  1. I rode an ER 6 kawasaki a few years back and loved it. Low seat, lightish weight and torquey motor. I immediately felt comfy on it and thought what an excellent bike for a new rider ! Recently I put my money where my mouth is and bought the new version which is a Lams ninja 650 RL for my missus first bike and I was right! I'm 6ft2 and nowhere near a lightweight and I feel comfortable riding it, even restricted, it's still torquey and there's a few accessories around for it to personalise the bike. Cruisers are cool and stuffl and I own a Harley bagger as well as my three GSXR's but a bike like the ninja will be far better to learn on and far cheaper to repair if you happen to take a tumble or topple off it at low speed light my wife did.
  2. Crikey ! I was just sitting on the back patio after packing up from a massive birthday party and it twigged that in all the f*cking around settin everything up for the boss's birthday, we forgot all about this cruise ! Spewin, although the weather was a bit dirty. Will do better next time :(
  3. Looks like I'd better drop the price on the VE Berlina I'm trying to flog off.
  4. You don't have a shelf in your garage ? Also, I have always wondered about the scum thing. If petrol sloshing around doesn't keep the scum down, I don't know what will. If you're worried about algae and stuff, you could try Fuel Set which is especially for that sort of thing. Although it could be just an expensive bottle of metho http://www.liquideng.com.au/fuelset.html
  5. Steve my faded memory tells me that we'd put metho in the tank when we found evidence of water in float bowls on carbys. Usually a few drops clinging to the inside of the bowl when we'd lift them off if the car was not running right and we suspected water. As for the amount to put in, some research would be a good idea as it was 20 years ago and my memory is somewhat less than photographic. Going with Ralph's suggested couple of cap fulls would probably be the better way to go.
  6. In t' old days, we used to stick a litre of metho in the tank which was supposed to help the water dissipate and mix into the fuel and get burnt up by the car.
  7. Had Phil from Final Drive Engineering in O'Connor straighten my bent axle today. It was done by lunchtime and because it was that bad, he managed to straighten it without removing the wheel bearing so it was cheaper to do. Only $165 wobble in/drive out. I can't believe that price and a great guy too. Three thumbs up for this supplier.
  8. Is that wanneroo Kyle ? I'll be there Sunday flogging some sort of "V8 Supercar" around the track. No idea what sort of cars they are but I'm sure I can find the redline.
  9. Yeah Josh, that's him. I did ask if he had better axles for FG and he said he didnt, but I'll talk to him more when I drop the ute off. How much was your new tail shaft ? I saw an F6 corkscrew one a few weeks back on a Wednesday night and I dont want that happening to me.
  10. Just FYI, XFT told me to contact Final Drive Engineering in O'Connor to sort out my bent axle. Final Drive only straighten axles, they don't have any uprated versions for sale as he mainly just does 9" diffs. But for an extremely reasonable price, they will remove, straighten and refit my axle. So it's booked in for Monday. Very friendly bloke there too. If anyone has any leads on stronger axles, I'd be interested in hearing about them.
  11. I use spot free rinse at the car wash, then drive home and run over it with the chamois there. Basically because I'm lazy.
  12. It's a good point Steve and I plan to seek advice as to whether there's a better alternative. Ultimately I'm thinking of a true trac centre because ford are obviously not capable of procuring diffs that dont whine and hum so I will make sure the axles are interchangable first. I don't want to be scared to take the car to the track next time in case it does it again.
  13. Yeah, guards full of molten rubber won't help much either
  14. Hahaha so you can make the second half of the cruise then !
  15. So I pulled the back wheels off and this is what I found :( I seem to have cured the squeak by chamfering the crap outta the edges of the pads but time will tell.
  16. Take an extra $50 for a crap hot dog and a bottle of water.
  17. Knoles, it's $55 to race and if you take a passenger, their spectator fee of $17 plus another $15 to be a passenger/driver. Season closes at the end of may so don't mess around. Check the Motorplex website for details on how to go about it plus info on the helmet standards. Longs pants and sleeves, closed shoes and your car needs to be scrutineered before you race. its all pretty low stress and they're used to noob questions so don't be scared to ask the staff or other competitors.
  18. So I got some BIG axle tramp on Wednesday night at the motorplex. Probably banged about 3 or 4 times before I got out of it and cruised the rest of the track. Car was okay for the rest of the night and seems to drive okay but now it has a constant squeak squeak squeak coming from the left rear. When I use the brakes, it goes away. I'm concerned I might have bent an axle slightly so I'll rip the wheels off tomorrow and have a look and see if I can suss it out. I bought a new set of genuine pads today just in case but I fear this might be a little more serious. Any tips ? Beside driving around with my foot on the brake.
  19. I won't vote because I'm up for any night cruise with Friday my preference for the same reason Steve.
  20. I was only able to get there today and stayed a couple of hours. It's awesome to see some real high powered turbo cars really stretching their legs on the 1000m run. The lambo's sounded nice enough but I really enjoyed the built stuff a lot more, like some of the wild Nissans. What was with that orange FG 6T today ? I saw it do a couple of sideways skips in the first few gears like he was tip toeing it and then when it hit fourth, it sounded like he just floored it and all hell broke loose ! I couldn't see it by then but it sounded like it just melted the tyres off the wheels! It was worth the drive, the dust, the heat and the flies and I'll go back. No pics though, too far away/couldn't be arsed.
  21. Never heard of Racewars before but it looks like a good time so I might head up Sunday for a look.
  22. Hi Dan, all good, stroller sorted me out with a couple.
