  1. ive spoken to the guys at hardy spicer in sydney about this one as I had the same problem after putting a mal woods 6spd box in(due to needing to replace the front half of the shaft) and the answer was that the xr6 two piece is a nightmare to get right. one of the employee's own vehicle is going through the same problem and they still havent figured out what to do, they have completely changed all components. so if these guys have the same issue then I dont know who can help, I just fitted a F6 craddle and had to modify my shaft again( using the front half of my new shaft and the rear half of the F6 shaft) and now the vibration has righted itself.. I didnt have the shaft balanced or anything after joining the two, so I think it might just come down to plain dumb luck.lol
  2. if your unsure of the tailshaft, maybe you could take a measurement from the centre bearing to the companion shaft whilst its in the car. Then remove it and check the measurement with it out. (measure centre bearing to the rear cv whilst pushing the cv inward, then again with pulling it outward to give you its free play) if the measurement "installed" is roughly in the middle of the other two measurements you shouldnt have a problem. I know the rear cv have some give and take in length as they have a plunging action to take up movement from the diff. I just had a F6 craddle installed into my falcon and went through all the tailshaft drama's
  3. Not looking to change to Auto thanks anyway guys.. love my manual too much and ive test driven an autoo model and didnt like it. Ralph..no offence was taken matey..yeah im not a big believer in dropping the vehicle too much, I used to own a low ass XF and found it nothing but problems with both driveability and the police factor..lol Thanks red nose...I've tried getting onto diff technics page but the falcon stuff isnt comming up, so I'l give it a try again later and if no luck I'll call them later on.
  4. The main reason behind the craddle change was the diff itself, not so much the cv's. Just thought it may help as my falcon doesnt have lsd or traction control..I was thinking of putting the stronger shafts on the F6 craddle. I dont claim to know everything about these fords, that's why I joined this forum, so far it has helped em to get where I am today with it,so im always open to ideas and thoughts guys. thanks nelsonian101 I'll look into diff technics.
  5. prior to the power upgrdades I had no trouble at all matey, but with in 8 weeks of the tune I shattered 3rd gear of the t5 gearbox and now the passenger side shaft (cv) is gone. (my comment on the WEAK ASS IRS is more so based on the storries found on this forum, rather then personal experience) ive just bought the IRS set up out of a BF F6 with the hope that it might help. I dont intend to stop at 320kw so as things give way I replace them with stronger gear, looking at nitros set up after getting the engine rebuilt.
  6. G'day guys and girls, Just wondering if anyone has bought and installed the 1000hp half shafts (cv) that KPM supply on their web page? I'de like to know what others thought of them before forking out the $3700.00 price tag, I've looked into other options for strengthening the weak ass IRS and it seems that this may very well be the most cost effective way of doing so. Also any other ideas and comments would be appreciated. Vehicle info BA XR6 N/A with full BF XR6T motor conversion stronger valve springs stage 3 process west intercooler under battery air intake throttle body relocation bigger injectors waste gate mod 4" dump hi flow cat and a custom tune to respectable 320rwkw
  7. have you found any problem since posting this g.pep?
  8. I have the same problem, just fitted a rebuilt t56 from mal woods and the clutch was only replaced not long before. the gearbox specialist near my place said that some just make that noise. it is a little disconcerning all the same though lol
  9. yeah I looked into this myself, Mcdonald brothers offer both a street legal version or full strip unit, unfortunately buy the time you do the conversion it could end up costing in excess of $10K (brand new 9" supplied). not sure I really want ot go to that much expense.
  10. im trying to get more info from a place called ALTRA 9, they do a 9" IRS although at the moment only for the ve com .IRONIC!!? but its would surely suit your needs if they started selling them. if I get anywhere with them, I'll start a new post and inform everybody. seems to be the weakest link in an otherwise great car.
  11. well matey coming from some one that bougth the N/A....it took a lot of money to get it upto 320rwkw that its pushing now with the turbo motor. dont get me wrong the N/A goes ok if you tickle it a bit, mine had about 160rwkw in the manual version and still got about 600klms+ out of a tank of fuel, but it doesent take long before you want more, and more and then stick a turbo motor in..lol in the end it will come down to your own direction that you want to travel. if you are use to powerfull cars like I was, then the N/A will not be enough for you. and honestly there's nothing a hard assed test drive wont pick up if you know what your looking for.
  12. hey guys those diffs dont sound much better in the turbo varient then the N/A do. I just put a turbo motor in my 2003 N/A ba xr6, its now pushing 320 rwkw and am trying to find a joint that does a 9" conversion (not having much luck lol) although I have come across a joint called "altra 9" that do an IRS 9"... ironically only for a Late model camira at the moment, im hitting him to get some more info on when he'de be able to do one for my ba, I'll post something later on if I get some info....and figure out how to start a new thread.
