If you have a Ford only tend to help outside of warranty when the car has a full FORD service history and the warranty has only recently run out. You would also have to shout pretty loud - your average dealership would see it as a pay day - contacting Ford directly about the issue (through the customer relationship centre or in writing) is probably the best way.

Given that yours is an '09 and if you didn't purchase extended warranty, it's going to be expensive, your trans will likely need to be rebuilt or replaced. Don't drive it, you risk further damage. Merry christmas indeed.
