  1. hey guys, just a quick question. After washing the car I noticed a very small dint in the front passenger quarter panel. By minor I mean the paint hasn't altered over it at all and is really only visible from certain angles. Needless to say now I know it's there it's bugging me. The dint is up near the top maybe 2-3 inches from where the bonnet meets the quarter. Can I access up under the by removing the wheel and all the plastic that's in there and give it a push out? Or do is it easier to remove the whole panel? It's not a major issue but now that I know it's there it will annoy me no end. cheers guys. oh and have a feeling stereo installer did it, has the characteristic of something leaning on it.
  2. It's weird because the speakers are wired to the stock unit. The sub has a built in line converter to get signal. From what I can tell the sub is clean. I'll have a listen on lunch break to see if it's noisy also. But definite noise from the speakers. I'm going to try organise to take it back. They'll try sell me a noise filter no doubt.
  3. I was amazed they gave it to me. It wasn't bad yesterday but now I know it's there it bugs me. Thanks for the reply
  4. Hey everyone just curious. I had some Polk Comps and 2ways installed yesterday with a pioneer gr8500m sub amp. First thing I noticed is a buzzing noise at low volume. Obviously can't be heard once past a certain volume. I'm wondering what causes this or just take it back to the install place. It's constant even in reverse when the sound is muted. Cheers
  5. cheers for that, all good info. I too have Transmax and have the yo yo effect. not 500rpm but it wiggles slightly up and down. I hoped the flush would fix this but it fixed everything but that. Like you said good once up to temp though. I flat shift it I might try and drive it like a manual (lift of the accelerator just before changing) though. thanks again.
  6. just ticked over 61k and it had a service about 5-6 thousand klm ago. I don't drive all that aggressively often I'm just finding myself opting to use it more than I normally have.
  7. hey guys, just a quick question for my curiosity really. I've recently become a big fan of driving almost exclusively in manual mode. does this have any adverse effects in relation to wearing out clutches faster or causing the trans for wear out faster in general? I'm not alway up it when driving it manually, most times im just cruising around but I just find it much more fun/pleasurable to drive in manual mode. Plus it feels like it goes heaps harder when you get on it.
  8. ive changed the idler pulley but maybe it's the tensioner this time
  9. hey guys, just thought I'd post a thread asking some opinions on what a rattle under what appears to be the rocker cover up the front (on the red part.) it seems to only happen when the engine is hot and I've been feeding it a bit of boost. I did the screw driver trick (good one that) and it's almost certainly coming from under the cover. Noisy chain or something, perhaps it's a bit loose? It comes and goes periodically. It's due for an oil change as I think last service they just gave me Magnatec. I'll try better oil when I get paid on Thursday and see if it keeps doing it. Should I try maybe a thicker oil? Or just stick with the 10w-40 stuff? Car behaves perfectly normal and doesn't seem to be having an ill effects other than a subtle rattle. Only audible when im pulling the car into the garage where all the sound is bouncing off the walls. cheers guys
  10. Was at Autobarn last night and spoke to the installer for a good half hour. I'm just about sold on 2 pairs of Polk MM 6.5 2 ways front and rear. I'm dumping the splits in my premo sound as they are twice the price to install and the mid speaker is just over half way up the door anyhow. If it was the old days and the mid bass speaker was down near the floor then for sure. I'd love to find out exactly how much room there is to put in a speaker in the doors. The installer said that the Focal PC165 just fits with the windows down and they are a 65.5mm mount depth. The Polk MM is 66.7 so we'll see. I'm also getting dynamat on all 4 doors as well which will affect the depth if you're cutting it close size wise. Just some info.
  11. hey sorry for hijack. does anyone have any pics of their ICC with an aftermarket head unit installed in an FG? Keen for better sound but just not sold on the LC idea yet.

  13. Went to Autobarn this past Thursday and the salesman basically sold me on some Polk MM651 6.5" 2 ways. He said even with Premium sound with the speaker location so high in the door the requirement for an actual tweeter is minimal. So I'll likely go that route as opposed to splits. Also a good $40 cheaper to install than splits.
  14. yeah too many klms for the age of the car in my opinion. keep looking around I'd say there's good deals to be had.
  15. I was only able to squeeze about that much in to mate. I flushed it twice with the tap for about 5min each time, also filled it up and ran a radiator cleaner through it for 25min then another 5min water flush. took my whole bottle of nulon concentrate and only about 2 maybe 3L of water (demineralized) after that. I obviously didn't flush it properly. Ran the heater on full every time as well. Took the car for a drive and gave it some full boost and by the time I got home the level when hot was just below the max when cold. topped it up. I'll keep one of my 5L bottles of water in the car and keep checking it periodically. This To this also I decided to install the 82c thermostat can advise so far with car idling for almost an hour throughout the day today and a good burn I've had NO adverse effects as a result of it being installed other than gaining a notch on the temp gauge. it sits on the line before half now at all times. will creep up to half if im hitting the go pedal hard for a while. but just cruising around it doesnt move. so far so good
  16. almost done, I flushed it with the garden hose in the bottle and the hose on the bottom of the radiator off. That bung on the bottom was just too fiddly and I didnt have a tool to get it off. I had to unscrew the black plastic defuser under the bumper to make enough room to get my hands in there. got it though, the stuff that came out was basically water but stank like all hell. just ran some radiator cleaner through it for 25mins and waiting for it to cool so I can do one last flush and then put in the proper coolant. so far so good. I bought an 82c thermostat from supercheap, still deciding whether to put it in or not. My car isn't tuned and there 100 different opinions about whether or not they can do harm etc etc.
  17. going to give this a crack today. bought a new thermostat and gasket as well. ive got 15L of distilled water and 5L of Nulon concentrate. I think my biggest hurdle is figuring out how to get as much old coolant out as I can.
  18. Thanks for replies. I'm glad that the sound can be improved so easily. I've had big doof doof systems before send I'm just after a bit better than stock. A 10 or 2 in the boot will likely come after. Unless sneaking after market free air really makes a difference
  19. mine did it quite badly when I bought the car (approx 8000klm ago) only when the oil was hot though. I got the oil dropped and new filter, gasket etc and hasn't done it since. That was about 2500-3000klm ago now. If you have a steel pan I'd imagine around about $400-$500. If it's plastic probably a little more. That's an option, or just have to drive around it. Or like Bionic said, drive in manual mode. First gear is rubbish anyway in my opinion.
  20. Great, thanks for the reply Senna! I'm glad that it does make a difference. I might go ahead and grab them!
  21. Ok so I just installed a Monza cooler into my car yesterday. I dont plan to tune for quite while yet if at all and love the large cooler look. I did a heap of searching and I realize plenty on here said don't expect any gains. First up they only JUST fit. With my aftermarket pipes I had to squeeze the front bar back on. Very tight fit. Works fine no engine lights. I took some pics but can't upload on my phone. It's basically a large version of the stock cooler. Inside it looked really clean and all the fins were nice and straight. If you're after visual effect they are great. Would I trust it at 300+? Probably not, but seeing as I'd love to travel soon so tuning likely won't happen if at all I'm very happy with the purchase.
  22. Hey everyone, I realize there's alot of topics regarding which speakers etc. Basically all I'm curious about is whether it's worth it to change them but while still running the premium ICC? Was at autobarn having a poke around and they've got all their Vibe gear on hardcore sale. Was considering putting in the Slick 6 comps up front and a cheap 2 way for rear fill. Has anyone had any noticeable gains from just changing out the factory speakers? I'm not an audiophile but I'd rather quality over quantity on a budget. I want to keep the interior as stock looking as possible.
  23. great stance. Giving me reason to lower mine!
  24. might give this a crack. Radiator place up north here quoted me $210 to do a flush and refill.. that's not a mis-type either. Two Hundred And Ten Dollars!
