Well my Rota Grid R's arrived earlier this week from Vision R. I got tyres fitted to them yesterday and fitted them on my car. I got 245/40x18 on the front, and 285/35x18 on the rears. These fitted nicely, guards have been rolled. :good: Thanks to the guys at Taleb Tyres for all their help. Seems to grip a bit better than before...........sorta Took a quick pic, will take more later. -

Rang up Visionr and talked to them regarding the fitment of the rims I said in previous post. Was told I may have to modify trailing arms on rear to give clearance. Has anyone had to do this? I think rad on post #51 has the set up I require?! Rad, did you have to modify your trailing arms at all? Rednose, what is the offset of your Rear rims? Thanks for any info. -
They may grip better after a burnout, but its hard to do that at a set of lights on the street.

Timetaker thanks for your info .

Thanks for that insightful bit of wisdom re: hub dyno........I and everyone else on the forum probably didn't realise that! However, I didn't expect them to grip as bad as they do after some of the comments I have read about them. I expected them to grip a substantial amount better than the cheaper tyres I had on previously, which came on the rims when I bought them, however this wasn't the case. They did grip a bit better, but not as good as I expected. It is very difficult to accelerate with any degree of urgency with them at all. Pressure is at 30-32 psi, for daily driving. I don't need stock rubber on to be a laugh...........these are bad enough! After reading another thread, the Michelin Pilot Sports sound like they might be worth a try?

Rota Wheels, Who's Got Them And What Size's Ba-Bf

Was thinking of getting a set of these on my BF http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150740519794?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 These with 275/35 x 18 Nitto Invos on the rear, and 245/35 x 18's on the front. From what I have read, these should fit o.k shouldn't they? Would I have to get the rear guards rolled? I currently have 245/35 x 19 Nitto NT05's on the rear and they are pretty cr@p in my opinion, I am hoping the wider invo's will be a LOT better! Thanks for any info. -
I have 245/35 x 19 NT05's on the rear of my car and they are pretty cr@p. No where near what I expected. I am considering going to a different set of rims, and putting 275's invos on the rear..........hopefully they will grip better!?

Don't doubt your crotch rocket is quick, have you actually done a 9.95@148mph on it, or is that just manufacturers claim? Not only does it depend on how good a rider a person is, I believe it largely depends on the road as well. Without going into your previous posts for evidence, I'm assuming by your attitude you are an excellent rider? Have you actually been in a GTR R35? They really do handle and perform extremely well given their size. I've been the passenger in an R35 on a tight twisty bumpy tree lined mountain road, and I would love to see a bike try to go as quick......ah then again maybe not! The GTR has hugely more tyre on road contact and AWD for grip as well as big brakes. Not doubting that on the right type of road your suicide missile would show the R35 its "stock" tail pipes, but I think on the road I was taken on, you'd meet your match......or your maker!?
-
"Conditions being good" means that they have heat in them and the road surface is grippy, otherwise forget it. They aren't a real expensive tyre, so in the end, I suppose you get what you pay for.
-
I put a couple of Nitto NT05's on the rear a couple of weeks ago, 245/35x19 in size. Conditions being good, my car usually starts to "Hook Up" towards the top of 3rd gear, 1st and 2nd gear is pretty useless once any decent boost builds up. Better than the tyres I had before......grip was pretty much non existent with them. My car has a ZF 6 speed, standard stall.

I was going to join Kev on the cruise. Why doesn't everyone just meet at the original spot, Caltex at Heathcote, and make a decision then!? I'm in Albion Park, and its not raining here ATM. -

Wish my car sounded like that! -
Awesome power, would be fun to drive.......hows the grip level, or should I say, lack there of
-
Just wondering what excuse do you use which enables you to drive an F6 on P's?
-
Good result there. From experience, I know your car would be fun to drive with that much power. I have a Process West Plenum on my car, and am having no problems regarding 'leaning out'. Its all in the tuning, and Tunehouse is one of the best. Enjoy your car.
-
Considering the cost for a Bugatti Veyron ($1,000,000.00 +), you would expect it to be quicker. But that white GTR went pretty good in comparison. An even standing start race between those two would've been interesting up to say 200km/h.
-
Didn't with mine, it just wouldn't shift out of 4th gear up to 5th under hard acceleration. Same as I said. Just get it rebuilt stronger, and you will be fine.
-
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I would say your gearbox is stuffed. My gearbox was doing exactly the same thing, apparently it was slipping badly. From what I was told, basically there are 2 sensors, one on each end of the gearbox, and if they detect more than 5% slippage the gearbox won't change gear.

I am going to be very keen to see the results of the cars running on BP Ultimate. I personally would like to see the cars being run with the tune that they drive on the street with every day, but I suppose the big HP cars will be tuned to the limit!? Anyone care to guess at some of the power levels the winning cars will end up with? Tray_182005's 480 @ 21psi is pretty impressive, and I expect would be one of the highest if he was to run it in the Pump Fuel competition? Some good prizes up for grabs to.
