  1. Haha im predicting a few four putts to start Rab.. Never used anything but a blade putter.. Hopefully this might help me with getting the direction right..
  2. Always wanted to join the defence force.. Wasn't a monetary motivation either.. Never made it in.. Hats off to the blokes that do.. I think they deserve more.. Especially for OS deployment.. Fark me as a govy engineer you earn 20-40k more in the roads department than you do in the defence force..
  3. mate I once considered the same thing and got warned off.. I was told that if you have an active brain you will go stir crazy driving a dump truck in the mines.. I always wanted to be a grader operator.. Be like icing a cake.. Imagine how smooth and awesome I could make the haul roads..
  4. Hey I'm that go to guy also.. And not just for the company I work for.. Up to a certain level of government I think they actually say 'Oh it's f*cked up.. Should we call in panda now..' Then some bsatard says 'Nah.. We'll just let it get a bit more f*cked up.. Then call him'
  5. Haha all good mate.. I work with blokes who've been in the same job for 30 years and complain they don't get ahead.. But they are just waiting for everything to be handed to them on a silver plate.. They never thought that they need to apply for a promotion.. Or ask the boss for a promotion.. When I took a position with the company I left the government for I didn't think it through.. I left for probably $50 more per fortnight than I was (But with paid overtime thrown on top).. Since working my arse of for this company and sucking up some really sh*t work locations and long times away from family, I have nearly gotten to 3 times my initial income in under 3 years.. (calculate that compared to CPI.. works out alot better than sitting around waiting for your 3% and bitching about 2.5%). You know truthfully fluff, investment houses aren't my thing.. Good on you though.. I think real estate is a fairly safe bet. Are you and Jet doing self managed super through real estate? P.S. And Don I'm hoping that soonish (early next year) I'm gonna get to go for a few long weekend breaks and adelaide is on my list.. beer is on me
  6. Chuffed I got a mention in Don's story.. May have teared up a little.. Oh and fluff I learned this saying to be true a long time ago.. Never argue with idiots.. They will only drag you down to their level..
  7. Just smashed a Japanese Curry.. Sensational..
  8. Serious question is serious... But why would you eat raw brocolli with a fork?
  9. Bit of googling says try again in 24 hours.. or join a random TF and then try again.. not sure which one works.. Sorry dude.. I won't push any buttons next time.. Or I'll play on the tablet where the buttons are bigger..
  10. Umm.. I just wanna apologise to whoever 'grettys' is.. My fat fingers pushed the wrong button.. Please try and join again.. Sorry..
  11. This one was in foil wrap.. By the time I got back to the office it was nice and moist.. Went down okay.. Sitting like lead in the stomach now though..
  12. Just smashed a KFC hashbrown double.. With 6 nuggets, Large chips.. Had to let the softdrink go.. Didn't have enough room in my stomach.. That's a whole lotta deep fried meat right there..
  13. Morning Keithy.. You start a new thread for continued debating?
  14. Big Bertha are awesome gear.. If that big Bertha is the adjustable version you'll never consider teeing off with your fairway again.. I was using a D100 driver.. But with an all or nothing driver swing (yeah I don't hold back) I was underwhelmed by the lift it gave the ball.. If you like chipping you'd love a loft wedge or 60 degree wedge.. Can be 20 metres from the green put a full swing and it goes higher than it does long and drops and stops on the green.. Pitching wedge is fine, I generally use sand on a closer shot just to get more backspin on it to pull it up.. Find a pro shop that stocks the stuff you like on eBay.. My local pro shop can do prices cheaper than online when you factor in postage (and he fits the clubs to you).. But mainly you want to swing the driver a few times first before ousting a few hundy on it.. Good luck! Hope you keep kicking jets arse.. PS jet if she keeps out driving you go buy an oversized driver.. May not be able to enter comps with it but she won't come close off the tee..
  15. It'd make an interesting debate.. I stand by my luck argument though.
  16. Haven't had a holiday since September last year (1 week).. Spent that week on stradbroke Island with a laptop responding to RFI's on a 40m tender package we'd just released.. Just got told no holidays from now till March.. Ironic sine my boss is in Melbourne for a week off and another boss is on a 3 week fishing trip. Mate I know what it's like to usually be able to cope with work, but it doesn't take too much extra stress outside that to push you close to burning out.. Especially if there is uncertainty about your job/love life/ finances etc.. Those will break most people.. If you can take a break, take it.. Even if you don't get away.. Put the phone down, don't check emails, sleep in a couple times and have a want without worrying if the dude in the bunk under you can hear..
  17. The thread is 'what's pissing you off'.. Spose we can complain about anything :-P
  18. I'm with J@ there.. And again not looking at you Keith.. We're well aware you bust your hump.. Still a big believer that there is a certain element of 'luck' to some people getting ahead.. Be it taking the right risks at the right time, being recognised as a hard worker at the right time etc.. Some industries (and yes IT is one of these) there are very few jobs where people get properly recognised (eg: advancement opportunities) for the effort that goes into it.. Even I can admit my career has been a few gutsy calls at the right time, seen by the right people. I'm lucky to work in an industry where you get recognised for effort and the end result.., not for 'playing the game'..
  19. Few courses like that near me.. Membership only gets reduced green fees.. But they are only about 1.2k per year.. Building a club set is fun fluff, but as you get more expensive you get a lot finer club heads.. This is turn makes some clubs a lot less forgiving. So an amateur might find that they play a lot better with a 'cheaper' club because they are meatier.. I also use an almost complete WIlson Staff D100 set (not top line but still around $1500 at the time), but my 60 degree wedge, hybrid, putter and driver are all hand picked from various brands (Nike, Cleveland, Callaway and Taylor Made) because those are the clubs I rely on to pull me out of the sh*t.. I love PGA course par 5's though.. Long straight and generally fairly wide.. I have birdied par 5's and par 4's but it's still a great day when I only bogey a par 3 over water.. Anyway going golfing this Friday I hope.. Can't wait.. Oh and for chits and giggles.. Play 18 holes with a motorised buggy.. Play the same course with a push cart.. Play the same course carrying your bag.. Compare scores.. Always a laugh..
  20. Taking out 2nd.. In the office $1 sweepstake.. Bombed out in the $5, $10 and $20 ones
  21. I hate you all!!! God damnit.. Still waiting on melbourne cup pizza.. Starving.. Oh on that note.. I'm getting a new putter for golf.. For how much it costs I'm sure it's got a 1 putt policy.. Else wise it's going up the dude at the pro-shops arse..
