  1. Got my engine back, threw it back in the bike and will finish off the install today. Now I just need to make a final version of the battery/cdi box at the front and it's about ready to get the new wiring harness made. I also collected this last night. Hopefully with the new Link ECU and CDI in the bike next season, I can get the bike to perform more consistently and I can finish higher up the order next season.
  2. Okay. We'll call it quits. I should be available for others depending days, dates and times.
  3. Well. two cars isnt a cruise. Might as well do it another time. John?
  4. not good news Gordo. I'll run the cruise. No need for maps if there's only a few of us. Meet at midland gate carpark between 8.30 tonight and 9 for 9pm sharp departure. This is the intersection of lloyd and Gt eastern hwy. Basically, the corner across the road from HJ's so you can eat first if you want. The run will end up SOR somewhere that I havent decided yet. Stops will be short but final stop will be where we can get coffee and probably start with Mac. ps. If you're a cop. Dont come. cos we'll know.
  5. Are we going for a drive tonight?
  6. I've previously tipped a hand full of nuts and bolts in a tank and then shook the sh*t out of it. Your rust issue is a lot more severe though. I also used a two part sealant that gets poured in and you just turn the tank over and over so it coats all the surfaces. So far its still holding up....I think.
  7. Tilly Dog says "A+++ would lick again" I had the Michelin Pilot dyno tyre refitted to the rear as it'll need a retune with the new Link ECU and fitting a CDI will mean it wont run out of spark energy and limit boost. This bike should then push past 400hp at the wheel.
  8. No worries. I'm likely to be finished with it after next weekend. Maybe even today if this all works out.
  9. Here you go Luke. I was only bending 2mm ally with it and it did it fine. It's limited to 90 deg bends though and I will want over 90 so I will probably do a bend and then use a wedge to get the extra 45 I need. Or I will use a hammer I soon learned the clamps that hold the top plate need to be closer to the job. The handles just slip in and out. Not screw in. It's a little fiddly to set up and stronger clamps to the bench would be good. But it does the job. You'd be most welcome to borrow it if you don't want to buy one.
  10. I have 285 Kuhmos on the ute and they do hold it better than the previous Falken 452's. But they were nearly on the markers.
  11. Haha not me painting it. But I do look good in a onesie. Before clearcoat After clear and ready to bake.
  12. The earlier colour schemes on those R1's are still the best.
  13. Finally, my wheels are on their way to being green.
  14. I will try not to forget this one.
  15. Hahaha used to be something like that. Although I was never one to name bikes beyond "the black one" or "the turbo bike". The orange bike did start getting called the Ranga because there are two turbo bikes.
  16. The young bloke got the race fairing for our GSXR1000 K6 dragbike project. I took it up to the painter who wasted no time in shoving a palm sander in my hand. I've been dealing with Niall at Straightline2ten long enough now that he's happy for me to do the monkey work to keep cost down. Especially as we're painting two bikes. We still have to do all the fit up and mounting yet, but at least its now 80% ready for a coat of primer. I've also been fitting the quick shifter and shift lights to his bike. Once my wheels come back and I can make my chassis a roller, we'll strip the wheels and everything off this and get the prep for both paint jobs on the way. For those didnt click the link before. the colour scheme for both bikes will be like the GSXR for their year, but using this green and pearl white. Going to be very sexy.
  17. Actually I did, now that I looked for it. Oh well. Maybe next time.
  18. ahhh man ! I got distracted and forgot this cruise till this morning. Didnt get a PM though so I'm blaming Kyle
  19. Will do Luke. If its the one I think it is, its a real basic jobbie. But will be fine for my little job.
  20. Nobody I know has one of these so I found a basic el cheapo 30" press brake fo $99 that I'll grab tomorrow from Automotive Paint Tools and Equipment on Gibbs st, just over the other side of the railway line from the Carousel. If you're in the area tomorrow before 1pm, I recommend stopping in and having a browse through. The place is like an old school Aladdin's cave with shelves and shelves stacked with all sorts of stuff you never knew you wanted run by a couple of crusty old dudes that know where everything is and not a computer in sight. Its a cool old place.
  21. Thanks mate, that'll be good. Although I dont know when I will get to do mine. Got two bike projects on the go, one is a full rebuild, the boss wants overhead cupboards in the kitchen and we're now looking at going on a (boat) cruise in June. The car is the last thing I mess with, cos it aint broke. I can hear my poor wallet whimpering.
  22. Does anyone have a little plate bender I can borrow? I have some 2mm ally plate I need to bend up into a battery, ECU and CDI mount for the race bike and dont want to buy one just for that.
