  1. Hey bionic thanks for the reply, totally taken all said into consideration cheers mate but I'm very fussed about that sort of stuff in regards to anything happening or not happening to my car while I'm not there,if it's a choice between a mates workshop or a ford workshop then it's a no brained mate regardless of any post warranty benefits & in regards to claiming any warranty as long as the cars standard genuine ford parts have been used & a approved workshop works on the car there is no issue with warranty, the more read about ford the more people say it's not worth the paper it's written on lol, thanks mate.
  2. Thanks for the reply tab,how can I tell if it's Manf. or dealer warranty, actually the dealership has closed down awhile ago-dale ford Bankstown, cheers mate.PS wot u mean about enter on keyboard too long post.
  3. Hey all, My XR6T is coming up for it's first year service,it's a low km car only 7500km & still in showroom cond.,I love it lol ! It's basically oil & filter change & a few other formalities but my question is does the car need to be services at Ford to not void warranty.I currently have a standard 3 yr new car warranty & have not paid for any further extended warranties or anything like that.I have gone through all the servicing & log books & I can't see anywhere where it says you must take your car to a ford dealer or you void warranty.I am not on any fixed price serve schedule or anything so I figure that it I but all the ford recommended lubricants & filters & whatever else the service manual suggests & I'll keep all the receipts for future proof, then take my car to close mates workshop who's a approved MTA workshop & then I can make sure my beast gets services properly by a top mechanic while I wait & watch,I'll tell yoy ford would never be able to service this good Coz they simply don't care.Is anyone in the same situation or know a little more about the servicing warranty & about it being void, my mechanic says that if I have not paid for any extra extended warranty with fixed price servicing then as long as you use the recommended gear keep all receipts & take the car to an MTA approved workshop it's all good re warranty. Because quite simply from what everyone says on forums about bad dramas they've had with ford service or lack of it everything from paying for things that never actually get replaced to cars coming back with scratches/dings etc.Anyone with any knowledge especially about the servicing & warranty, cheers guys ;-)
  4. Hey Punx, Thanks for the reply & vid mate, after seeing your vid I can definately say that the sound is not that loud & rattley & not coming from the idler but the sound my car makes is coming from around the clutch area underneath & when I press the clutch in the sound stops but when I release again it comes back so that's why I tend to think it's not the idler & the cars only done 1400km's. Punx you didn't mention if your car is a 6 speed manual, cheerz mate.
  5. Hey James,so does yours only happen on cold start up like not being started overnight & about 2mins into warm up,coz that's when mine does it,the dealer reckons it's something to do with the thrust bearing spiggot or something & it's normal but I don't know,I push the clutch in & the noise stops, have you noticed that with yours I'd be interested to know, but other than that like you said after a cruise & warmed up no noise
  6. Hey mate, when I take my foot off the clutch again the noise is still there, but the noise is only during cold start up,after I go for a cruise & the car is hot the noise is never there, other than that there's nothing wrong with the drive or clutch or anything,I'm starting to think it's just normal coz the dealer sort of new straight away,so unless someone with a FG XR6T manual can verify I not sure, cheerz.
  7. Hey guys, Just a qik follow up,I went into my dealer over the weekend & I made him start a XR6T to see if I could point out the noise if it happened,he started it up & it idled for about 2mins then a slight sound started but not as loud as mine makes at home.I said to the dealer "there's the sound it's like that but mines a bit louder & rattles a bit more". I forgot to mention to you guys in my original post that my XR6T is a 6 speed manual but the XR6T he started was an auto transmission as that's all he had in the yard, after hearing the sound he said to me "Your car is a manual hey, then it sounds like the thrust bearing spiggett,it's normal" or something along those lines,he then suggested when I get home to warm up my car until the sound starts & then try pressing the clutch to the floor & he said the sound will go away whilst the clutch is to the floor & he was spot on. Guy's I'm not a guru by any means when it comes to engines & stuff but he said that it is the thrust bearing spiggett engaging or disengaging something like that, can anyone give me more user friendly explanation.
  8. Hey Brenno, does yours make any sound on warm up & also how long do u usually warm up for,I know with the Skylines there notorious for long warm up times 4-5mins but I've noticed the Fords warm up quiker, cheers mate.
  9. G'day chaps, I've had my brand new FG XR6T SEDAN for about 4 weeks now & it's done about 850km's on the clock so far (it's my weekend beast, hence the low km's). Ever since I've had the car I've noticed that about 2mins into the warm up after starting the engine from cold a rattle/vibrating/tapping sound from the engine bay suddenly appears, every time & at about the same time all the time without fail.I rang the service manager at the dealership I purchased from & he said it could be some valve or actuator opening or closing during the warm up period but I would need to bring it in so they can hear it.I am an ex R33 Skyline owner & this beast is my first Ford I've owned so I'm unfamiliar to the in's & out's of the XR6T yet.Is this noise a problem or is it normal on the Fords during warm up & does what the service manager reckon sound correct. Thanks for your time guys & appreciate any feedback cheers ; )
  10. The first thing I notice every time I see the pics of the new XR6T MKII is that fugly black plastic front bar,now that's crap seriously but the front grill looks good. The Xenon HD front lights I wouldn't mind on my new XR6T,but all in all im glad I just my new FG looks heaps better.
  11. Hey mate, I put a deposit down for my new XR6T sedan on the 21/8 and they said it would be about 4 weeks wait,I went in on saturday & they said they could see my car listed on their next delivery sheet & could only tell me delivery sometime in september,so we will see if they can keep there word, but just to add mine is a 6 speed manual which has to be built straight off the production line so there may be delays I hope not too long though I'm hanging As for any shipping or freight delays I don't know, enjoy it when u get it !!!
  12. Thanks for the reply turbonator much appreciated mate, but did u have to end the quote in "And that's when they thrash it",haha I didn't want to hear that but I suppose they have to give it a bit to see if all is ok.
  13. Hey guys, I'm a newbie ford man(previous R33 skyline),I have just put a deposit down on a brand new 2011 FG XR6T.The head sales guy said coz I want manual transmission that it would have to be built on the production line & that's exactly what I wanted a brand new spanker that know has driven. My question is how many KM's should I expect there to be on the car when I take delivery if any, does ford run them at all after production or anything like that. The reason I ask is I want to be sure that no one has given it a good thrashing before I take delivery especially as it needs to be run-in first. The last thing I want to see after spending so much cash on my first brand new car is km's clocked up on the speedo already.Has anyone here picked up a brand new spanker of the production line & how many km's was on the clock when u received it & what were they from. Cheers guys
  14. Just punch the cat through then yr car will breath, leave the cat's in there original position but punch them through, which average copper is gonna know that there punched & how many times has an EPA inspector pulled u over for a random emissions test, think about it.
