So the bearings in my turbo started to sh*t themselves yesterday, I'm not sure whether it was a lack of oil getting to it (used an earls oil line) or if something had happened to it during the crash in my last FG. Anyway I dropped it in to morpowa today to get a GTX3582 fitted and figured if I'm gonna make some good figures I better get my tailshaft strengthened. So will pick it up in a couple of weeks when I get back from work.
  2. Lol I'm thinkin 3576 to help preserve the poor ZF
  3. Just cooked my turbo :( if nothing else at least I have a good excuse to go a GTX now!

So my hopes of making 400rwkw on 98 have been dashed. Took my car in today to my new tuner (Morpowa) for a tune and it made 361rwkw at 17psi. It doesn't feel any less powerful than when it made (supposedly) 390rwkw on a mainline dyno. Anyway very impressed with how much smoother the car runs.
  5. Lets break this down. BF mk2 has the stronger 'rods' I believe than previous models. Assuming both BF and FG vehicles have all the usual bolt on goodies attached (exhaust, injectors, intercooler, intake) then there 'typical' power output is: FG = 330rwkw on 98, BF = 400+rwkw on 98. Should you choose to put the GT35 turbo on the FG then it will make similar power to the BF.
  6. solid list of mods. look forward to see what it can do with a big set of injectors
  7. bald 245s with 450+rwkw... it will be struggling to get traction on the dyno lol. but I understand your worry with bigger tyres, better that the slip happens at the tyres than in the drive train
  8. 315s are massive tyres! I hope u have a set of them ready for next wk when your running mid-high 400s
  9. yeah well I used to run a 9.5 rear with no dramas at all. in hindsight I should have looked into it more rather than simply selecting what I liked and letting the suspension bloke do the rest. ah well I'll still try and run larger tyres on the soon to be 8.5 rears but I'm just going to have to sacrifice my dish for the time being.
  10. no ones actually told me the offset, suspension bloke who is fixing the car didnt know lol and when I spoke with ozzy tyres they just said that they wont fit in staggered format on FG sedans. just checked the vertini website and it shows multiple widths (8.5,9,9.5,10,10.5) for the 20in rim but its possible that they all have crazy offsets. very annoying that the insurance company did not just leave it to me to organise my own rims
  11. spent half the day on the phone only to find out that they are 20 x 10s on the rear and they dont legally fit FG sedans unless u roll your guards, run 255 tyres and a few degrees neg camber and that only makes them fit but still not legal :( only other size they have in 20s is 8.5 which is what is on the front. So it looks like if u are after these rims Jet u need 20 x 8.5s all round. so goodbye dish for me as I dont want to get defected for them and then have to take the whole car through regency and there's no way im only running a 255 on the rear. wont get insurance with the current setup either as its past the legal track width for an FG. hating life
  12. haha I did look at the old simmons, but I had put the price of rims and tyres down at $3000 on my insurance so these were about the best I could get. unfortunately they have put the wrong offset on the rears (I didnt order them) and the rims stick out past the guards so good times ahead getting that sorted
  13. yeah its been off the road since easter. lucky I work away most of the time. the old rims were discontinued, so they told me to select new rims for SA suspension to buy and fit.
  14. so they are 20s all round, 275s on rear and 245s up front... not sure of exact rim width but im guessing 9.5in rear and 8.5in front.
  15. new shoes shouldnt be too long before she's back on the road
  16. your pipework looks awesome mate, wish I had the skills to do great workmanship like that on my car. I'm interested to hear how the GTX 35/76 compares to the stocko FG turbo in regards to spool time. Also it should list you as a donating member instantly, or at worst within 24 hours. Might depend on how you paid??? Cheers, Jarrad
  17. hahaha u can have my rims if ya want! How bad did she look underneath? I know I hit the curb fekkin hard, thought I had snapped my rim clean off
  18. hahaha damn it. was trying to keep that on the down low. I swerved for a cat in the wet and jumped the curb
  19. FG should be quicker with just a tune and filter. However the BF is capable of making significantly more power should u decide to throw some decent cash its way.

  21. yeah my bluetooth wouldn't work half the time, would have to turn it on and off on the ICC before it would connect and it would drop out as soon as I turned the car off even when the ICC was still on. With the new firmware I leave my bluetooth permanently turned on on my phone and it instantly connects with the car as soon as I start it. It all works perfectly now, I say if you have an issue with it then take it to ford and tell them you want it fixed. But by far the best part is how much louder and clearer the sound is after getting the updated firmware.
  22. Hey, not sure if people are interested in knowing about this but it's just something I came across. It started when I disconnected my battery, after connecting it back up I found my screen no longer turned on. Everything still worked just no screen. Anyway I took it back to the dealership and waited a week or so for them to get approval to try updating the firmware on the ICC unit. Thankfully it fixed my screen and also a few other issues with the bluetooth and usb options. It also cranks far louder than it used to, it now rivals my friends 2010 XR5 turbo stereo which is pretty decent for a stock standard system. This is the standard system (NOT premium sound) and It's a lot louder and clearer than my FG mk1 which had premium sound. I'm wondering whether updating the Firmware on previous models will also have a similar effect, could be useful for those who are not satisfied with their current sound.
  23. ah ok, I thought maybe they ran a different oil in them to begin with in order to help clean out any tiny bits of metal that might come off as the engine runs in. I'll get it pulled out this week anyway as it's close enough to 5000kms. cheers for the help
  24. Hey all, just trying to work out how long to leave the run in oil for in my FG XR6t. Had the car tuned to 280rwkws at 750kms and then to 390rwkws at 1350kms. I've clocked up 4500kms currently and considering getting it swapped out this week. Any advice would be awesome
  25. Bomber I had mine re-tuned with the intake fitted... not really much point to modifying the car if you're not going to get it tuned to match those mods. However it is possible that I gained more power due to updates made in the tuning software (was about 6 months since the last tune). Obviously I wasn't really going to notice 11kws (2.5%), it was the response time of the turbo that felt a lot sharper, more instant power. I was very glad I did the intake as they were able to fatten my low-mid range power right up in the tune
