, would you begin to consider something like a WRX or an SS?

I've never met the guy thankfully, as I said, friend of a friend. If I met him, I probably wouldnt be able to stop calling him a f*ckin d*ckhead....when I first got told my friend convinced him into a BA, I was like "yeah, seems like an everyday thing". then I got told that he was going to do it up. after my suggestion to go straight into the XR6T, I got told it was too expensive.....I was trying to tell my friend that Fords already done the hard yards on the XR6T as far as development goes, and for basically $10K, what you get over an XT is a STEAL (bodykit, nicer interior, ECU already turbo calibrated, turbo already installed, exhaust manifold already made....)....still said he thought it was too expensive (depite previously saying the guy was loaded)....I didnt even bother when he came up with the VY idea....now I cant help but think what he'll have to go through to make up all the different mounting brackets and modifying the front crossmember etc, all before he can mod it up.

The Territory is somewhat based on the Falcon, but for he most part I think its unique. It relies on more of the hardware like engine, transmission and interior to cut costs
-
Some people have some wacky ideas I tell ya. That there has alot of potential, but a friend of mine was telling me awhile ago that one of his friends just bought a VY (dont know what trim). My friend eventually convinced him to get a BA and sell the VY. He's told me this, as well as the intentions of the guy to end up putting a turbo on the BA, which was only going to be an XT, as he had plans of going all out. I was asking him why didnt he just go for the XR6T if that was the case, but he thought he could do things cheaper. Now ive heard hes keeping the VY, but putting a Barra182 in it
-
which ones more than likel going to be the easier to drive on a daily basis though, you could well imagine how hard someone could find driving an XR6T with 12" tyres on the back on a Detroit Locker
-
Has anyone actually had a good look at the rear end of an XR6T to tub it....unless its a ute, its not as simple as getting the tubs, youve got the control blades in the way. You'd have to think about converting back to a live axle or something... If youve got the money to get an XR6T to 450kw, then converting it to AWD must seriously be playing on your mind. The weight disadvantage will be no where near what it is between the GTO Coupe and Coupe4, as 1. HSV have higher standards so they have to do more, ie more weight, to get it safe enough and 2. the BA Chassis is stiffer than the VY/VZ so where there was a 150kg gain on the Coupe4, have a look at the difference between a RWD and AWD Territory and its a measly 80kg, almost half. Just remember though, that the Territory's system relies on the Bosch 8.0 stability control system, so unless you want to get a couple of LSD's allround, have a think about the software needed.

If you must go old school, I reckon have a look at putting a Sprintex on there, considering you take off the upper intake, there should be plenty of room with the bonnet bulge. Otherwise, Herrod and CAPA have their jointly developed 400kw kit on only 8 psi for about 7-8 grand, but CAPA for $16K have a 700hp kit (525kw)
-
I disagree about the bonnet scoops, from what ive seen of them, the opening for them is too far forward
-
wouldnt the point of maximum power increase occur between 2 places though?

I bet it makes you wonder if you shouldve given tennis more consideration when you chose AFL
