  1. shame I can't edit my post above. Just wanted to ask. I've got this new pulley and I was thinking if im going to do the one I might just do all 3 and a new belt while im at it. Is this a big job that someone with limited experience (me) can undertake? I'm not overly intimidated by the job it looks fairly straight forward but just wanted to know if there's any tricks or things I should know before I attempt it? thanks
  2. hey mate, yeah I wasnt sure what the go with that fade/cut right as he was trying to force that pulley back on. I picked up one of the steel one's from Repco today. Looks good, I'll have to wait for now I just got home from running around and I already burned myself on that oil feed that's right in front there haha. I took a video of my pulley in it's current state, it's fairly well clapped and getting worse. It's been noisey for a while but I just never really figured out what I was looking for as it's only really audible in my garage when im pulling up. I'll post the video for anyone who wants to know what sound it shouldnt make. haha
  3. does anyone think I could get away with doing the idler like this guy? Ie without removing the belt/tensioner.

    Idol Pully

im the thread necromancer! hahaha. pretty useless reply I know, just felt the need to share that mine is also noisey.
  5. thought about this also, but I can get my hands on an F6 cooler for $200. Not 100% sure whether or not it's a worthy upgrade, or if it'll make any difference at all to a stock car. But it's pretty cheap.

    Idol Pully

Just noticed mine noisey this afternoon. Been wondering what the noise was. It's most noisey when the car is in D or some kind of load even at a stand still. I put it in N and had a listen and yeap sure enough it was the pulley. I'll try source a metal one and replace it. Looks to be dead easy to do yourself.
  7. I was never a fan of black wheels until I got this car. My mate's Mrs hates them but lucky for me I didn't buy them to impress her. But overall the feedback ass been pretty positive. But I can understand why they aren't for everyone. I'm on the lowering bandwagon pretty hard at the moment. I'm getting quotes of $800 pretty regularly. I'm thinking of buying the springs and having a crack myself. Then go get an alignment.
  8. cheers mate, would probably look even better just a touch lower. but I dont want them sitting on the guards so im not sure which route to go in lowering it just yet.
  9. no not staggered, just 19x8.5 front and rear
  10. hey mate, not overly concave. At least not the one's I have are. Icon Zest. I have seen the same style in a very aggressive concave though. Mine were an ebay job.
  11. same here! Tyres and all haha. you'll be happy
  12. I've got Transmax in mine currently. When it's not up to temp like first up in the morning it can be a little fussy but once coolant temp is up to even a quarter it goes away and is fine anytime after that. But am thinking of going the Martini route, I've just been reading Fuchs does an oil too? Titan 6000? Had any experience with that?
  13. my mate owns a VE2 Thunder and he often takes me for drives in it. He's a typical Expensive Daewoo driver to in the sense that he's always pushing it close to the rev limiter and loves to try and impress me given I own an FGT. I'll always remember a night we were hanging and I started up my car and he was all "is that it?!" then he started his car which has a cat back exhaust. Whilst it was impressive to listen to that was about all. Anyway we came up to a set of lights and it was inevitable that he was going to try and go me at the green. Anyway he got the jump on me but by about the 60m mark I eased past him and that was a standing start. Next set was a rolling start from about 40km/h and I chopped him real bad that time, a good 4 or 5 car lengths. Which needless to say put a smile on my face haha. He used to bag my car out all the time for not sounding as tough, which come to think of it he hasn't done since! I do agree with all the above, VE interior feels and looks cheap as to me.
  14. I found disconnecting the battery for a half hour made a good difference too. I even got 50km more in my range till empty

no no Dave won't be tuning it personally. Paul who runs the shop will be, but he's told me on a few occasions that he's pretty close with Dave and Dave uses his dyno to tune or whatnot when he's up here.

it's a shop he associates with, and yeah im pretty sure they meant punched cat. which is illegal im pretty sure. and yeah ive got all aftermarket pipes already. the punched cat is the only thing that worries me.

yeah seemed pretty damn good to me too. the cooler is a 2nd hand one off another customers car who upgraded and donated the stock one. it's been laying around his shop. I didnt work it out individually I went in on my break so I didnt have a lot of time to nut it out in detail with him but he said he'll do it all for that price. I will go back and ask him exactly what injectors he plans to use, another one of his guys came in and mentioned the ID1000's as we were talking. so im not sure if that means those are one's he'll get or just that those are good ones. I think he's giving me most discount on the dyno use. he pretty much said get all that in and I'll tune it up for you. he works closely with a guy named Dave Sheehy? (spelling) from Mackay who uses his dyno when he's up in Townsville etc. I've been told by the tuner and read a fair bit around that Dave knows a thing or 2 about tuning our cars so im pretty confident that it'll be a good job. Plus over the past 6 months I've seen more and more quick cars starting to go to his shop. I work across the road so I hear the dyno going all the time.

Hey everyone, so I took a stroll over to the tuner who's done a couple of things on my car to ask about a rough quote to get a tune done. He came back with; X-Cal 3 box (dont have one) Injectors (I.D1000 I believe) Hi flowed cat F6 intercooler Tune $2400. That's total cost with dyno and everything installed. Basically that sounds like a pretty decent price given the figures that I've read being throwing around in the past. He seems to think that will get me 300kw if not high 200's at least. He was talking about 12-14lbs of boost. Really to be honest those upgrades would be about the end of my modding days with the car not just because I'm a bit of a nana for the most part but for fear of blowing up the ZF haha.
  21. was only BP Ultimate but switched to V Power because it's cheaper and I noticed zero difference with performance/consumption. however I still use BP Ultimate on occasion. Never put Caltex in my car. Not while I've owned it anyway.
  22. hey guys, ive done a bit of searching and wasn't able to find a great deal. I filled up the car tonight and it only needed around 10L to fill. now upon getting back in to start I noticed the fuel gauge had actually gone down a little and my range was showing a little less also. the only info ive found about this is that it's a possible fuel sender issue, it's happen once before and I just left it till next fill (following week) and it righted itself. is the fuel sender an easy fix? or is it located in the tank and a pain in the rear to get to? this is only the 2nd time it's happen and typically happens when the car doesnt require much fuel to fill. it only gets driven really 10klm a day on average so I dont use much fuel. cheers
  23. my new IC piping is 63mm dia and I have to slightly try and lift the airbox to fit the stock snorkle so I can only imagine it'll be a damn tight fit, if it fits at all.
  24. I do yearn to have a nice big cooler that pokes out the top of the grill near the Ford badge one day.
  25. sorry guys, just thought id update the picture with the new intake installed as well
