  1. Burson driveshaft services in edgeworth. $275 out the door. Includes new uni, and bush. Now to book it in!
  2. Wow. When I was getting tyres put on yesterday, the mechanic at Jax tyres quoted me $375 to replace the bearing. $240 for the part plus an hour or so labour.
  3. When I first investigated a replacemet bearing I assumed 35 mm for turbo/v8 aswell. But that doesnt seem to be the case.
  4. SHP, needing some help. Obviously by the pics I need a new bearing too. My car is a BF. and im unsure as to weather I need a 30 or 35mm bearing and whether it is a press fit etc. Just wondering whether you can give any info on this for me. Also I think mines a uni joint. In the pics you can see a sir-clip where when removed the pin will just "fall out".
  5. Lol. Well if by uni joint you mean the two U sections that go together, that's the same as me. Il have to have a look on saturday.
  6. Im in the same position as you mate, up for a new bearing as we speak. Ford quoted $293.50 for a new one, but im thinking of trying a $65 one from ebay. Big price difference. Only thing im unsure of is if I need a 30 or a 35mm bearing. My car is a BF mk1.
  7. Hey bionic, finally got to my car this afternoon and checked the bearing. Well you are 100% correct. The rubber is completely shot. Do you have a rough price in this part? Or will a $65 one from ebay do the trick? http://bit.ly/1cDgtgX Cheers bionic.
  8. Hey freaky, sorry for the extremely belated feedback, the brakes suprisingly dont feel a heck of alot different, I didnt replace the pads just roughed them up and stuck them back in, they are bendix pads. But all my shudder has gone and near no squeeling anymore. Which is a +1
  9. The knocking sound is still there after I have been driving around with no sway bar on the rear. So you think it could be the driveshaft bearing that's causing the strange quick knock, Il check it out. Thanks bionic
  10. The damn bushes clapped out and the nut pulled through the hole. Cracked all around the hole as you can see. So out with the mig and welded the cracks up the best I could in the space I had. Lucky the linkage is still ok. $40 for 2 new bushes + nuts from ford.
  11. As the title says. I am getting a bad clunk at the moment which has just started. And for a while now I get a bad really fast knocking sound coming from the rear on takeoff when I let the clutch out (mainly when the car is under heavy load). It is quite bad with a box trailer on too. All the 3 bushes seem to be intact all I could find out of place under the rear was what you can see in the pics. The passenger side doesnt even have a plate on it and looks to be sunk back inside the bore. The drivers side plate is sticking out above the bore and the bush inside the bore also looks short. Sorry if the explanation doesnt make alot of sense or if the pics arnt the best. John.
  12. Sorry freaky. Havent been and done some good braking yet. I got the brakes bled today after I wasnt happy with my bleeding (turns out there was only a tiny bit of air in the front drivers caliper). But the bloke told me to let the old pads wear into the new rotors for a while before smashing the brakes. So will get back to you in a few hundred kms time
  13. Painted calipers + replaced front rotors.
  14. Whats pissing me off is waiting 4 days for westpac to finalise our home loan. And having 2 days left to get the depoit in. -_-
