  1. Dont need brakes. They just slow me down. Still cant get pics to work properly :(
  2. Season done and I finished a slightly dissapointing 3rd. So now its time for off season shenanigans. I pulled the motor back out so we could give the bottom end a health check and all is perfect, which is great. A couple of things will happen over the break. First is a colour change back to the sweet candy green the bike was when I first built it. First to be done is wheels, then bodywork later. The new old colour. My old streetfighter headlight. Next is the upgrade to a stand alone Link ECU and Cdi. So I ripped all the wiring out of it today. All up, 7kgs of stuff came out. I was racing this a week ago.
  3. Hahaha time wearing it is the only way to wear it in. Which is unfortunate if you only wear it once every two months. Theres something to be said for buying from a shop where you get try it on.
  4. Friday nights ftw. In depending on dates and if I get a better offer. I really need to take a look at my brakes first.
  5. Haha sorry Steve, cant make it. Kyle, I need a month or so before next maint day. But no worries, we can do it. Did your 6x9s fit in without mods?
  6. Went like crap Gordo. Bike ran hard out of the gate and PB'D the 60 with a 1.39 but then went flat for the rest. Coukd only manage 9 1's. Pulled it to bits a couple of times at the track but couldnt find an issue. I'm going full stand alone ECU and CDI next so those issues should go away. I still got third in the championship though. The bike that flipped is my engine builder and tuner Brett Ghedina who races in my class. I was two bikes back as it was our first elimination. He had been having wiring trouble with his boost controller and as he two stepped it, he saw "Critical Error" come up on his boost controller. It was an elimination so he had to run and he thought it would only go to waste gate pressure. Instead it went to full boost as he dumped the clutch (lock up clutch so meant to be dropped at the line) and away it went. Considering his bike now pushes out more than 500hp at the tyre at about 32psi, you can understand why. He said it sounded wrong, but then the lights started counting down and he just went to auto pilot and threw the clutch. Hes run 7.3 before and is trying hard to be the first no bar bike in Oz to run a 6. He's gunna write it off as he had been thinking about updating anyway.
  7. Thanks Kyle. I'll do that. Do you know if they screwed straight in or if any mods were needed?
  8. I'd like sound deadening more than anything. Also a non destructive way to get some 6x9s in place of the small ones behind each seat.
  9. I'd probly be interested in that. id love to sound deaden the crap out of the cabin.
  10. Well, after removing and resealing my diff cover at the maintenance day yesterday. I let the goo go off overnight and put some Penrite 80W/140 synthetic in after work today and went for a drive. I immediately noticed the diff was heaps quieter. In fact Id almost say dead quiet. Dunno if that was because the diff was probably three or four hundred ml down due to the huge oil leak or from the new oil, but I'm guessing its the new high quality oil. Hopefully my reseal job holds up and I don't walk out tomorrow morning and find 1.9L of brand new diff oil on the garage floor.
  11. Thanks everyone. It really is a privilege to have everyone over and all those cars on my lawn and in the shed. I think the only actual work done was my diff cover seal. Maybe next time we should make it a car wash day.
  12. Better tidy up my shed a bit then I guess. That might stop the boss from complaining for a while. And yeah. 11am is good. But earlier is fine too if anyone wants to get a head start. Marko knows where to go.
  13. I think if its a warm day, the air will be terrible this week.
  14. The weather might be a bit wet, but everyone who's been to my house knows there's plenty of room to work on two cars undercover so no dramas there. I might just convert the sausage sizzle into party pies and sausage rolls. I'd better pull finger and get diff oil and a gasket. Hoping its not the front seal.
  15. Yeah 20th is good. I've got waste oil drums for guys doing oil drops.
  16. Im pretty sure we landed on the 20th. If its tomorrow, I'd better get my finger out !
  17. any recommendations for diff oil for the ute?
  18. So after an awesome result last meeting, I qualified reasonably well but the engine developed a noise that I didnt like. Turns out its losing comp from one cylinder. You can hear it bypassing to the exhaust so maybe a valve is damaged or somethings happened with shims. So I just lined up for the first round, took the green light, switched it off and rolled back to the pits. So at least I got first round lose points. but Ive still lost my second place in the points. So out came the motor today....again. hopefully its not bad and I can come back for the last round and get some points. I'd post a pic but this forum upgrade is pants.
  19. Looks like I've got a leaky diff so I better get some diff oil and a cover gasket. Need to check out my fuel filler door too which has decided not to close properly now.
  20. This Wednesday is also a test and tune day for next weekend's top fuel round. So the track will be well prepped and grippy. There were a few broken cars after the last tnt the other week so watch your axles.
  21. The rendering looks funny. but I'd be interested depending on how many ks l do per week at the time. Right now I'm at about 10k per year cos I commute on the bike, so the poor fuel economy wouldnt piss me off too much.
  22. Yeah it was awesome. We were watching on the big screen from the pits, pissing ourselves laughing.
