Was at Rob's yesterday. Plan is to get a couple of thousand Kms up, Then we go extractors and 3" system. He is getting, on average 22 extra RWKW's from the XR8 & says the 290 will gain the same!.. Enclosed some pics.. Hope they're not too big!

Hi Guys.. Yes have been out driving (+ work commitments!).. Will post pics tomorrow ,I PROMISE! 1st impressions are this, in comparing the Pursuit to the XRT. ( after 400 odd Ks in th 290) The Pursuit is like a Bull on steroids!.. It is a BIG vehicle,& feels it! It exudes sheer GRUNT, massive low end torque, & the rush, when you reach 3 1/2 odd grand ( not to mention the intake & exhaust roar) is something else! It handles like it's on rails for a big mother.. however, the leaf sprung rear does give some "moments"! If accelerating over ANY road inperfection, corrugation or similar, axle tramp causes momentary, instant traction loss ( AND this is in the dry!) It doesn't falter or attempt to get crossed up, it continues as straight as a bullet , But you just know there's wheelspin happening, then it will bite again & alls fine!... disconcerting, just the same! ( why they didn't put IRS in ute is beyond me?) BTW, this is NOT up near 6000 rpm I'm talking 3- 4 grand!. Apart from that, no one can wipe the smile from my dial! The "T" ,on the other hand, ( which now has 5000 ks on it).. Is a "Gazalle"... It is refined, feels "nimble".. light on it's toes, It has oodles and oodles of sheer "go", & is SO much more forgiving and easier to drive. Balanced is another word I'd give to the turbo sedan! BTW both vehicles are manuals. & regardless of other reports, I can't seperate the T5 & the Tremac in shift performance?.. Both are long throw shifts , clunky, & VERY Ford "toploaderish"!. The guys looking at GT sedans, I reckon might just get the best of both worlds with the BOSS grunt, the sedan IRS rear, & hopefully inherit some of the balance that the "T" has?.... regards Charlie pics tomorrow!

Must be THE day for it??... Mine also ready for pickup at 3.00pm today ... And wouldn't you know it?..Wet roads!! 1st bit of rain ALL week. ( Be interesting with 290 kws & NO T/C! )
-
I'll have a go at that!... Be interesting to see what the 290's are at the wheels?... I'll keep my eye on the post to see if the numbers stack up? ( 10, you say?, shouldn't be a prob!)....Cost?... But, definately count me in!
-
Daz, the Pursuit is a "MAN'S toy"! The "T" is strictly for collecting kids from school, supermarket duties, & maybe leisurely Sunday family outings!
-
No worries Chris!.. After all , I DO owe you!.... You were the one that put me onto Westpoint & Wally originally, ALLLL those long months ago!... Tomorrow I find out whether the wait was worth it?.... Which, if yesterdays 1st impressions are anything to go on... I'm CERTAIN it was!! Thanks mate!
-
NT, Qld, NSW ??.... and THEN mine???....Typical Ford! ( doing things arse about!! lol ..Thanks Rod  .... Just came from Westpoint.....AND It's THERE!!! Yehaaa!... Looks awesome.. Tint, body glaze & Fri arvo.. ALL MINE!

Ringing around for a tilt tray at the moment!.... Problem is "Rakishi" on the gate at FPV?... Seriously though... It SHOULD be at Westpoint tomorrow ( So Mr Waller tells me)... And MINE for this W/End!! yehaaa!! :D You have a great trip Mondie

-
Saw a great looking HSV Maloo R8 today! Hmmmmm!
-
OK, I have my SIDO, I have my insurance, I have my VIN No., I have my rego plates, I have my "FPV gate pass signed" ( that apparently means car is free to go).. I even have my build No. ( Pursuit 023)... BUT I DON'T have my bloody ute!!... 3-4 days to get the car from FPV to Westpoint Ford! (Ummm, say 25 ks down the ring Rd?)...Really the "red tape" here is ridiculas?.. then a coupladays for tint, D/Del, etc, etc. Be bloody Springtime! :( ( anyone got a tandem trailer?)
-
I'm past the point of stressing over it!... I've Tried & Craig has tried ALL avenues!... If I had of ordered any other colour it would have been here weeks ago. I suppose one positive Is I'll have the 1st pursuit in blood orange!... Today is the 1st time I've gone direct to FPV ( been going thru westpoint or cust service) And really was a pleasant surprise to be told step by step & in detail, the problems that have caused the wait... Anyhow, at the end of the day what can I do, But wait?.. BTW.. where did you order from?
-
Grrrrrr!!!... .... put back AGAIN!!... looking like next Friday?... spoke to FPV direct today about the holdup. And they could not have been more polite or helpful. Besides the rims , which affected all the range, My holdup stems from being Blood orange!.. colour matching of bodykit, & now the hardtop. also Ford originally had my seats with black stitching, now restitched in orange. ( they opted to change this during the course of my build).. Anyhow, waited this long............
-
Congratulations Mondie!!... So, decisions, decisions? ..The colour is the hardest bit?.... I think, & have been saying for months, that the GT (& for that matter, the XR range) are lacking a nice bright, solid yellow?.. How long do you have before you have to nominate the colour?.. And one thing about your wait is, you still have the old turbo to do the shopping in!... Anyhow, once again, congrats.mate, AND welcome to the "big boys club" !! lol
-
That "Mod cars" thingo is a Great way to pick wheels!... The Advanti AZTECX Hyper Would look good on a GT! ( Suspiciously similar design.. BUT much better looking)
-
Re: road side assisst, Words were "our closest guy is in Essendon"... "And we don't travel more than 30 k's out of our area"... She got the number from the service label ( 24hrs service+ roadside assist, 1800818623)... Now, whether this IS FORD ROADSIDE ASSIST, or the selling dealer, I am not sure of?.. Regardless... There was a definate lack of help!... & Once again, WE ( car enthusiusts) KNOW that a 16" steelie is good for more then 80kph!... My wife( as do, most women) tends to "read & obey" !!
-
Guys... My fault for not forking out for the 5th alloy. 2 complaints I DO have .. 1/. WE all realise that the vehicle would be safe at 100k's with a 16" steelie & monza.. But a woman reading THAT sticker on the spare, then proceeds to create traffic chaos down the Calder highway travelling at, "not a K over 80" ! 2/. I suggested she ring Ford Roadside Assist to change the wheel ( as she didn't even know where the wheel brace was).. Their reply... "sorry lady we only service a 30km radius of Melb"... Where's THAT in the fine print?..
-
Ok, So I knew! ( cheapskate Charlie DIDN'T spend the extra on spare alloy).. And so it happened today...Wife ( with kids in the car) rings from just outta Serpentine ( near Bendigo)..Front R/H tyre flat.... Instructed her how to change wheel... etc etc.. She phones back.. "the spare has 80kph max speed on it"..My comment..."you're f.....g kiddin"...What is this? one of those "space saving" wheels as on the BM's? Anyhow, she arrives home, It is a steel 16 with dunlop monza. Do they (Ford) Intentionly "torture" us to drive at 80 ks all the way down the Calder highway, just to cover their legal arse???..... Anyhow, In the market for another 17 alloy XR6 rim & tyre.. Also, any pointers as to what I should be paying for a new 17" SP3000 as the tyre is stuffed.
-
The Only, ONLY "possible" way that I would "possibly" consider an auto is if it was Triptronic on the wheel?...Nah!... forget it!.......LUV side steppin that clutch, MAATE!
-
MAAATE!... One day you'll appreciate a "little thing" called... CLASS!! ... This ain't about "blowin anyone's doors off" !!
