  1. So I was backing into the garage and just glanced the drivers wing mirror cover. It flicked off. No damage to the mirror, no damage to the cover. Now I'm left with the two pieces in my hands and I am trying to figure out how they go back on. Is there some sort of trick to it? Does the mirror need to be folded in or out to get the cover into position? I see the top half fits in after the bottom half, but I can't figure out how to best maneuver the bottom half into position. I literally have no space either side of the garage and it is belting with rain, so when I moved it forward to try and see, I got drenched. I'm not kneeling in the rain any longer on pebblecrete with long wet hair dripping into my eyes trying to figure it out!! Thanks... Apologies for my stupidness in advance, it is probably ridiculously simple, but too hard to figure out in the rain! Terri
  2. I noticed it the other afternoon. I had about 60km of range left and at first I didn't realise the noise was coming from me. It was raining and there was a tonne of road noise where I work. Then I realised the gurgling was in fact coming from what appeared to be the back left of the car. I had to fill up before getting on the f3 and it disappeared. This morning I had about 40km left when I noticed the gurgling started up again. It last until the 20km range mark where I filled up. I threw in enough to take it to 150km range and it stopped. Fuel pump? I'm in the last year of the 3 year factory warranty so if it's on the way out I'd rather know now and have them fix it before it becomes my problem. Thanks
  3. Just thought that I'd let you know that it is still going strong and the shudder has not returned. I still brace myself waiting for it, but so far so good. I'm still surprised at what a common problem it seems to be. Terri P.S. Any updates Pete?
  4. I thought that you would probably like the details Pete, so I saved them for you and will message them to you I hope it gets resolved for you too. Seems that this is more common than we first realised! See there was my problem. No manual garage door to distract me
  5. Got my car back and the shudder is gone In the job description it says: I did tell them when I took it in of the info previous in this thread and they did seem to know what I was talking about.
  6. I only run mine on 98 too. The fact that the car drives perfectly normally means that I am not hugely worried about the issue, however I like to have my things all pretty and perfect! I just rang Ford and booked it in. I take it in tomorrow afternoon and it will be there overnight for Friday. The service guy seemed to know what I was talking about, so fingers crossed.
  7. No. I changed them the same day. Just got around to answering
  8. Super, thanks! I appreciate the answer, I hate going in and saying "it does this weird thing". Everytime I do that they tell me "we couldn't find what you were talking about". Or as I sometimes suspect, "we didn't bother looking". It's twice as bad being a girl... "We didn't bother looking, but we have a nice pretty second hand Festiva you should consider; look how shiney it is!"
  9. No. It doesn't do it in neutral. The second I put it back in drive it shudders again. In neutral it starts normally. Slide it into drive an it shudders. Slide it into neutral quickly and it stops. Back into drive and it shudders. 8-10 times and then it's done. I have no clue. Dirty fuel filter? Idle issue?
  10. I don't know. Only one way to find out. I'll go try it and report back...
  11. Being a girl with girlie sized hands, I don't have to remove anything to get to the lights :sungum: I was having issues with the plugs. Apparently the same girlie hands are not strong enough to squeeze the sides of the plugs easily. So you win some, you lose some. I changed to the phillips +100%. I wish they were white, but I need the extra light for the dark roads I travel on. I had the really white lights, but they just didn't produce the same amount of light. It does look a little odd at the moment... I have really white parkers and really bright, but yellowish headlights.
  12. Imagine you have one foot firmly on the foot brake. The other foot is pumping the accelerator repeatedly. The car wants to jump forward and rocks back and forth. That is exactly what happens when I start my car, except I am not actually doing the whole pumping the accelerator thing. It only occurs when the car is cold. Car is in park, foot on brake, turn the ignition, car starts and then does the weird surge/rock thing 8-10 times. It is not a slight rock, it is really obvious! So obvious that I've had a few friends and my mother ask me wtf I am doing; nothing mum, I swear!! Foot nowhere near accelerator! It ONLY does it when cold. It drives perfectly normally once the surge stops. I can't make it repeat the movement until the engine is cold again. Any ideas?
  13. Thanks all. The car has not been modified, (yet). I was In D, just crawling behind someone who wanted to take the entire Commanarra Parkway, (Sydney Street), at 45-55km/hr. Yawn. Car was at around 1500 before it spiked. There are a lot of ups, downs, twists and turns in the part of the street I was on. It surprised me as ive never really experienced it before. Perhaps it was just slowing down for me? Not a cruise issue, it wasn't even on. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll check the thread to see if anyone has any others.
  14. This has now happened to me twice and I was hoping someone could shed some light on it. I have a 2010 FG XR6T automatic. I was following someone this morning I was going about 55km/hr. I'd like to point out that the cruise was completely off, so it was not using the engine to slow down, I know what that feels like and this was different. I tapped the brake, (the person in front of me was soooooo slow), and suddenly the revs jumped to 4500rpm. It seemed stuck on 4500rpm, despite braking more or accelerating more. It only righted itself after about 5 seconds when I hit the flat and started back uphill again. The revs dropped back to normal and the car did this little surge and it went back to normal. What gives? This is the second time now.
  15. My dealer says the manual is "in the mail", so quick question... Is there any trick to removing the headlight globes in the FG XR6? Changed the parkers in about 5 seconds, but the H4 globes didn't want to budge and I didn't want to snap anything. Yank harder or is here a trick? Thanks
