  1. well the winner was the flex plate. should be all up and running again before I fly back from work again
  2. ah well. I will call my local ford joint and find out what I should do. I know I cant afford a new engine, not sure what a flex plate is worth installed. I'm guessing there's no point throwing a standard one back in it though.

  4. No point now, I figured if it was something easy to fix I might give it a crack. but seeing as it's probably not I will just get it towed in and looked at. and there it can sit until it is fixed. With any luck I might be able to get some of it under warranty...

  6. 1700kms on the new engine. no idea if the sound goes up and down, too scared to start the engine again let alone rev it
  7. would it do it at idle as well? as this makes the sound as soon as I start it up.
  8. yeah I know the guys at the ford joint pretty well and they always look after me. A big end bearing? is that expensive to fix?

Was cruising home tonight at 50km/hr and started slowing down when my engine started making this shocking sound like 'clack clack clack' repeatedly, closest thing I could determine was a stick in the fan kinda sound. It still runs and everything works, no errors on the dash but the noise is pretty damn loud. I can't see anything that would cause the sound when I poked my head around the engine. Anyone got any ideas what might cause this? I will be getting it towed into the dealership tomorrow but if it's something simple then I might not have to...

    I haven't noticed any pinging as of yet, checked my 3 other dyno sheets from the last car and they all show 12.5 AFR as well. I'll make some calls and work out whether its safe to run it like that or not.

    oh it definitely opens when I take my foot off the pedal. haven't heard it release under WOT yet which I guess is good. its loud as and goes for like 3 or 4 seconds.

    Marky just got the sheets today that have the boost on there, they ran a gradual 15.5psi to get about 390rwkw, and the run that has higher boost in the mid ran 16.2psi to make 384rwkw.

For anyone who is interested, 'I've been told' that the best way to replace oil pump gears is to drop both the engine and gearbox out as one. this saves a sh*t load of time unbolting and realigning the engine to the gearbox. supposedly turns a full day job into a 3 hour job for an experienced mechanic. this could be entirely incorrect but if it saves some people some coin then well and good.

    I run a gt turbo not gtx at the moment. if e85 doesnt give me what I want then a gtx will be what I will look at installing. nah auto is untouched at the moment (other than tuned), figure I will do a full rebuild on it if it starts getting sh*t, has only done 1500kms so far. the overboost valve sounds like a super-sequential blow off valve was but it looks like it vents straight to the atmosphere... so may have to rip it off before I get defected for it.

    no one will ever drive one of my cars again. though the current one has got absolutely nothing on the old one! going to try running e85 and if that doesnt help to give it some balls then a bigger turbo is the next step. worst part is I'd rather be driving my brothers 265rwkw BA 5-speed manual because its so much more fun to drive. I feel like an old man in this. only good thing is the sound of the overboost valve

    made 390kw. so not 400 unfortunately... especially when I made 422.7kw with the same parts on my manual FG. manual was 10 times better than this auto, felt so much stronger through the gears. and I do have the auto tuned. Overall not real happy with the auto but not changing it now. scan0002.pdf

I was under the impression the 4 speeds were good for around 300rwkw at least (stand to be corrected by someone who has owned one). does your trans have an aftermarket cooling system? if you've been giving it a hard time then it could be any number of things in your driveline. I'm going to assume there isn't any oil coming out anywhere? If I were in your position I would get it towed to my normal repairer and let them figure it out. with any luck it's something simple
  18. how do you only make 350kw then? I ran 17psi through the last one and it only made 4.7rwkw more than at 16psi as the huffer was gettin out of its efficiency rating...

    I don't think my current fuel system could handle 400+ with e85. anyway I will post the results of intercooler and intake upgrade on wednesday when I pick it up

    yeah might do valve springs eventually, but we'll see what it makes on the stock ones first. had no problems with the valve springs in my last FG so hopefully will be the same with this one

    Hey, got my new FG mk2 tuned, made 308rwkw at 14psi but the crappy stock cooler couldn't keep up so they knocked out the boost in the top end. Sittin at 280kw at the moment and seems to go alright... managed to spin 3rd in the wet yesterday with 275s. mods: 4in exhaust 72lb injectors surge tank and 044 gt35 with flapper and actuator mods Goes in monday for a nizpro cooler kit, overboost valve and turbo side intake + battery relocation kit. should hopefully see me near the 400 mark scan0001.pdf
  22. nope that didn't help :/ regardless it's booked in next monday for nizpro intercooler kit, overboost valve, turbo side intake and batt relocation and retune + auto tune. see how it likes 16+psi in the mid!
  23. I'd say it's past time to put in a surge tank, the intank might be doing fine but it comes down to if you're prepared to bet your engine on it. A retune is probably needed, I found mine was over-fueling once the surge tank setup was put on. Anyway, you made great power so enjoy it!
  24. any cruises happening soon? I should have 400kw before the month is out so I'll be keen as to test this ZF box out, see if it's all that it's been talked up to be!
  25. Can't get any pics up cause I dont have any and I'm at work for the next two weeks, but its pretty much identical to the last car except auto. yeah its running the bigger turbo already. Yep the intercooler and pipes are the only mods that got damaged on the last one, though unfortunately my turbo side intake wont fit on with the standard pipe work so need to get a big intercooler very soon. Will also need to make some cosmetic adjustments to the front bumper as it is highly restrictive (airflow wise) on the MK2's.
