Ok. I am getting a Falcon. I am going to get an AU XR but unsure wether to get a 6 or 8. Of course I would prefer an 8 every time but is it worth the extra fuel and insurance? What is the fuel usage of a XR6 Vs XR8 in the utes? I am only going to consider series 2 or 3. Going to buy this week guys so help me out! Thanks guys!

The 2.7L Hilux is a petrol and they go ok.

How much difference do you think there would be in fuel consumption on these 3 cars. Toyota Hilux 2x4 2.7L AU 4.0L BA 4.0L I need to get a ute for work and don't want to spend more than $20,000. I was just going to get a Hilux but the prices are still fairly high on a 2nd one ($15-18 for a good one). For under $20,000 you can get a really good AU XLS or maybe a XR6 for that or a base BA. These are obviously a better car to drive and have a great interior but the engine is twice as big. I just want to drive to work and back and put a bike in the back occasionally. Hilux's hold there value really well too where Falcons are not so good at that. I suppose that when you buy one under $20,000 it is the other person who lost the most so it isn't that bad I guess. Which would you all get? (Please no anti hilux posts. They are good cars for what they are) Thanks!

This is the exact sort of thing I'm after. I would rather deal with quality cars sold at the right price. I don't want to rip people of like a Parramatta Rd dealer. I would rather offer great service and get paid well for it.

No one else with any advice/stories?
-
I'm wanting to find out more about working in the industry. What is it really like? What sort of training (if any) do you get? How do you get paid and what is a realistic expectation if you are good at it? I have read a few ads in the paper and it sounds good but I was wanting to know what it is really like by people who have done/doing the jjob. I know it isn't for everyone and not everyone in suitable but if anyone has any good advice or stories (horror) that would be great. You can PM me if you want. Thanks!

I know it's a long shot on here but is any one here a good prestige car salesman? Thanks!

I also like the TS50. That's one tough looking car. I hate the standard BA headlights as they look to flat on the bottom or something. The XR looks mich better.

Hi guys, after my previous "buying a ute" post I have decided to buy a Ford Falcon ute. I don't know what sort yet buyt hope you guys can help. I would love an BA ute but I don't really want to spend more than $25,000 just to go to work and back but I do want it to look and go good still for that money. I know the AU cars copped a bit of flack form people but are they really that bad in the utes? Which is the pick of them? I know you can get good 2000 AU2 XL's that look nice for $17-20,000 and XR6 and 8's for around the $23-25,000 mark. Is it really worth the extra for the XR's? Is the 5L V8 really that much better than the 6? I know it would sound better but is it worth 5,000 more? Auto or manual? Any dramas with these? Thanks guys.

Don't all reply at once guys!

Hi guys, I am looking to buy a trayback ute for work (I'm a Bricklayer but I only commute in my ute and only has a toolbox in the back at the most) and have been tossing up a few options. I am looking at either a Falcon, 2x4 Hilux 2.7 4cyl or possibly a 4x4 Hilux. I am having trouble deciding as they all have their good and bad points. Falcon - You seem to be able to get an AU2 or 3 for 18-20,000 with Tray and sometimes LPG. Are thes utes any good? I don't want to get an XR really because of the insurance and the fuel. For - Nice cabin and ride. Good looks (for a ute) big tray. Pretty cheap compared to a similar Hilux. Against - Fuel bills? A 4.0L has to be dearer in fuel than a Hilux 2.7 right? Or is it? My old 96 Ford Courier 2.6 4cyl used to drink like a V8! Is LPG good to have or am I better off with petrol? Hilux 2x4 For - $21,000 brand new drive away! Cheapish to run. Big tray. Reliable. Good resale! I have seen idiot selling (or at least trying to sell) their 2000 models for $17,000 or more! Mental! Against - A bit boring inside and out. It does the job but is automotive whitegoods really. Hilux 4x4 Found a really good 2000 Xtra Cab that is beautiful for 25,000 that is fully decked out with mags, bullbar etc with only 80,000k's. For - Looks good and is a real beast! Reliable and good resale. Against - Not as good of a ride as the Falcon. Interior is not as nice or comfy as the falcon. Do I really need to be paying for a 4x4 when I NEVER go off road? I just like the look of it. Any help guys would be great as I want to bey a ute soon!

Do you think it was lowered?

Has anyone put 20's with 35 profile tyres on their car yet? How did they go? Are they a tight fit or are they ok?
-
Does anyone know what is involve with putting big rims on your car? I am going from 245/50/16 to 245/30/20's. They need to be engineered for sure don't they? The wheel shop said that they only need to be engineered if they are wider than 26mm over standard so I am supposed to be fine. I don't believe him. Does anyone know a good engineer to use is Sydney and what does it cost? Thanks!

So Nangkangs are ok overall then? I just didn't want to get them and they be squealing all over the place and have no grip or something. Thanks guys
-
That's what I was told too ZapXR6T. Apparantly Yoko owns 50% of Nangkang. Does the tread patterns look good or sh*t?
-
I was wondering what these tyres are really like? I know they aren't one of the top names out there but are they that bad? Under normal driving conditions and normal driving ie. no burnouts what can you expect to get out of them? I am looking at buying 20 inch wheels and I have been quoted on Nankangs and the price jumps up pretty seriously to get Falkens etc. I know they aren't the highest quality or anything but the guy told me they are made by Yokohama (not that that really matters though) I won't be doing any high speeds really, just the odd traffic light drag. Does anyone have them on there car? Thanks guys.
-
Awesome looking car that particular spoiler looks like it's of a 200SX doesn't it? I think you will find that we can't get them over here a friend of mine who owns GM User Parts says that with the new laws and regulations that have just come in NOBODY can get compliance for a car from 1990 to now. How sh*t is that!
-
It's a hole in the bonnet with a Ford product installed in it. I don't see how anyone other than ford can lay claim to it. That is like someone claiming to have a patent on puting a sunroof in you car. I don't think anyone can stop you.
-
How could you put a patent on it mate? If you want to put one on your car you can just get one from Rare Spares and put it on or I am I missing something?
-
I love it. I think this is the GT they should have built. The current GT looks too similar to an XR8. With a shaker it is a absolute beast!
