ah bugger, really wanted to get it done in SA. oh well, will have to speak with morpowa, not forking out 8k though. any idea what a turbo 400 is worth and who builds them in SA? anyone had experience with them eg are they a pain to use for street duties?
-
Hi fellas, just wondering if anyone knows of good transmission builders in SA? At yesterdays drags my ZF refused to change into 4th under load so I'm thinking it's time to make some phone calls. Not sure yet whether to keep the ZF or go a C4. Any advice/information is welcome. Thanks in advance

Hi Jason, one of my good mates went to LMG performance, he previously had his BF F6 tuned in Adelaide and a few months later his engine self destructed. He's only running 280rwkw whereas before he was running 370rwkw but he says the car has never run so well. That's the only feedback I have on that place. Supposedly AMMRR in adelaide do good tunes, they use a hub dyno and a few fellas on the facebook Barra group have been there without complaint. Worth giving either of those tune shops a call and let them know the dramas you are having. Cheers, Jarrad

I had my old manual FG tuned by Brett, it occasionally stalled but always felt like it went really well. Got my new FG tuned by him and felt slow as *beep*, but that could be because sh*tty auto and the fact that it had only 700kms on the clock and wasn't run in... does it need to be run in? Also had a few errors popping up on the screen. Took it to MP and supposedly picked up 30rwkw but my butt felt no power increase... however the errors were gone. Turbo blew up 4 days later so changed turbos and went e85 and now car takes like 5 cranks to start, occasionally stalls and it idles just a little bit rough. But all in all my engine is still holding together 'touch wood' so I'm not complaining too much. Supposedly there is a place in Port Pirie called LMG Performance who do half decent VCM tunes, still a 2.5hr drive though

Hey Bizkets, look up LMG performance, its a decent trip to get there but a few of my mates who own F6s swear by him.

Pro346 I believe so, but you would have to pm him to confirm

on the weekend I tested out the cooler stigmata fitted up to my car and although it was a lot hotter day than my last outing I ran consistently 3mph faster than my previous trap speed pb and also managed to sneak out a 10. ran the same crap street tyres and full weight. my nizzy cooler and stigmatas cooler cost the same amount...
-
GTX3576? got one of jons coolers on yet? you should make near on 450 with e85 if ya do
-
cheers Jet, I was pretty stoked with 134mph especially considering how hot it was out there. makes 466rwkw bizkets I dont think Morpowa wanted to push it any further on the stock engine lol
-
well raced the car today, was 36 degrees so pretty damn hot and at least 10 degrees hotter than when I last ran it with my nizzy cooler. picked up 3mph and about 0.2sec over my previous pb. Ran on full street trim again with my sh*tty $159 20in tyres lol. So I will say that the cooler is doing its job well. had plenty of wheel spin first through second so was pretty stoked to squeeze out a 10

Well the killer setup is mostly due to Jon Bailey's skill with fabricating, It's him who I refer everyone on to

yeah I bet Arronm, my last FG was a manual (had full boost at 3100rpm) and I had the nizpro stage 3 kit on it (GT3540 turbo as well). Used to dump it in 4th at 60kms and just toast the tyres. was the best fun, got smoked by all the autos though lol. I bought a new FG (with a ZF) and swapped the parts across and the difference between the two was night and day. The zf robbed so much power and the power curve was so pathetic that I outright hated the car (same tuner used). Since replacing almost every part except the exhaust and changing tuner the car now feels very much like my old manual in terms of aggressive boost but without the slow gear changes.
-
Lol Jet, hopefully I'll have more info soon. mph (as I doubt I'll hook up) should help tell the story. I definitely plan to run my sh*t tyres as that's what I did when I went to the drags last so it will be a fair comparison. zf just has to survive until then. I have been waiting for a tune this aggressive for ages, but none of the tuners I've visited have seemed inclined to do it... until now. I run a GTX3582. though I do make peak torque 200rpm earlier in the rev range than what I did prior to fitting the cooler obviously boost does comes on earlier though. I also have upgraded to 3in hotside and colsdside piping. 2900rpm is pretty crazy, must toast tyres almost instantly. what turbo do you use? is yours a manual or auto?
-
I dont doubt that you're correct rednose. My arse on the seat says the same thing just out of curiosity did you find you lost power in the top end by bringing the boost on harder and earlier? Hopefully I can get the back to back run data soon and that will provide for good discussions as it was meant to be running the same boost as when I ran it up a few weeks back. Cheers Jon, I'd like to run my street tyres just for a more direct comparison first and I would really like a 10sec pass on them. after that I might put on the ets

Arronm there's no boost curve on either graph to determine what boost is commanded in at what revs. What I do know is that it runs 1psi less boost and it picked up 14rwkw and 100nm. I was also under the impression that if the boost was commanded earlier then you would expect a lower maximum power figure as the turbo will be generating more heat for a longer period? Back to back run data and/or data taken from the strip should help to prove or disprove this cooler.
-
yeah its a bit difficult to see whats going on where the torque and kw lines cross. but between 3000rpm and 4000rpm it picks up about 160rwkw. yeah will probly come out to meet you all but not sure if I will follow the cruise, will likely be extremely hungover lol

lol Ben I was just in the process of writing it up, and to be honest I have pretty useless information in terms of how well the intercooler performed (still waiting on the 5 back to back run data). anyway what I do have is the final dyno sheet for power and torque. I've posted both my original e85 tune at 21psi and my new one at 20psi (changes include second 044 pump and overboost issues sorted by replacing cracked exhaust housing). Between the tune conducted this time last year and the current tune its picked up in about 100nm of torque and between 30-45rwkw across the mid range. top end power only increased by 14rwkw though this is with 1psi less boost. Biggest change has been driving experience, boost comes on so Fcuking hard that it makes me feel ill... I love it but need a lot softer tune for daily duties as I cant see the gearbox surviving the weekend. Drags are on next time im home from work so will see if I cant run that 10 second pass on my sh*tty $159 tyres, this will hopefully shed some more light on how well the new cooler is performing Will have more data as soon as my tuner emails it to me. Cheers, Jarrad

air temp thermometer is kept inside the dyno room so that it measures actual room temp being that its sealed. I believe the intake temp thermometer was placed in the line that used to connect to my blow off valve (run overboost valve now) or some line that looked very similar. I will clarify when I pick up the vehicle

No luck Ben, the extra pump I had fitted on my surge tank has sent my regulator off the deep end :/ ordered a new reg and fitting kit today from plaz
-
ah nice, cant complain about free parts.
-
Unfortunately im upgrading the fuel system and sorting out my overboost issues (new exhaust housing, port job and actuator) so direct back to back runs are out the window. so will have to settle for same boost and possibly timing depending on power level. luckily the temperature today is almost identical to when I ran it up 3 weeks back. what cooler do you run arronm? do you run an ethanol fuel? tube and fin coolers allow a lot more air to pass through to the radiator then a bar and plate cooler will. ethanol fuels burn cooler as well.
-
indeed it would be a good comparison to the process west stage 3 as this cooler is 480 x 430 x 100. the nizpro cooler was/is 480 x 440 x 80 and suffered 5 degrees of soak after the first run. had my tuner done more runs I believe this would have been an exponential figure. based on the stock temp gauge the car is running the coolest it ever has so I doubt I'll need a new radiator. and as far as quality goes that's one of the reasons I no longer run the Chinese bar and plate coolers that saturate the market. The only data I have for the last cooler is already posted, I will chat to my tuner when I hopefully collect my car today. hope to do at least 3 back to back runs if not more at the same boost pressure as the previous cooler and see how it fares.

my bad Jon, I only measured the core itself, I say BenDoCo was only half right haha.
