  1. Heh yeah. Although I am planning to change out my egt guage for fuel pressure one day.......one day.
  2. I have a DW300 lph in a surge tank through XFT and I'm working on the assumption that it works because I can't hear a thing and my motor hasn't melted yet. @Rspec. I run 42psi in my 20's
  3. I asked XFT this question and Simon said sorta the same as Murdok. It can also be an issue if you get heavy footed with low fuel levels. One of their mechs also told me separately that he would be uncomfortable at anything over 370-380 in an FG without one. The other thing is that you wouldnt want to be strapped onto a dyno and find your fuel system can't keep up and then have to rush around trying to get something in there. I spent the money for peace of mind and the cost of a second tune would almost cost as much as a surge tank anyway.
  4. Kids are so inconvenient ! If you were super keen, you could leave Pemby early and be back home late morning. I left manjimup just after sun up once and was home by 9.30. But that was on a bike and way back when I had little respect for speed limits. I've grown up a lot since Anzac Day. Also note that the 21st weekend is the preliminary finals for AFL for anyone that cares. I don't know if there's a game Saturday but we'll cross that bridge when we know if it'll clash, or if anyone is that bothered.
  5. Okay, so in September, there's going to be a two day run down to the Southwest timber country. There's some great driving roads down that way with ample opportunities to bend a speed limit and rail some fun corners to get some use out of these great cars of ours. Leaving from Southern suburbs at a leisurely 10.30am Saturday and cruising to Bunno and then following some fun roads that I ride on the bike on a regular basis that will take us through some back roads through some country towns and some great scenery Overnight stop will be in scenic Pemberton where we'll all spend some quality time with the WAGS and forum members at the Pemberton hotel in the main street which has great pub meals and is also a Best Western Hotel (you book your own room) with plenty of parking around the back. Then leaving Pemby at a lazy 9.30 to 10am and following a few more fun back roads back up to the Southwest Highway and back home by mid to late arvo Sunday. I have the route map mostly roughed out and will put some finishing touches on it to include ample rest and regroup stops. Aiming for a fun and missus friendly weekend away. So, who's keen ?
  6. I'm a real cruisey driver 99.5% of the time so I don't know it that's it.
  7. I've heard two things Kyle, one is camber, the other is toe out. My camber is really pronounced but my toe out was way off the mark when I had it rechecked. Getting WA suspensions to fit a camber kit Saturday so that should hopefully sort it.
  8. All right, so thanks to Kyle, my address and mobile number has been sent to everyone. If you missed out, let me know and we'll sort it out. Forecast is for a few isolated showers but everything is undercover anyway so we'll be fine. Turn up anytime from 10am onwards, because I probably won't have pants on before then.
  9. Don't let the sales people fool you. Victory, Indian or any of the newly revitalised makes will never sell or resell as we'll as a Harley. Despite the old tech, old styling and blah blah blah , they are still the cruiser everybody wants and the bike the chicks always will want a ride on, which if course, is gunna help sell it. All the others are just trying to get a piece of the Harley market, and there's a reason for that. It's like the difference between Coke and Pepsi, they look the same, they are aiming for the same market, do the same job, but no matter what the marketing says, Pepsi will never ever be Coke. It's the real thing, you know.
  10. I have four sensors on my FG and they work fine. These are just standard type, beep faster as you get closer. Downside is that reversing with the tailgate down just means a constant beep from the sensors which is mildly irritating. Apologies if this photo is not real clear, I cropped it with my phone from a larger one.
  11. Awesome stuff, that's livin' the dream right there !
  12. The Ford warranty store would have plenty of used ones :-/ Although you'd need to budget for banana peels to keep the POS quiet. What about one of those true trac centres ? More stronger and wont sound like maybe you forgot to put oil in it. Edit: at the risk of being Captain Obvious, you know the complete ute assembly is live axle and won't fit your G6 right ? So I'm guessing you're just after the centre.
  13. I wouldnt think the stock tachs are very accurate, especially if you have a donk that spins up quickly, as they're built down to a price. If you're serious about hitting shift points, then a quality tach is a good way to go. What I have done on the bike I use at the drags is fit two shift lights, the yellow one comes on at 11,000 the red comes on at 12,000 so I get 500rpm warning of when to shift. Besides 1st to 2nd when things can be hectic on a turbo bike, I hit my shift points pretty much all the time.
  14. Due to my wheel alignment being up to sh*t. I had to replace two front tyres today because the inside edge has worn out. The rest of the tyres have tons of tread (5mm to wear marker) on them so I thought someone could maybe use these on the rear for skids, powercruise or kill em at the drags. They're not legal anymore so no good for the road but seems a shame to bin them. If anyone wants them, a carton of coke and they're yours. If not, in the bin they go. Again. Not for road use and although I believe they'll stand up to a good flogging on the back of a car, you'd use them at your risk. Next week, camber kit.
  15. So I got my oil line today, just waiting on the clamps to lob. I'll get a message out to everyone late next week with my address.
  16. I ordered some cheap ones from parts4uz on eBay. $5 each. Not the right size but I want to drill them to suit if there's enough meat in them. If not, I can always use them on the bikes.
  17. Those clamps do look nice. Pricey, but nice.
  18. I went and had a look this morning Chris but didn't get there till 11.30, probably only a dozen cars still there so just did a lap through the car park and carried on.
  19. I hope we only get the V8 as they say. A four cylinder Mustang would be gayer that a handbag full of rainbows.
  20. Good onya Arron, probably won't be anything super challenging to be done but you never know. At the very least, we can use the oxy to finish off the snags.
  21. it looks like I f*cked up the other day anyway. it was Aaron, not Mummba.
  22. Sorry to hear it Luke, sadly I don't foresee a happy ending. On a brighter note, I got the other axle on the ute straightened at Final Drive Eng in O'Connor. As I was pulling out onto South St, I spotted Mummba outside a dodgy lunch bar looking resplendent in his hi-viz wet weather gear. I was stopping for a crappy sandwich anyway so had a quick chat and carried on. I also talked to FDE about the tail shaft. Phil reckons the later models are beefier and usually just require retubing with chrome moly which is around $700 drive in/out. Because mine is a lowered ute, they can also fit a Late model camira centre brg which sits higher and alleviates the cv joint problem. For extra bullet proofness, they can get rid of the donut at the front and fit a billet adaptor and a uni joint Providing everything else is in good nick, approx $1100 to $1200 drive in/out. I might leave it for a while though because I'm sick of getting a wet arse riding the bike every time I drop it off or pick it up.
