1. They're guessing that it has been flashed if that's the case. A counter saying how many times it has been flashed doesn't say much - I didn't buy the car from the local dealer. The dealer I bought it from may have reflashed it with updates a few times.
2. Sorry maybe my question was not clear - I'm not thinking the factory slot was overwritten - I was thinking when flashing the car back to factory is it possible it doesn't revert ALL data in the ECU back to stock, and leaves some things in their altered state?
3. Hi All When reverting to a factory tune from the stock tune, with no other mods, does the factory tune stored in the flash tuner COMPLETELY revert back to the stock tune. By this I mean are all fuel, boost and timing maps overwritten completely with the factory tune stored when you first perform a flash tune. The reason I ask is I am getting some pinging at high RPM which I am investigating, but assumed it would be resolved by going back to the factory tune - thinking it was just too much boost/too hot/too much timing or something. I never had any pinging on the stock tune before flashing the car. However, it now pings even after reverting to the factory tune. I am not looking to diagnose the pinging (I have a different thread for that and am changing plugs, fuel filter this weekend to see if that helps). I am just wondering if flashing it back to stock does a complete job or whether it possibly leaves some of the data in there that was altered by the flash tune, which would explain why the car could possibly be pinging even after running the stock tune again. I am guessing this is probably not the case and I need to be looking at other things as I am (fuel filter, fuel pump, plugs, coil packs etc.) Car in question is a BF2 T Adam
4. Plugs, fuel filter and thermostat are happening next weekend If no good then I'll take it back to Ford to see if they can test the coil packs and fuel pressure Funnily enough I just remembered I used to have a similar problem with my BA Futura doing the same thing. It would feel like it had heaps of timing in it and go like a rocket and then pinging, and settle down after that. It had not been modified in any way - maybe its the weather up here
5. I know who tunes them here and ... it is bleak.
6. Yeah they are a bit of a shocker - that's why I didn't buy the car here. Trying to rip me off blind on a used one and they left me with "mate we could sell that car any day of the week..". Was still on the lot months later. I ended up paying thousands of dollars less for a demo BF2 from Melbourne instead of a used BF in Darwin. I know there is a CAPA accredited tuner up here, but I really would not like to play russian roulette with the car - I'd take it to C&V or Nizpro.
7. That won't solve the problem if there is something else wrong though will it I.e. gunky fuel filter, fouled plugs etc? A custom tune is a $3000 proposition for me - getting the car to a tuner (I'm in Darwin) and then paying for the tune and return trip.
8. Hi All Having a bit of a problem with pinging on my 06 BF2 XR6T. I got a C&V generic tune a while back, and only other mod is F6 CAI. It was running fine on the 8psi tune for some time, and then started pinging under full throttle acceleration between 3500 and 5500rpm. It is very brief and far from violent (just sounds like a little "tink" and then goes away) but is reproducible in most situations. I don't believe it is related to the tune as I checked the tune on a dyno and AFRs were safe, and it still happens on the factory tune as well. I always run PULP (95 ron) but have tried a few tanks of Ultimate and it makes no difference whatsoever. I have asked Ford to look at it and they came back with the helpful conclusion 'try filling up on PULP instead of ULP' after I had already informed them I always run PULP minimum. So where can I start looking? This weekend I was going to change the plugs, gap them to 0.8mm (gap is not the cause - happens on the factory tune), change the fuel filter, and install the lower temp thermostat that C&V provided. 10psi Tune

I was under the impression the flash tuner stores your factory settings when you first use it, and that the car in question would no longer have the factory tune to load into the box.
10. queenstown + T = awesome
11.
I'm in for this too, can you send me payment details also.
is it too late for those still wanting to get in?
12. I'm in for this too, can you send me payment details also.
13. a turbo timer could have prevented this sorry to hear mate
14. May not be possible on an R-Spec or a phoon with leather and sunroof, but its certainly possible on a normal phoon. In fact $55k seems to be the going price for a BF2 phoon if you shop around. Here's a starting point http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/deale...ns&__Nne=20 $56,985 driveaway and its an '07
15. Neo with ZF is where its at!
16. You don't have to let it run at all.... that's why turbo timers on these cars are a waste of money. Water and oil cooled bearing.

More Probs

I had this issue (BF2) after an edit/dyno run. Both DSC and ABS lights remained on. Restarting the car did not clear them.. but after a short drive they had gone and haven't come back.
18. The keys were stolen from his house while he was on holiday. Relatives knew it had been stolen when they received a call from Quiktrak
19. I bought one from C&V for $35. haven't fitted it yet.
20. So is anyone aware of any post 06/06 or phoon motors that have bent a rod and moderate power levels (300rwkw)?
21. The ABS and DSC lights finally cleared! Had to take it for a run to clear them. Even after reflashing the lights were still on, so I was freaking out a bit.. but seems to be fine now I'm going to reflash to the 10psi tune tonight and take it for a run.. should be awesome as the curve of the 10psi tune has a whole lot extra under it than the 8psi tune.
22. Thanks to everyone involved. Was great to have my expectations being met.. especially the 208rwkw with the factory tune!
23. I'll flash mine back to stock and come down for a before and after dyno run (I'll give them a call in the morning first to check that its OK). I'm only going to run the 8psi tune - check that its safe and get a power reading.. hoping for 200rwkw stock to 230rwkw or so with the tune Probably dreaming ...
24. No difference to selecting reverse. It's the 6 speed auto. C&V tunes.
25. Smylie, do you work for Hidden Valley Motors? Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the flash tuner Chucked in the 8psi tune for last night for a bit of fun - one word, awesome - and no sign of pinging or flat spots etc. Adam
