As long as you've got the right rated tow bar, you should be fine. Remember, a standard rated tow bar is something like 750kgs. But the boat ramp could be interesting. Why dont you invest $500 in Hayman Reece tow bar and try it first before you lose thousands selling your car and spending thousands to buy a fourby? Unless, of course, you really want a fourby. I always advise people to go with the 90% rule. Buy the car that's most suited to what you do 90% of the time. As long as it can handle the other 10% reasonably well, then you've got right car.

Soft ! Think of me down at the drags wearing leather from head to toe! And THEN I put my riding gear on for my races! There's people in the pilbara that work in heat like this every day and more. Try it, you might not die.

If anyone is wandering the pits at the Top Fuel meeting this weekend, keep an eye out for my Charcoal coloured FG MKII XR6T ute parked behind my tents in Third Avenue. My bike is a black GSXR1000 streetfighter with no poofta plastic on the front, just twin headlights and MX bars. Race # 4246. Ask for Phill, I'll be the big fat bloke sitting on my arse pretending to be fast. If you time it right, you might even get a chop or a snagger.

Hey Arronm, have you got one policy that wraps all of your bikes and cars up into one? I have QBE insurance and have seperate policies for two cars and three bikes, it's a PITA.

The limiter may be set at 5800 but stock tachos are not that accurate so it would be hard to tell. Its probably showing over 6k anyway. I'd say that your smaller diameter tyres have reduced the final drive ratio and made the car rev a bit quicker through the gears. Too quick for the trans to keep up with now, so it's pinging the limiter before it gets a chance to realise it's time to change. Sounds like you might need to shift manually to take advantage of the shorter gearing. It'll be a new challenge for you to both go qucker and maintain some consistency.

Mine shows both. Sometmes it shows a number which increases as I slow down until it switches to Litres per hour when I'm stopped. Other times it shows zero. Dunno why it does different things. Wierd.

This is cool

Mika, There's a lot more traction at the strip, so a car with power and/or sticky tyres would hook up a lot harder and is far more likely to bust something in the driveline. Fluffy I hear you mate. If I was looking at Streetfighter power, I would be thinking differently as with that sort of outlay and output, I would be heading for some track action. I would be expecting to lose any warranty because I'm after big numbers But I just want a tune up to take adavantage of what's already in there and maybe get some suspension lowerage. It I <3 Bananas burns my arse that Fraud and Expensive Daewoo see fit to refuse to replace an o2 sensor because I fitted an exhaust, or refuse a trans claim because I fitted a cold air induction. A decision to buy this warranty insurance with engine mods is all about piece of mind and I've read the warranty contract and spoke to the guy from KPM. It seems like a reasonable thing (don't forget, an insurance company underwrites warranty's, not KPMs pockets, eg; IIRC, Expensive Daewoo use Swann Insurance for their genuine warranty) So, if the warranty is good, and if I spread the premium I pay over and above what other tuners would charge for the same thing over the three years I will own the car, it would cost me less than a feed at Macca's per week. The components fitted in their stage 1 tune are the same as what everyone else bolts on so there's no issues there. This leaves the question of the quality of the work. It will come down to Pro Auto's ability (or my confidence in them) to provide a good tune. It also brings into question the Ford dealer who has agreed that, for my commitment to have my car serviced with them or Pro Auto, that they will cover warranty claims that are not directly KPM mod related. ie; I get an oil leak in my diff that Johnny Ford would normally refuse because I fitted some chrome spark plugs. If they do refuse any warranty claims on the basis that I have chrome spark plugs, then the KPM warranty takes over. Fluffy McD, I'm not ignoring your advice, or anyones for that matter, just seriously considering the option. I'm not out to beat the world with a dyno sheet, I just want more than what the Falcon puts out now, safely and if I can do it with a warranty, then it's worth a serious look.

My apologies, the shop that does the work for KPM here is Pro Auto in Canning Vale not Active Auto. Pro Auto are also well known to the Commie guys. The main restriction is that currently the only dealer doing servicing that will maintain the KPM warranty is Titan Ford as well as Pro Auto's. They are working on expanding that list though. But I assume Titan have a mobile guy who can come and service my car at work so the only time it would have to go to the workshop is if there's warranty work to be done. I'm thinking I might give it a run and see how it all goes. it'll be expensive and hopefully I'll never have an issue with a claim but the comfort of having protection for the next three years is worth some money.

That is pretty much the size of it. The only thing I've seen that I don't like is that any kind of motorsport will void the warranty straight out. But at least it's clear. The only thing I could find in Ford's warranty was mention of using the vehicle for purpose other than it was intended for would void warranty. So no trips to the strip then. Really, all I will get is Stage 1 tune which an X3 thingo, tune and filter for a claimed 350 flywheel kw's. So as long as I have confidence in Active Auto's ability to tune a falcon, then the warranty conditions are the only concern.

Will do Fluffy, thanks for the heads up.

Guys, KPM have a deal with Active Automotive in Canning Vale to fit gear and tune the car. Active are well known to Expensive Daewoo guys, dunno bout Ford people though. The Ford dealer they use for servicing and warranty is Titan Ford in Melville. I've asked a few questions regarding the KPM warrenty Ts and Cs and we'll see how we go. I'm aware of XFT but thought I'd look into this option.

I'll have a whinge when I drop it back to the stealer tomorrow for the tow bar, maybe I'm not holding my tongue right. But it doesn't appear to be a stacker to me.

XR09, I used the Satnav today and it worked fine. It's not as simple to use as a tom tom but I guess once you learn it, it would be easy. I have a blackberry torch and it hooked up fine. It show's the names of the callers and callee's, however, my missus rang me today and it only showed her number for some reason. But that could be due to the phone, Blackberry's do stupid things sometimes. I plugged in my ipod nano today and had my step daughter play with it when we went for a drive. It can be controlled by the twist knob or by the touch screen. It's fairly easy to use and shows albums and artists and all that crap, but I'm rusty with ipods and kept getting lost. I don't think it switches the ipod off with the car though. I'm a bit cheesed that the Luxury Pack didn't extend to an in dash stacker. Somebody tell me I'm wrong but doesn't compression of music on to MP3 players reduce the music qaulity ? I'm sure they're not as loud either. Android, I dont know what system the satnav is. The ride on the 19's is fine, if a bit noisy. As far as load rating, I didn't ask. I would never put more than 350 to 400kgs in it anyway so it's not a concern for me. Those questions could be answered by your stealer though. As for hard lids, I'm not a fan. I think they're inconvenient unless you rarely put anything bigger than 2 feet high in your ute. My tarp has already been off and on for load carrying, and I've only had it two days. Hard tops look nice though. So I went full noise on the throttle today and I noticed that it pulls good at the beginning but not very hard in the top end (maybe deceptively fast). I'm having a think about whether I want to do anything about that. I already contacted KPM about their packages with warranty a little while back, has anyone tried them ?

Yeah would love to Murdok, but there's an ANDRA round on that weekend so will have to be the next one.
-
That makes it perfect for me the Dillz! Personally, I love the front end. It's probably the main reason I waited for the MKII's. That and the fact that I didn't want to spend money on a MKI and straight away be driving a superceded model.

Picked this up yesterday arvo. XR6T Ute in Edge Colour with Luxury pack, reverse sensors fitted and Reece hitch which will be fitted Monday. Luxury Pack comes with 19's. I'd like to make them charcoal colour. It also needs to be a bit lower. I'm thinking of taking that bar off, I think they are a bit Kmart. I'll have a look when I pull the tarp off as I have to move some furniture around today. Hopefully I can get a good price on a non holey tarp. Leather Interior and upgraded...ummm..stuff Stereo is okay. I'll play with it and decide what to do. But 6x9's and a 10" sub behind the seats, if they can fit, may be in the near future. This bit works good ! I haven't put the boot into it properly yet but a few squirts here and there were enough to put a smile on my face and make Mrs Boges giggle a bit. The only thing is, as soon as my missus heard the indicators going, she started humming this song ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PZ0G4sroEw&feature=related Sound familiar to FG owners ? It's kinda cute but a little ghey. Note there's no turbo badge. I pointed it out to the salesman and a couple of them went into a bit of a flap and raced around the front of the car to pop the bonnet ! That was funny ! So far, it's nice to drive. Certainly better than my VE Berlina but that's got 120k on it. A fair bit of road noise comes through from the rear of the cab but no diff noises so far. At this time, I'm pretty happy with it.
-
No badge from factory. I had the salesmen scrambling to check under the bonnet when I pointed it out hahahaha. No plans for mods besides tint, stereo and maybe lowering. The lift is for motorbikes mate.
-
They're getting around now. Spotted this MKII 6T ute today...... in my garage !!!!! Note the lack of a turbo badge. And at the stealer. Needs more low, and I'm not in love with that roll bar thing. Will be clocking up some k's tonight !
-
I think that's it. The turbo's have the dodgy fake chrome driving lights. My new turbo ute is on a truck somewhere on its way west, apparently. Maybe I'll get it next week.

So I understand what valve bounce is, hell I've done it a few times myself before rev limiters were invented. But how does that make it hard to restart the car?

How about "MY sh*t IS BLOWN"

This is one of those conversions where your first thought is "why didn't you just buy an XR6T?" But then I really admire someone who just has a go anyway. I hope it goes well for you and that everything "non turbo" in the car holds up well. Kick arse result !
