    Servicing

Guys, My ute is coming up to a 2 year service with just under 20000km on the clock. Went to to my local dealer and was quoted the exorbitant figure of $375-for basically oil & filter on an A Service--Ridiculous !!!!!!!! Ultratune was $100 cheaper than that and my own mechanic about 1/2 again. Does anybody really pay that much for an oil & filter change these days ??????? And for you guys who service your own vehicles -what is your oil of choice. After reading thru the book again it is recommended to change the brake fluid every 2 years and retighten the inlet manifold bolts-so Ill probably get my man to do that as well. Anything else worth getting done????
  2. Ok, Now this is gonna sound real weird BUT- I tried putting anti rattle tape here and there on the weekend with no success. Then I had to drive home from Canberra in the rain -Result Rattle is gone. I know this doesnt make any sense but the rattle hasnt come back yet Now Im thinking maybe tub mounting rubbers or something along those lines. thoughts ???????????
  3. Certainly is- Im seriously thinking of selling the hard top & Bar and just going with the standard tonneau-looks average though
  4. Guys, I have a really annoying rattle behind the passenger in my FG xr turbo. The ute is 2 years old and is fitted with hard cover and bar. It is really bad on rough roads-took it back to the dealer-they had it for 4 days and still couldnt find it !!!!!!!!!! Sounds like its coming from the small cut out section behind the passenger but I cant nail it down. Im hoping someone else has had a similar noise and sorted it. The cover latches fine so I dont think its that Help, Scott
  5. Could not agree more !!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Guys, Some thoughts on the "Premium Sound" system in my 50 th Anniversary Ute. Right from the start I was extremely underwhelmed by the sound system so I changed the front door speakers to a set of Morel splits and added a 4 channel amp. -Result was an improvement although not a huge amount-I had a humming sound and music sounded "muddy" -Next step was to replace the rears with more Morels and add a Cadence slim line sub -Result was a vast improvement-humming all but gone. It turns out the rear speakers where stuffed-Now this is in a 10 month old Ute I ve had from new and I dont drive the stereo all that hard. Moral of the story is if your gonna update your stereo it certainly pays to update all speakers-even the rears behind the seats in a ute! All up cost me about $1000 installed and it is money well spent. Scott
