ok cool thanks Paulie, I'll keep that in the back of my mind. I dont have a heavy foot generally I actually drive like a bit of a nana. that clamp was on there, but there was absolutely NO way I was getting that hose back on with that clamp still on there. ive never felt 400kw but it definitely doesnt feel that quick haha
-
this is the one here. was definitely on solenoid everything in the guide was the same, little bracket attached below the battery etc EDIT: annoyed that I didnt need to clamp it haha I went to 2 different places looking for a hose clamp small enough to fit in there! :D but im glad I got it, the whole process was a learning experience for me so now I'll know next time it needs doing.

ok, I manged to get it done. it's clamped on by one of those clamps that once they are crimped they dont come off..it was crimped right at the base of the hose, I got the hose off and tried pushing it back on with the clamp.. wasnt happening. I was playing with the right part I believe. just much tighter than I thought it would be. I took it out for a quick burn around the block a few times and it's made quite a difference, it's much less hesitant to get on boost and just pulls like a train once the boost kicks in. Paulie: so your saying that your hose isnt crimped or clamped on? it just sits on there?

well ive been at mine for 3hrs now. was impossible to get off. that took about 20mins. ive spent the last 2 and a half hours trying to get it back on! even went and bought another hose clamp because the stock one came off and im having no luck getting it back on. the hose clamp I bought is also way too big so it doesnt really work either. thankfully ive got another car I can pick things up with. but my first attempt that this is proving very frustrating

I got the ZF. really only because the manuals are so rare from my searching. if I had to choose between an auto and a manual I would prob choose the manual. but there's advantages and disadvantages to both I guess. ive heard the manuals are relatively maintenance free if the oil is kept up nice. prob cheaper to fix if something goes wrong to.

I got home from Gin Gin to Townsville about an hour and a half ago. just gave her a wash. my average comsumption was 8.8L/100klm. im pretty happy with that to be honest. however that was all cruising and maybe 20-25 overtakes. it cost me $100 to get to Townsville and it was on half when I get back. so technically it was $150 if you count the $50 I threw in once I got home. all BP Ultimate with one top up of V Power at Mackay. ive yet to use much around town so im sure im in for a surprise.

got my bushes changed out today. had to redo roadworthy at a *cough* Ford dealership. told me centre bush was flogged, I hesitantly said I would change out the other 2 while they had the cradle out. I asked about getting aftermarket ones thrown in and they gave me a speech about how they wont honour a warranty or something. so ive got oem bushes back in. car has 53500klm on the clock and definitely never been changed since new. car feels no different. in fact I heard a few knocks in the back on the way home. im preying that was a result of a boot full of stuff and the pin from my removable tow bar fell down into the spare tyre well, was rattling around freely. im going to keep them till I get enough cash up to have them replaced. 6mths will be their life in the car I reckon.

im interested to add to this conversation. im driving my fg back from gin gin to townsville tomorrow morning. so will report when I get home what kind of figures I get. im guessing around 500 maybe 550klms per tank. definitely much thirstier than my old car

im driving my car 800km back from bundy tomorrow. im actually going to buy all the oil and tools required for the change today then change out engine and diff oil tomorrow night after the car's cooled down a bit.

insurance, plus lots of saving

not yet planned, but there will no doubt be some coming. im coming from a pretty crappy non performing car so even at stock this thing flies but I do plan to start doing mods. I bought the car outright so I dont owe any money on it.

after all the talking and posting on threads im FINALLY a member of the club. yesterday I purchased an FG XR6T! stoked! ZF, tech pack, premium sound, reverse sensor, reverse camera, 53k on the clock.

awesome! congrats mate!

so is the steel pan upgrade one that can be done by yourself? for example does the pan need to be torqued etc. buying a car next weekend and quite keen to do this as prob a first "mod"

im going to look at and test a BF2 Typhoon next weekend. cant wait to be honest. ive read plenty about all T's but the BF Typhoon is like that boyhood dream car for me so an FG T (although better to many) hasn't entered my mind. if all goes well I'll hopefully be joining the club real soon! :D

interesting Bonjaz. everything ive read about the fg is good. the only fg ive driven was an XT falcon (rental) a few weeks back and even that was a decent car to drive. drove it from Bundy to Townsville.
-
yeah CB I get what youre saying there. the only saving grace for me at that price is it's one of the nicer looking FPV's ive seen online. it is similar money to FG T's though. the performance difference while nice isn't top of my priority list. however I have yet to test drive either. im hoping there's more in Brisbane that arent advertised online. this is something else to consider.

$25k for an 06 BF2 Phoon with 80k on the clock? too expensive?
-
nice bit of info Impellor, I too prefer the exterior style of the BF, actually the interior as well. I do prefer the new instrument cluster on the FG but that's about it for me. I personally am not after massive power but do plan to add a little bit throughout its life with me. plus it's a Phoon and personally they've always been a bit of a dream car only never been in the position to own one. of any age, til now

im in a very similar predicament, be interested to see which way you go

hey guys, ive been doing lots of talking about getting a T and im finally heading to Brisbane in 3 and a half weeks (counting) to search for the best car for the best deal I can get. I've managed to up my budget to $22k changing hands. that's really about the max I can handle at the moment (got $1100 set aside for 20" wheels I must have) basically for the longest time ive had my heart set on a BF2 which from the looks of carsales seems to be well within my price range now, with room so spare on extras. However im also seeing that 08/09 FG T's are tinkering on the $25k-$27k ranges. im partial to both cars looks wise, I do prefer the instruments in the FG (dig speedo, range, cruise etc.) but the centre console is better in the BF imo. anyway, with that budget is a BF with money left for extras a better go than stretching all my funds into an FG and having to leave it bog stock for 6mths or so? I realise these are all opinions and I plan on test driving anything and everything that even remotely tickles my fancy. just interested to hear some of your feedback. THANKS Mick EDIT: Mods I planned for BF are really basic stuff. Wheels/suspension, gauges, stereo, CAI.

hey guys, can you get away with SSL/UL springs on stock shocks? or absolute no no? ive yet to ring around places for quotes im just curious more than anything.
-
wow thanks for all the replies guys. CBXRT - I think the salesman that I worked with just had his own personal opinion on the 4sp. this was back when the BA was the current model. I drove a few of them (as a detailer) and had a ball. im not a racer as such but I'd imagine I would be inclined to give it a spray from time to time obviously. the only real gripe I have with the manuals is the weight of the clutch. ive only driven a few 6sp manual XR8/T's and I couldn't believe how heavy the pedal felt compared to the VE SS. I do plan to do a few mild mods, nothing too crazy though.

hey guys, this is just a quick question for XR6T owners with ZF autos. ive been looking and looking for a manual BF2 XR6T but also read quite a bit that the auto is quicker. what im interested in know is how often some of you guys use the sports mode to manual shift in your auto trans car? some people on other forums (AFF) say that they drive their T's 100% in sports mode.. does this affect the life span of the trans by doing this? as I was lead to believe that using the sports mode on the 4sp was a good way to kill it quickly (by a car salesman at my old job.) Is that the case with the ZF as well or are they really THAT good? thank you Michael EDIT: my main reason for asking is the ratio of ZF to manuals is around 4:1 online. im just thinking if I open my mind to the auto I think I'll get a better car out of it.
