  1. yeah mate, I thought it was strange aswell. it says on the form, in caps, you cannot run the car on petrol and you must use a cat. pisses me off because its just more $$$ but im probably just gonna use the std one of my xr6t ute haha. the falcons were running windsors since EBs im pretty sure, because the clevo never came out with injection. but yes heaps of parts, and cheap aswell!
  2. yeah if I had the money I would of done a gen3, as aparently they can run underwater. but this whole conversion cost me under $4k. I never really looked into a barra conversion, I just assumed they didnt exist as this is the first iv ever heard of it.
  3. the guy advertised it as a 51 windsor, I thought it looked to big when it arrived so I checked the engine number and its a 1972 351 clevo.im not sure which is better really, dont know much about the oldschool fords. yeah mate, just got the forms back (probably should of waited for that before I did the engine swap lol) saying that its ok to put that motor in the landy, although it has to be straight gas and have a CAT. now I just need the engineer to give the thumbs up and it will be all good. after I put the 33" tyres on (31" is standard) the old 3F-E, 4L straight 6 with about 100hp at the flywheel new, many many years ago, just wouldnt pull it anymore. sitting at 110 on the fwy was about 3/4 throttle and useing 110L or $75 of lpg in 260kms lol. other thing I noticed was stroker kits for the clevos are getting quite cheap, $1500 for a 409ci kit. kinda wish someone would make a bellhousing adaptor for the barra to fit.
  4. yeah its running on straight gas, so the fueling system took about 20mins to sort haha. dellow conversions do a universal clevo mount kit which also made life easyer. have only taken it round the block and its not running right because either lack of backpressure or gas carby needs tuned. cant do anything untill I sort out this bloody exhaust flanges. cant wait till its all working. should sound awesome thrashing up sand hills.
  5. cheers mate. not to bad for 5 days work, 2 of which were spent verry hungover haha. if only I could be motivated to work that fast all the time.
  6. hey, not sure if this is in the right section or not, but I thought it might be interesting for a few of you. so I did this all in the long weekend a few weeks ago. it would of been fun if I wasnt stressing out because it had to be done in such a short time so it could be out of the workshop before the boss came back from holidays. bought a 351 clevo rebuilt 50k ago with cam (he sold it as a 51 windsor, not sure if this was a win or loss for me...) landcruiser 4spd auto (just as a spare because it was cheap) a part time transfer box (for mud donuts) bellhousing adaptor and shiped from adelade to perth all for $2k only major PITA was the sump (already custom to make it hug the bottem end) was not clearing the brace for the panhard rod, so the brace had to be cut and modifyed. its all in and running, all I need now is the exhaust. its got XA factory log exhaust manifolds which have a wired flange on the back. NOBOBY sells this flange, anywhere!!! cant run extractors because they wont fit. so I guess I need to make them or find a exhaust shop who will atleast try.
  7. block the BOV all togeather. or buy a VL, but who would do that? cheers
  8. myaree trimmers did my headlining from my old 4x4, was absolutly shagged, needed alot of repair work. repair and recover came to $250 from memory. I removed/refitted it myself though. couldnt belive how good it came up. as said above. go black, will look mint.
  9. myaree trimmers on mccoy street are also verry good if that's more local. the guy comes across a little grumpy but he does great work.
  10. care to drop the name of the place doing the turbo work for so cheap? pm me if you rather. cheers.
  11. they dont use falcons for taxis for no reason. the taxis are getting 1,000,000kms out of the motor and box unopened. I have heard about people having to rebould the turbos at 100,000 on ba/bf, not sure about the fg turbos, as im pretty sure they have the same core I would imagine they would be the same. the turbo and diff bushes would be the only major things I would worry about. apart from that its just wear and tare on the interiour and stone chips/scratches which are more likley on a high km car.
  12. yes, they truely are a piece of sh*t! I see so many fords with buggered center bearings. its hard to see from the pic, but get a hold of the tailshaft and push it up and down, if you can see a split in the rubber that holds it then its f***ed. they are cheap and verry easy to replace on the other hand, unlike some cars. so dont pay through the nose for it, nearly any workshop will beable to do it, unless youre still under warrenty ofcoarse, then get ford to fix their own mistake.
