Hi Flow Cat Or Deleted Cat Converter...b Series
camdawgs replied to camdawgs's topic in Exhaust Workshop
Had a sudden powerloss over the past few weeks...took it in...got sensors and some switches fixed up...was running insanely good for a week or so...now gone back to what it was previously... not 100% sure it is the Dented Cat converter...but signs point to that it is. Needs to be changed if it is the case -
Hi Flow Cat Or Deleted Cat Converter...b Series
camdawgs replied to camdawgs's topic in Exhaust Workshop
Yeah I know its not legal but dont want to chuck more cash a car that im parting from. Was mainly concerned with the sound of no cat... More than happy with my quad 2.5 system now though -
Any1 running no Cat in their B series turbs or F6? ive pinpointed my powerloss due to a dent in my Caback ( pretty certain) so I need to replace it. options are to get a high flow cat in replace or considering removing it all together because its cheaper ( im selling the car shortly and don't want to spend money on it) How do they sound? DO they need a tune for either of the above options? Could I have issues with removing the cat with the computer not liking it and cutting boost? thanks

Hay just trying to figure if their is something wrong with my car or if anyone else has experienced the same problem I drive a 06 BF F6...6 spd auto No modifications Those that have driven/drive these vehicles will know the lil trick of releasing the accelerator at the right time and generally changing gears will give the BOV a little flutter...as standard... ive owned the car about 2 years and this has been the noise I have been hearing until 2 days ago As I pulled out a shop carpark I accerlerated and released for abit of a wank factor and it made the big PSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT noise that all the Jap cars make when they drop boost between gears. I checked when accelerating normally and changing gears manually, in performance and in normal drive and unless I take my foot of the accelerator the car does not lose boost between gear changes. Now I LOVE this sound so much better than the original flutter...but my questions is how this may have randomly happened and could this be a problem or causing any damage to the vehicle?

Hay guys I own a BF typhoon. As of the last few weeks the engine has been running slightly rougher on idle and doesnt sound too flash on idle ( alot louder than normal)....I have also noticed quiet a loud sound that I similar to that of the induction from the turbo but alot louder and it occurs even when not on boost. Have not noticed any performance issues or any other problems just its not sounding too healthy. It is due for an oil change and we will be having a closer inspection at the problem as well as doing the change later this week but it still has only been less than 10000 km since the last change. Any ideas what this sound could be?

Bf Typhoon Running Hotter Than Usual For No Reason?
camdawgs replied to camdawgs's topic in Engine Workshop
put it over the pit found no extensive damage underneath and really couldnt find a problem...decided to replace the thermostat...its been 3 days since we done the changeover and the problem has been fixed -
Wasnt sure where to put this as I dont know exactly what the problem is atm. last week I took my car to a new car wash...the wash itself was excellent!!!! but to the points, they had some kind of mat thingy on the ground that was raised off the ground...maybe to do with water drainage?? and as I entered/exited the car wash the underbody of my car scraped on it pretty badly the whole way through. Now since that day approx 1 week ago my car was been running slightly warmer than usual. Usual my car sits about 5MM to the left of the middle line on the temp meter...lower on colder nights. Since this incident my car has consistenly been building up to smack bang in the centre of the temp gauge, causing the fans to activate. I have noticed that the more throttle I give the car the temp goes back down to normal. Now their has been no real issue with this temp rise but its definetly odd and unwelcoming!!!! *To take note...I changed the engine oil roughly ever 5000-7500 KM and at the last change did the coolant. We replaced a house that went just off the heat exchanger into the intercooler..I think, cant members as it split and pissed it all out!!! was running fine prior to this fix..also serviced the trans approx 10000 km ago, full flush and replaced plastic pan with steel. Now before I put my car over the pits on Monday just wondering what everyones thoughts on what the issue could be and if it could be a major issue ( any issue is a major issue for my baby!!!)

Recently experiencing a problem with my Inalfa Sunroof in my bf typhoon. looked in the owners manual and the instructions in their display a 1 2 and 3 button for preset positions for the sunroof. Mine only has an up and down button so im assuming its an aftermarket one? currently the sunroof auto shuts when I turn the car off, but for the past few days it has been shutting 1 position out of flush so it sits abit lower than the bracket. if it rains water will go into the car as I went into a carwash sometime back when this happened and my roof started leaking...but the problem fixed itself somehow!! anyone else had dealing with these sunroofs, know of a dealer in SA that may have installed this?

dont have the weight of car off hand but its just your standard ski boat, inboard motor> pretty heavy! and yes car would have to enter water/ go along dirt tracks...but majority of boat ramps we use have been concreted over so traction wont be a HUGE issue
-
Just wondering how low people have gone with their cars which is used to tow their boat. I currently have a bf typhoon that I is on ultra lows or super lows ( dunno). buts its damn low and I scrape on a sh*t tonne of things. Unfortunately I bought it like this ( knowing I would want to tow the boat) but the deal was too good to pass up. Now im assuming that putting a towbar on my car with the current suspension setup just simply would not work due to ride height of the car causing issues as it is. In saying this I still like a lowered look. Just wondering how low people have gone with their vehicle while still being able to tow/launch a ski boat safely

ive got the same problems in my BF F6. I also have major issues with whenever I give it the boot the box/rear of the car makes a loud thumping noise, thumping back into gear. Also get the same noise when going from full throttle and then quickly shutting it off... Its not THAT annoying...for me its more the issue of...what kind of damage is this doing?
-
house!!! personally I would save for a GS...a supercharged 8...what more could you want? that or a FG F6...but im not a real fan of the appearance of the FG ( yes I know the GS is stil in the same shape but,...supercharged 8?)....but in saying that I couldnt justify spending that much on a BF, no matter the KM's and cash poored into it. It really depends what you want, do get buy without people noticing you or to stand out from the crowd, I chose to stand out from the crowd. But I made it my mission that after I get my house my next vehicle will be the a brand new charged 8, sad to say Expensive Daewoo or ford! in conclusion > GS>FG F6>BF F6..and save a fair bit of cash

wouldnt mind coming along and taking my foon out for a run!!!
-
im just curious as to whether this is worth doing with a stock example. Will I still get a decent noise from my BOV if I block it if we are running a standard vehilce with standard boost?
-
just a bit of an update. dont around 1000kms since servicing my box with Guld Western. At the moment I ma noticing, alot more than before . Large thudds at gear changes. Under small loads of boost and large, both on drive and performance mode> more so in performance. Slowing down in performance, 2nd to 1st is always lurchy and when giving it a boot the thudd it gives when dropping back is definetly noticeable. Also the their seems to be an increased "Burning smell" or at least a smell of the something heating up when even just giving it very little amounts of stick for short periods of time. When I service the car this weekend il get my mechanic mate to have a look at the fluid and box when we put it over the pit.

had a huge in depth discussion with the fella down wheel workx. Pretty much only way to get these things on my car is (a) 20" rims ( if they will even fit under my guards) or (b) 19" with massive spacers, which essentially will stick the wheel out heaps and essentially be the same size as the 20's unfortunately this rim seems like a no go for my car as I do not want the rough ride of the 20's
-
I think at the moment wheelworx do not have them in stock in adelaide> and if they do its only in 20". And unfortuntely their is no Ozzytyres in SA. Im not keen on shaving anythnig on my car!!! I might go down to wheelworx and explaint he situation and see what we can work out!

I recently picked up one for my BF typhoon and the dealer said the FPV range all came under the same category with these parts...although I was slugged $250!!!. I was also told that if the heat exchanger kills my trans they will pay for a rebuild> 1 year> 20000km warranty
-
wow you just threw alot of numbers at me!!! very much confused ... but from what ive taken out of what you said is that I need to order in a set of 19"x 9.5, 5/114.3 35 as a test kit? by your calculations should these fit on my car? will the spacer affect anythig? im guessing these are not legal
-
After some info on thes rims, after contacting local tire joints in Adelaide I have been led to believe the 19" version of these will not clear the brembo brakes on my phoon, where is the 20" will. Unfortunatly I have huge doubts as to whether 20s will fit on my car as it is dumped to all hell ( dont know what springs) and the 19"s only just clear as is ( currently running standard phoon rims, not the twisties or the Dark Argens). Just wondering what are my options here on getting these rims fitted to my car as I NEED THESE RIMS. they come in the followingg sizes 19x8.5 19.9.5 19x10.5 now unfortunately I have no idea what any of these numbers mean except the first number is the size of the rim! Is it a bad idea to put spacers on a car that you regularly give a hiding? will it affect any other mechanical aspects of the car. Will tyres for these rims be any different than that of a normal 19" rim? thanks

all these advertisements about sharing the road and how we must look out of cyclists? You want to know how to avoid car cyclist accidents? dont ride your bike on the road..ride on the footpath Car vs Cyclist, Pedestrian vs cyclist. I know what I would rather hit if I were a cyclist
-
I hate cyclists!!!! always have to avoid hitting these spastics who think its ok to ride in a f*cknig pelaton ( group of riders) on the road, taking up 1/2 a lane of traffic. Even worse when your going up through the hills and theirs no areas to overtake these dickheads. Thank god they only really come out when the Tour down under is on. When you see a commodore/ricer come speeding up and weaving in and out of traffic just to catch up to you and tailgate you wanting to give you a run Guys who drive girls cars. Seeing the P plates in the back window of an old lancer or excel, Having a bit of a perve as you go past, only to you horror you discover its a guy!

.5 seconds> half a second!!!! yeh I payed $250 for my heat exchanger. Also I spoke to Ford about the corroding of them and they believe it to mainly be from the cause of people mixing the wrong % of coolant going through the systeM> not buying the appropiate pre mix stuff. Was quoted $55 for 5L and they reckon I required 10 litres for a full flush of the coolant but I opted not to do it this time
-
Ended up getting my trans serviced at a place in Adelaide called MV automatics. was charged $550, + 250 in which I supplied 20L of the Gulf Western oil. included the steel pan and the installation of my heat exchanger. Only used 11Litres of oil. The old oil definetly was off colour and needed changing soonish! Overall I was content with the pricing and outcome of their service. Pretty much smack bang on what I budgeted for/ expected it to cost. I automatically noticed a difference in smoother gear changes. Especially in manual mode; previously it took probably about.5 seconds for the box to change gears when manually changing, now it changes instantly. They also sell that same PWR kit that goes on ebay for $580 installed with snap on fittings and good hoses, I think I will be looking at getting that done when the warranty for the heat exchanger expires.

getting my box serviced in the next 2 weeks. Went to a few places and most of the joints dont want to use anything but genuine oil but I think this is generally because of sheer lack of knowledge. Looked around and getting 20L of Guld Western Syntrans for $230 from Motorworx. Phoned a few places ( even gulf western recomended supplier on their website in Mount Gambier) and this was the cheapest price I could get. Been quoted $350 for a full flush, steel pan and filter. Im pretty happy with that. Was also looking at getting the external transmission cooler done while I was at it. But due to the lack of options on the market and the mixed reports I have decided to just order a replacement Heat exchanger from Ford. My car is virtually stock and I dont give it too much stick for more than 30secs at a time so im pretty confident it will hold up. I also got told by the ford rep in the sales department that " if as a result something goes wrong with your vehicle as a result of the part we supplied we will cover repair costs"...comes with a guarantee warranty thing. But I highly doubt ford will be forking out for a new box !!!! also when speaking to the sales rep she stated that when searching for a heat exchanger that their was no Specific R-Spec one. That the BF typhoon exchanger was classed in one category. Is this right? I was after the R-spec one because I was under the impression it was bigger than the standard phoon one. Will let you know how it goes when it all goes down!!
