  1. Not too sure but I think the same thing might be happening to my BF Turbo. The car has started overheating but the cooling system seems to be working ok, I have seen it go up to 3/4 on the temprature gauge. Also when I put my foot down sometimes the turbo seems to drop in and out. I bought the car modified, it has had a custom tune by Kalamunda performance, 60lb injectors, fuel lines and pump and an exhaust. I took the car to a mechanic last week but he couldn't fix anything. Could my motor blow if I continue driving it in its current condition? I recently had to replace the turbo after a blocked oil supply line and didn't get the car retuned, not sure if this could be causing the problem? Thanks
  2. Car is all sorted now, thanks everyone. The guy who repiared the turbo said in the past week he has had to rebuild 3 Garrett GT35's. All up it cost $2,410. $1750 for a turbo exchange, earl's oil line and other parts. $585 to remove and fit the new turbo plus new oil supply lines $75 for a tow truck I think everything is going well, letting the turbo bed so I haven't been able to properly test it. Thanks, Adam
  3. Hi Guys, I have the car booked in to be fixed this Tuesday. My dad and I are going to tow the car to the mechanic using a tow strap. Is it ok to do this? and also where is the best place to tow the car from? I could not find the front tow point and I don't think it is the owner's manual. Thanks, Adam
  4. Thank you all so much for your help. Just called MTQ in Malaga, WA. They quoted $1,727.00 (incl GST) for a turbo swap, new oil line and filter and a one year warranty. They also said, depending on the condition of the turbo, they could repair it for around $1,200. I would have to get the turbo removed and put back in again by a mechanic and he said this would cost around $1,000. I will try to find a recon turbo but I like the idea of the one year warranty. The GTX3582 core would be good. Thanks again
  5. Hi Guys, I just bought a 2005 BF Turbo Ute. Its done just over 101,000kms and has few modifications. About a week ago the turbo started making a slow grinding noise everytime I would turn the car off, even with alot of careful driving and idling. Tonight whilst driving, the turbo started making a much higher pitched noise above 2500rpm. Sounded like metal grinding on metal very quickly. The slower grinding noise when I turn the car off sounds like the bearings and this new noise is just scary. Does anyone have an idea on what the problem is? Also does it sound like I would need to replace the turbo and how much would this cost roughly? as I spent all my money on buying the car. Also if I were to drive the car, could metal shavings get into the engine? Think I'll be catching the bus to work tomorrow. Thanks, Adam
