  1. Finally got the car sorted out and its back to what I am use to and expect from a T. Purchased a factory wastegate actuator from GCG Turbos. I took the car to a mechanic and he pulled the turbo out and fixed a few other minor things in the process and fitted the new actuator. So simple, after all the dramas I went through with Ford and the other 'tuners' - all for just 4hrs work.
  2. I am in Cairns, I have been to two 'tuners' so far and niether seem to care about what needs to be done. It's hard to find good service up this way.
  3. Hi all, Just had problem with my car being diagnosed as a wastegate fault issue. Apparently it needs to be replaced with a new one. My car is completely standard running factory boost so I will need to replace it with a similarly sized actuator so I dont have to have the car retuned. Ford do not supply these without the turbo attached so sourcing one from Ford is impossible! Does anyone out there have a resonably new Wastegate Actuator that they want to part with, or where can I find a factory sized actuator? I need to get this problem sorted. Cheers
  4. As the title suggests, I am looking for a reputable mechanic / tuner who will be able to fix my car and provide a basic tune up who is located in or around the Cairns area. Possibly have a problem with the wastegate and dont want to take it to Ford who are going to charge me the earth to diagnose a problem that they have never heard of / know how to repair when it is diagnosed. Thanks
  5. I have read a bit of info on here about possible causes and will try a few fixes myself however if the problem persists I will have to get it repaired by a mechanic. I am in cairns so it may be a little difficult finding a decent mechanic/tuner to look at it for me. Any suggestions in or around Cairns guys.
  6. Need some help with my car and thoughts/opinions on what could be going wrong. The car is standard 03 BA with rear muffler removed. I have begun to notice a power loss on boost at speeds normally above 80km at high rev ranges. The car is now boosting from the stock 5PSI to 10-11PSI. However when it hits this boost level at speed the car seems to lose all power from that point and will not accelerate any further (it feels as though the rev limiter is coming on too soon). Otherwise the car drives normally under normal driving. I have taken the car to Ford to have the problem diagnosed - the mechanic took the car for a drive and has apparently never come across the problem before. He then checked the car and diagnosed several faults saying that all could be caused by the following/preceeding fault that was listed. One major fault code that came up was 1677 - Wastegate fault (over- pressure). The mechanic went on to say that the actual problem could be difficult to locate and suggested I provide a limit on the amount I wanted to spend to get the problem repaired - he gave no indication on what the problem could be. Any ideas on what the problem may be, before I spend money replacing things that COULD be the cause. Cheers
