Fg Xr6T Ute Manual 0-100 Times And 1/4Mile
Boganspeed replied to tfc's topic in Drag and Circuit Racing
I saw one of the guys on here with a stock manual sedan doing 13.0's at kwinana a while back. Also saw a stock auto sedan do 12.7 at 110mph on Wednesday night. New owner believes it was untouched but I'm not so sure. -
Noticed this when unloading the wheels and nitto NT05Rs I used on Wednesday night. At least I know they were sticking to the track ! Need more tyre pressure I think. Was at 23psi. Will go back to 30 next time. 12.3 @110mph with a 1.86 - 60ft

TC stays on Marco, but if the road conditions are such that the tyres will let go, I don't think TC will do much to stop them. Most of the time the car hooks up and drives and it's predictable in it's power delivery, but I was just a bit hamfisted with it on a less than grippy surface and it let me know. As you know with these cars, it only does what the idiot with the loud pedal tells it.

My ute provided me with a little wake up call this morning when I gave it a squirt on a bend in Welshpool. It boosted up and started to send the car into a 2nd gear drift at about 70ks in which my anus snapped shut almost as quick as the throttle body. Apparently my anus could be heard from 50 metres away. Note to self - Respect the ute. With a bit over 400hp at the bags, this is not the same car it was a few weeks ago.

Date Change: Wa Xr6T Maintenance Day - Round 2 - 23Rd March
Boganspeed replied to Boganspeed's topic in Western Australia
So today was a success, not many people had much work to do though, SteveR had to change his front discs and pads, which didn't go as smoothly as he hoped but valuable lessons were learnt. XRFool did an oil and filter change on his Boss XR8. The rest of us just stood around, pointed at stuff and enjoyed the show. So overall, not much work was done but it was great to catch up with everyone and look at cars and stuff. The most excitement for the day was when Steve almost had to do the drive of shame and take a borrowed Late model camira home for the night. He only narrowly avoided that one. Thanks to everyone that came today, it was a real pleasure to have you all over. Tony, no probs if you want to play with the tig and plasma cutter next time. I'm rubbish at both but I'm sure you can make a good stab at it. I'd imagine other guys might want to have a try too so that could be a good show and tell. -

Done Zads. Perfect weather for it tomorrow too ! -
Interesting thing TJS was that I was at the Kwinana Motorplex on the weekend and a young kid was competing in Super Sedan in ( I assume) his dad's ZF GS ute with race tyres on the back. I asked him how he was doing and he said 12.7's. Then I asked what had been done to the car. His dad said it only had a tune and was putting 370kw to the wheels. Those two numbers didnt add up for me though as I know there are 6T's that are making less and are going quicker. Could be that dad was bullsh*tting me, or got his RW and FW KW's confused.

Righto everyone, this is tomorrow !!! I've sent messages to everyone that has showed interest in Round Two that I havent previously given my address to, but if I have missed you, or you've lost it, just post up or PM me and I will send it to you. So far we havent had many guys with actual maintenance tasks they want to perform and this is pretty much what it's all about so post up if you have a list. I have pretty much all the tools you should need and have some drums for waste oil if anyone is servicing. So far, I just want to trial fit my BA wheels and NT05R tyres on the back of the ute and maybe have a look at what I need to do to get my KPM airbox to fit with the Nizpro intercooler I now have. -

Tried this today on my mkII FG and noted the solenoid appears to be in a slightly different location to the mkI that makes it a bit easier to get to. But being lazy, I just undid the hose from the turbo and squirted some RP7 in there. It took me longer to get a photo of it than to actually do the job ! I decided to do this as I just got a new nizpro cooler and I think the bigger volume might have affected the time it took to build boost, so I thought this might help a bit and I'm pretty sure it did.

Near enough to $900 fitted Kyle. Simon reckons theres a few more ponies hiding in the valve springs, am happy enough breaking the 400hp barrier but more has got to be better right?
-
Yeah stock turbo. Waste gate mod, id1000's, nizpro cooler and debunged exhaust. Unfortunately my lovely kpm streetfighter CAI won't fit with the nizpro pipe work so have a temp set up on there ATM till next week and it'll either be modded to fit or the stock set up will go back in with a k&n and will sell the kpm set up.

Got the ute back from XFT. 300.3kw at 4800rpm goooood Failing valve springs over 4500rpm baaaaad :( New valve springs and some top end poke will be installed next Wednesday.

Okay, Round two is on Saturday 23 March (was Sunday 24th March but its now changed to Sat) at my place again. For those that didn't get the address last time, just let me know and I'll PM it to you. This time it's from 10am until everyone has had enough and wants to go home, so hopefully enough time to get everything done that people want to do. As mentioned previously, I reckon I have most of the tools that anyone should need (I now own a filter strap too), you just need to bring whatever fluids and filters etc that you want to change out. I have a trolley jack and jack stands so you can get under your car safely. I have room in the garages to work on two cars at a time plus plenty of driveway space if you're not scared of a little weather. I'll throw some basic crap on the barbie and put on some soft drinks and the odd beer as long as you're responsible. Post up and show interest and also what you would like to achieve. Remember, you will be doing your own work with (hopefully) knowledgeable people around to lend advice and a hand if needed.
