Had a problem very similar if not identical, turned out being the coil pack failing under load.

Ok This is what I found on training new keys,, You will need to have 2 coded keys available if you wish to train a new key. ensure you have all keys present during recoding as any key not present will be removed from the memory. Sit is the drivers seat with doors closed Put the first coded key into the ignition & turn to the ACC position. Turn this key to the OFF postition & remove the key. Within 5 seconds put the 2nd coded key into the ignition & turn this key to the ON postition. Turn this key back to the OFF postition and remove the key. The door locks will then cylcle to indicate that the learning mode is active. Within 5 seconds put the new 3rd or new key into the ignition & turn to the ON postition. The door locks will cycle 3 times to indicate the 3rd key has been trained , ensure you wait for the locks to finish cycling before turning the key to the OFF position. Repeat this step for any following keys , The 4th key trained will cycle the locks 4 times, and so on. you can train up to a maximum of 8 keys. your new key should now be coded to your car. Problem is its a new barrel how will my original keys train a new barrel and keys??

Thanks Ralph, So I cant take the chip from my original key and put in new key?

Hi all Turbo heads, Question, can I replace the ignition key barrel only, My 3 yr old son stuck a stick in the ignition and snapped it off and me being filled with rage couldn't find a way to remove it sensibly so I got the drill out and drilled it out, Success, So I thought, Key went in, Car starts, Car shuts down, Oh Crap,,, Cant get key out, I damaged the key entry gate and it catches on the end of the key on the way out, Back to Rage,, LOL I see a lot of people are saying the whole column need to be replaced as the barrel cant be removed, But I found that the ignition can be removed and a replacement can be purchased, I need to know , does the barrel itself need coding along with key or can I just replace the barrel and take the immobilizer chip out of my existing key and put in new key..

Hi Guys, I am unsure if im doing damage or its the way it was meant to sound, I installed a new inter-cooler a new cold air intake and an earls oil feed line , after a full eight hour shift on the car I decided to take it for a test run, negative terminal had been off for an hour or so, reconnected negative idled for ten min, checked all work carried out to make sure nothing was missed got into the car left the drive and bam more turbo noise then ive ever her in 5 yrs of having the car, I cant take a pic of the bay because its to dark to get a good shot but I have edited an image from the net to show how my BOV differs from standard, Also I will upload a vid if I can,,, or wav I look forward to any knowledgeable opinion,

Hi Guys, Just after some advise, I have a ba turbo ute and had replaced the turbo recently but because I havnt put the foot down for so long I have only just noticed something happening to the engine when I put my foot down, At half way everything does what it was ment to do but when I put it to the floor it feels like a cylinder drops out, It's only doing it at high boost, Can anyone give me an idea to what it is? What About the exhaust manifold to the head?
-
Hi there, Im expecting my turbo back from rebuild and porting soon so im just unsure if you torque the turbo manifold bolts as well as the exhaust manifold bolts, If so how much, I think the exhaust manifold bolts are 27nm. Any help would be appreciated.

If the tail shaft is not balanced exact it will be going through bearings like hotcakes, Just thought I would put that out there

Thanks a million got the turbo out and sending it in on Tuesday to get the rebuild high flow & wategate porting. Once again Thanks

But then the crap will end up in the turbo so isnt the whole point of having a filter is to extend life of the turbo.
