  1. Yeah, I got it working quite well - happy with it. Found a nice SMS app and got music apps and waze etc. to autostart. Last thing I gotta figure out is voice control and how to wire the reverse camera up. Massive step up from the stock system.
  2. Look up the Kayhan audii replacement screen for fg. Way better than sync 3 which I have in my focus.
  3. My guages are on the steering wheel column, so the bigger screen is not an issue for me. I have android auto, but have set up the new screen to work independently so I dont need to plug the phone in. But yes, android auto is pretty good, not quite as good as CarPlay though.
  4. Got the oculus rift a fortnight ago. Impressive bit of kit - quality gear. Came from Hong Kong within 48hrs of ordering. Took the lad about 20mins to setup. Had a go playing a Marvel game. Lots of fun, it is really immersive and lots of movement required. You are transported into another reality. I got nausea after about 15mins, but doesnt bother the kids. Iam hopeless though - cant do roller coasters etc. Impressed so far. My NUC handles it no problem. Still displays on the tv simultaneously so others can see what's happening.
  5. Put mine in on the weekend. Not too difficult, the guy is really helpful and responds quickly. I like the bigger screen, looks ok to me even though it sticks out a bit. Makes it easier to interact with. The reverse camera does not work yet - he has not decoded the wiring loom on the mk2 for the camera yet. I might try and tap into it myself. Otherwise everything else works. Also using Agama interface and have a usb sim for data. Have not got the android auto dongle working yet, need to download something from a dodgy web address onto the unit. The bluetooth phone interface is diabolically rudimentary. No text messages and no voice control/calling. Will have to find an alternate app...
  6. Have a look on facebook - he put up some pics with top guages. Doesnt look like it obscures the view. I have ordered one. My guages are on the steering column though, so not worried about visibility.
  7. Well now Iam thoroughly confused... what is real and not real??? The boy was excited when I said oculus rift. Reminds me of when I had to study this stuff: https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap111018.html
  8. Ordered the oculus rift. Will post some feedback once its here and up and running. I might even have to give it a try.
  9. Ok thanks. Any suggestions on what to get? Hoping under $750.
  10. We use a nuc 8i7hvk as a media hub. Apparently it has a Radeon graphics card and 32gb memory. Iam beginning to think he specced it for gaming..... He plays fortnite, halo, minecraft etc. Also claims he can use the VR for educational purposes....
  11. Anyone know anything about mixed reality headsets? I know nothing, but the young fella reckons he needs one for his birthday. He uses an xbox one and and we have a windows 10 intel nuc which apparently can support it. Any suggestions? Usually I just ask the guys with the weird tats and hairdo at the local jb hifi.
  12. Its still progress. Use the left and right preouts into a processor - then convert to whatever you want. Are you guys wanting 5.1 for music or movies on the screen? Cant picture watching a movie in the car? I still rate the guy - that he could come up with a workable solution when all others failed.
  13. Looks are subjective, always get individual preferences. BY all accounts its a very good car....but not selling that well....... kinda like the Falcon when it was made.....
  14. Audi rs3! $1678 for stage 1 ecu remap by apr. Goes from 294kw to 404kw with e85!!! According to motor good enough for 0-100 in 3.28s and quarter mile in 11.09s. Seems far too easy...
  15. A proper upgradeable android tablet opens up all kinds of options. Interesting that they upgraded the cd player to a dvd player in the car - this must be at extra cost. With an android tablet you could stream content anyway - obviously illegal (stupid and dangerous as well) to do so while driving. Internet radio though! No more dodgy falcon fm reception. Stupid me - I upgraded my screen to an FPV one about 5 years ago to get sat nav. Then put in an aftermarket sony double din headunit down the bottom as wanted better sound quality and wanted to use android auto. This makes it all redundant and much simpler as well. Wonder if it would be cheaper without the integrated sat nav? You could just use google maps or waze - both of which are significantly better than the FORD sat nav.
  16. Wow, this looks great. If it can do apple carplay and android auto, has a audio line out or digital out for amps etc, and has obd2 inputs for digital gauge display - brings upto current standards.
  17. I dont know about bigger cans, but hoon tune demonstrated same power with their entry level cam, but power/boost coming on 400rpm earlier, and the power band expanded by over 500rpm. Looked pretty impressive.
  18. Great thread and nice write up. Well done on the car - looks great and stealthy. I also use a BW turbo - the EFR9176 (slightly smaller turbine wheel which is supposed to spool quicker). I see you also use the BW 0.83 IWG exhaust housing as well - I got comments that it is too small for the Barra, but still makes enough power for a street driven manual. Havnt found it to be a limitation yet.
  19. Are you going to keep the falcon or sell it? I decided to hang onto mine and bought a Ford Focus RS last year, fun small car - but not very practical. A bit out there looks wise, but the Honda civic Type R is getting rave reviews for a FWD car.
  20. Cant answer your question. But I did try to buy a 6boost manifold once. The guy (Joel?) asked what I was going to use it for - I told him.... basically said I was an idiot and the conversation ended. He was right - I didn't need a new exhaust manifold for my application - probably right about the idiot part too...
  21. 450rwkw in my 0.5 daily, regular trips in heavy traffic. Have been using a single plate organic as its the nicest on the street - had the expectation that I would need to change it like tyres or brake pads, but amazingly has lasted over 20k kms so far.
  22. So ended up with Michelin cup 2's 265-30-19. Freakin amazing - as good, probably better grip than the R888R in the dry, and much much quieter. Not sure how long they will last though.....
