  1. I've never been man enough to try that trick and, sadly, probably never will be.
  2. Only acceptable if you have massive dose pipe and at least a couple of 12" subs in the boot. Hats backwards recommended but not compulsory.
  3. I'm in the shed today draining some fuel and it occurred to me that it might be good to share this super simple tip for anyone siphoning fuel that has access to compressed air. I semi regularly have to remove fuel tanks from my bikes, two of them have aftermarket fuel pumps installed with plates and fittings under the tank for fuel suction and return. So when I remove the tanks, I drain the fuel so that I don't spill the sh*t everywhere. This bike is being torn down for a revamp and to hopefully step it up to Group Two racing next season and has been using C16 and lately Roo16 which I need to drain out and I definately don't want a mouthful of it. I've had poor results with those plastic hand pump siphon things and the old sticking the thumb over the end trick doesn't work when there's not much fuel in the tank. So when I have to siphon fuel, I have a special hose on the shelf. This hose has a small hole in one end so I can snugly insert an air blower into it. Then with the other end in the fuel, I just give it a LIGHT squirt of air towards the fuel drum to create a low pressure in the hose which draws the fuel up and starts the siphoning process without my precious lips going anywhere near that nasty fuel! You do need to realise that you are blowing air into the container so it will push fumes and if you're not carefull, some atomised fuel, back out. But with safety glasses and a little caution, it's easy to get the hang of it. This system is especially good if the fuel level is low and it keeps stopping as it's easy to get going again once you relocate the hose into the fuel. So there you go, I hope this helps save someone from a gobfull of fuel one day.
  4. 4.30 is probably good in case it's hot cos it should start cooling off. If it's wet, it won't matter what time it is. If it gets dark, I will have an advantage.
  5. It's okay Steve, I'm used to it thumping through the gear changes now and at some times it's more noticeable than others. I plan to get MT to pay attention the trans tune when they road test the car to see what they they think of how it's set. If they says it's okay and it's what I need to live with to have the box survive 500+ hp then that's fine, I'll live with it.
  6. Yeah, decided to give Monsta Torque a go, partly due to convenience from my work in (heh) Northbridge but also I wanted a few things double checked, like the tune, possible boost leaks and also to have a second opinion on my trans tune (because I don't know what it's supposed to feel like). Based on my first visit to them last week, I was very happy with their attitude and willingness to discuss my concerns thoroughly. Not only that, but just to make it more convenient for me, they are going to service the car on a Saturday.
  7. Can't make it to the cruise as I'll be wobbling down the track at kwinana.
  8. Nice work Marko. Look forward to having a go at this. I'm going to do all my laps blindfolded so you you guys might want to stay the fukc away from me when I'm on the track.
  9. Yeah the website says AS/NZS 1698 (well, that's how in interpreted their typos anyway) Marko you can put me down as a tentative. Ahhh crap, ute getting serviced and dynod at Monsta torque on the 22nd but will come along and watch if that date ends up being the one.
  10. Probably a bit too late to remind everyone but there was a test and tune at the Motorplex today for the Top Alcohol and Top Doorslammer meeting this weekend. So the WAW track tonight will be well prepared and nice and grippy.
  11. WA Suspension in Ossie Park are the people I use. I can't say enough good things about them. Are you doing the front as well ? Replacing shocks with ones suitable for lowered suspension?
  12. Congratulations! Now start saving for a tune.
  13. Heh, easier said than done. Actually I'm more concerned about the possibility of a defect notice than getting pinged for speeding.
  14. As of 8am this morning, the Filth are all over Mitchell free way with the bikes and lasers. I saw about 8 bikes between the poly pipe and Hutton with about 4 victims pulled over in various spots. So watch it !
  15. Revbasher, just keep an eye on the WA section and a cruise will come up soon. We usually have them every month although it looks like January might have snuck past without one.
  16. Cool project. Although I would have suggested trading it on a Mk 2 turbo of the same colour, ripped the turbo badge off and the olds wouldn't be any wiser. But as you say, the only supercharged mk2 around. I guess your car takes a bit to get going off the mark as you need revs to make boost whereas the turbos just need exhaust gas. Hopefully we'll see you on a WA cruise soon and can check it out and you can see how it compares. Good onya for taking a different road to the norm.
  17. Fkn Jebus ! I bet that'll spin the wheels in at least two gears.
  18. In case anyone is interested, WAW on Wednesday 29th also has a test and tune during the day so the track will be prepared and have better grip than a normal Wednesday night.
  19. On the subject of lawn mowers, I worked with a guy in West Africa who once told me the story of a whore that shoved a string of beads up his date and then pulled them out when he was on the vinegar stroke. After that, I nicknamed him Victa. He was my hero.
  20. Looks like Dowen is. But on a smelly motorbike. *Dammit ! Beaten !
