Spotted a Orange FG XR6T with Orange wheels near Bundoora. Sounded nice! Anyone on here?

Rollin the point is that you only have 315rwkw. Why have you even got the opt5? Going by the ratings an opt3+ should be fine for your car. The main discussion of this thread is why are the clutch dying below there ratings,Of course your clutch is going to hold up,Its rated for over 550rwkw. Dosnt seem like we will get an answer to why as it seems everytime a clutch has been slipping no one is sending them back to Mal Wood to be diagnosed. Nice videos by the way!

Thanks for clarifying that Paul. Like I said my car isnt even up and running yet, Just abit nerve racking when I came across this thread and seen the problems people were having with the opt5. One thing I will say though is you said about taking a new ford to the track and breaking a tailshaft as an example, What do you expact people to be doing with a 550+rwkw rated clutch? There not buying it just because it looks good, 99.9% of them will be using them at the track and expect them to hold up whether they are using street tyers,Semi's or full slicks.

I understand what your saying but Rollins car is still irrelevant to this, at the end of the day his car only has 315rwkw. I should be able to drive my car as hard as him with 550+rwkw and not have a problem going by what use advertise. My clutch has been bedded in and will be hitting the track in a few weeks which is why I'm post in this thread so much as I'm trying to work out how much power this clutch can really take in all conditions
-
Did you contact mal wood after the first and second clutch died?
-
Yes I understand you have to bed the clutch in, I would hope most people would no that. Like I said there's a few people on here that killed there opt5 with well under the rating but won't comment back on whether or not they have contacted use about it. I'm just hoping I haven't wasted $2000+ on a clutch that will die on my first outing at the track. I find it hard to see how Rollins car is relevant to this conversation as his car was only making around 300rwkw, doesn't matter how hard he drives it, you would expect the clutch to hold.
-
All I want to no is how much power can the opt5 take? Mal on here has said it will take 600+rwkw with ease, you personally paul have told me it will take 600+rwkw which im aiming for. Your site says it will take 500+rwkw and you just said then it will take 550rwkw:s A few people on here have killed there opt5 with under 400rwkw but have not commented on wether or not they have got in contact with use after the cl.utch has sh*t it self. Also which ED are you speaking of?
-
So the min I hit the track and my opt5 slips with well under the power limit I was told it can handle use will tell me to piss off because it has seen track time?
-
Well all these people that have f*cked there opt5 with under 500+rwkw have they gone back to mal wood and asked for there money back or an explanation? Because if mine dosnt hold up that's exactly what ill be doing. Mal himself has even said it will take 600rwkw on this very forum! http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/41540-which-clutch/ And to say it will take 600rwkw on the street but not on the track that's bullsh*t,Dont advertise it can take X amount of power when it cant in all conditions.
-
At what power level were they dying at?
-
Wow I hope everyone is wrong lol. I went with a opt5 for my build and was told it will take 600+rwkw on the track no problem.. That 8 second manual VLT is running a Jim Berry clutch. Fastest H pattern car in Australia..
-
There not quite that bad imo,Wouldnt use one if it was a daily though. Same gose for a lokka or a KAAZ,There just as bad. Never been in a car with a Trutrac. LSD all the way if its a daily.
