  1. ok well managed to get that 20mm breather on the bov. what I did was cut off the lip that the hose clamp grabs and make a few small incisions that would allow the soft plastic to kind of mould around the mouth of the bov. works.. is on there nice and solid. took the car for a spin and gave it a boot full on just about every street I turned. makes a "whoosh" type noise even on moderate throttle. not super loud like some rex's you see farting down the road then let out an almighty whoosh noise. it's quite subtle, not sure if I love it yet but I'll leave it like it is for a week or so and see how it goes. in stock form the bov didnt make a sound no matter what kind of throttle I gave it, some people have said they get tututu's with stock set up but I dont get any of that even with the vented set up. overall cost me $27 and yeah about 5-10mins time so cant complain.
  2. so grabbed the parts today, and by mistake ive bought a 20mm breather.. doh! I'll get another. is there any damaged to be done if I blocked up the BOV as well? so ive taken out the piece of hose and put the rubber foot on and secured. the bov is still attached but where the breather would go, can I block it up also?
  3. had to be black. everytime I see the car walking back from shopping or whatever I always think that with the green it needs black wheels. they'll be here next week.

  5. Hey guys thought id just revive my thread. Im real close to pulling the trigger on a set of 19x8.5 wheels. Basically what I need to know is what size tyres are ok to wrap them in? Im thinking 245/35/19? These numbers mean little to me that's all... Cheers
  6. hey guys, im wondering what kind of mods I can do to get more turbo noise? not bov noise but actual turbo/induction whistle. so far all I have is k&n in stock box with stock snorkle. toyed with doing the holes in the stock box trick but not sure if it's wise. cheers michael

  9. hey guys, im thinking of put some new shoes on the car now that ive had all the fluids and servicing done. im keen to go 19" as I dont want to sacrifice too much ride quality for sake of big wheels and lowing etc. will it look dumb and 4wd like if I was to put 19s on and leave the suspension as stock? or is the suspension similar in ride height to the FPV range? cheers Michael

  11. mine lurches slightly like variation 1 on the Jag site. only does it when the oil is hot after ive been driving for a bit. it just dumps into first rather than "slip" in like it does every other gear. it doesnt really make any noise or jolt too badly, but it's definitely noticeable. the only thing I can think of is maybe the oil is a bit thin when hot, because first 5 or so minutes of driving it's not noticeable at all. and more so when just about to stop not after ive stopped like the image. yet to get the fluid checked/flushed. EDIT: mechanic/tuner who serviced my car today recommends Transmax over the genuine stuff which I found surprising as 3 other places I contacted all would only use LifeGuard6 (genuine)
  12. im getting the tune bug, ive only had the car a month and already interested in getting a tune done. getting the ZF serviced in a few weeks might start putting cash away for injectors, cat and tune after that. the aftermarket wheels can wait.
  13. proving difficult to get a mechanic who will do the flush if I supplied Syntrans. so far I've rung 3 and all have said that unless they use Lifeguard6 they wont do it. keep at it I guess
  14. Was just in Autobarn and was quoted $259 for 20L of GW Syn Trans. They'll take 10% off straight up as well.
  15. you are correct in saying this Adam thanks! Last night I layed down and gave the pan a gentle tap with a spanner and it would appear that I do indeed have a steel pan. nice surprise to be honest.
  16. you guys are scaring me! mine doesnt rev hunt at all, the only thing I notice trans wise is the drop into 1st when im coming to a stop. even then it's not agressive, but it's enough that you can feel it. for peace of mind I did plan on doing a flush, ive been told in the older fg's ('08) that the F6 heat exchanger is much better than the one that comes with on the T? worth trying to source on of these to put in while im getting the flush? also is the steel pan a worthy upgrade? I rang the a trans specialist up north here and he basically told me the only reason it's better is that it wont crack/break if it's hit... I was under the impression it made future services much less costly.
  17. hey guys, I apologise if this has already been said. I am looking at some 19x8 wheels for my chariot and really dont know what the PCD and offset actually mean. details 5 Studs x 114.3 PCD Offset: 40 will these fit onto an FG? thanks in advance :D

    haha Rip, yeah when I was first looking at the car I thought they were hideous but im content to leave them on until I finish doing other things with the car. im turning 30 in a few months and my tastes have changed massively the past 5-8years with cars. I was all "gonna get 20's and dump it and big aftermarket stereo" now I want 19's but they must be something Ford released on their cars, just some better quality speakers and I want the car to look as stock as possible haha.

  21. is there much gains to be had from injectors, cat and tune on an fg xr6t? im not chasing massive numbers. anywhere between 250-300 would be ideal.
  22. I paid $25k for mine with 53k on the clock, lux pack, tech pack, premium sound and 18's and has 2 years left on dealer warranty. I cant use the warranty as its for a mob on the gold coast. think I got a pretty good deal. so for $50k + mate I'd want no less than a good F6 or even jump into the S/C V8 range. p.s im in Townsville as well, most expensive place in QLD to buy cars imo.
  23. Dave: no, car doesnt have any factory warranty left. there's a dealer extended warranty for a Goldie dealership but states more than a few times that all services need to be done there.. Goldie is about 1600klm away so it's pretty much void. havent ruled out contacting them seeing if it's possible to transfer somehow. but they have no affiliation with any dealers up here (Townsville) MiKa: yeah my car occasionally still knocks in the back, hasnt done it at all when I give it some stick but going over some small bumps knocks can he heard still. nothing substantial or really even noticeable. just when driving around on some of Townsville's lovely roads I'll hear a knock in the back.

  25. gosh, I was getting frustrated to the hilt for nothing! no wonder it took me so damn long I thought it HAD to be clamped on only because there was one on there already. makes me feel so much better
