  1. Hmm, this sounds so familiar. BA XR6T (2003) NRMA - $1500 I'm 41, wife is 29. Premium has gone up every year I've owned it. (It's leased and a company vehicle so that would explain a little higher but no at fault claims ever!) Rang AAMI. Increasing the excess to $1500 (from $500) put the premium to $550. So extra cost of $1k if we ever make a claim for a $1k saving every year - not hard to work out. Oh and that also included a free windscreen claim per year which NRMA didn't include. 12 years with NRMA with this and the cars before but I'm jack of them now.
  2. I had been told the same thing from gas inject. If you pick up last monts copy of zoom there is a article in there detailing a BA turbo on LPG that was built by Adelaide perfomance engineering (or something a like). Car made 330rwkw ( or there abouts). Trick was the car ran gas injectors up to 250rwkw then made a seemless switch to petrol for the rest of the power range. ← Than the trick will be getting it adr and emissions certified which to get right will cost about 10 grand and that would have to be recouped. Ian ← tis not cheap depends on the state your in will depend on how the EPA laws govern the emmisions testing. I know in NSW its a LOT cheaper to get it done than in VIC but all the same by the time you pay for the installation of the system ect, how long would it take to recover teh costs? 3 maybe 4 years? ← Really depends on your milage. Last year we did around 40,000kms at between 12 & 16L/100km. With a difference in fuel pricing at the moment around 90c-$1 means I'd recover around $4500/yr. Of course it also depends on how long you want to keep the car. With the new brakes (thanks Adam ) and the rebuilt transmission I need to keep it a fair while to recover the cost of those anyway! I'd be happy with 250rwkw on gas!! Mine doesn't do that now - from memory was around 220rwkw at last dyno. Might have to pick up a copy of Zoom. tony
  3. I was speaking to a guy in Canberra about doing this. He said he had issues with getting enough flow from single injectors for the power generated and that a double injector system was needed. With the biggest issue sourcing injectors without a kit. He hoped to have a solution in the next 6 months or so. I'm not sure if this is the same issue you mention? Is it possible to fit a system that produces less power on gas (but probably still good torque down low) with a switch to petrol when needed? Is anyone doing this? tony
  4. Looks like no news at April 2006, anymore now??? If the price of 98 was dear in April it's a killer now and no drop in site :(. Anyone have any news about a successful conversion?
  5. I've been running the E10 (Boost 98) blend in both my modded XR6T and modded Galant VR4 for about 6 months now. Can't say I've noticed any real difference - apart from saving about 7c/L. Around here they charge 3c/L extra for it over standard 91 vs BP & Shell at least 10c/L more. Also if you use Dodo (my MIL does) you can get a card that saves you another 2c/L - this might be United only though. tony
  6. Think my wife will divorce me if I don't get it fixed in the next week . It's my company car but she drives it. I wasn't so much thinking of delaying getting it fixed, more worried about how far I can drive it to get it fixed. (E.g. Windsor is 3-5kms, Granville is probably closer to 40kms). Good idea though to give Spiro a call. He was very good to speak to last time and I'm sure he'll help if he can. If he can fix the transmission I might also get the next lot of mods happening !!!
  7. Is it likely to be damaged driving it further? I.e. will it make it more costly to repair?
  8. In outer Sydney NSW. Looks like I'll have to look into getting it done elsewhere as the contract says "warranty on certain items may be voided due to performance modifications". He said to me "warranty on the engine" but "certain items" is what he wrote so I guess no point in pursuing them. Still waiting on Ford Customer Care to ring me back but not holding my breath on a favourable outcome. ** Hold the press ** FCC were just on the phone. No surprise. Any mod at all voids the warranty and they're not interested in discussing it further. So looks like I'll need to ring around. Any suggestions in Western Sydney? The original work was done by Autotek at Granville and I spoke to Spiro about some additional work about 6 months ago. I'm a little worried about driving it that far as apparently it's vibrating quite badly.
  9. Windsor/Richmond area in Sydney.
  10. Sounds like a few phone calls required. And yes I realise I can take it where ever I want (thanks again Adam ). Just I've never had an auto before and have no idea of what's involved in the repair of the TC. Should they be doing anything to it to make it more "solid" when I get the repair done?
  11. Was purchased almost 2 years ago so no chance of a 2nd hand vehicle warranty. I'm going to chase up the contract of sale. I remember they added a bit in there about the engine not being covered under warranty due to the mods, but I'm not sure there was anything about the drivetrain. Certainly worth looking for. Assuming this goes no where and I'm going to have to pay to get it fixed, that brings up my second question: Any suggestions?
  12. Seems the torque converter has died in my 2003 XR6T. Started making a loud rumbling sound when the wife was driving to work Tuesday. Luckily she was almost outside the dealership. Ford got the "specialist" out to look at it. He drove it, said "yes it's stuffed but I can see from the exhaust it's modified and hence not covered under warranty". That's all I've been told and certainly received nothing in writing. Mods to the car are dual cat back exhaust and a unichip. (Sorry if I'm a little vague - it's was modified before I purchased it from another Ford dealership 2nd hand.) I've now referred this to Ford Customer Complaints to see if I can get any further with them. S'pose my questions are two-fold: 1. Do I have any chance of getting it fixed under warranty? 2. If I have to pay to get it fixed what are my options? I don't want this happening again and am also not keen on paying Ford's generally over inflated prices for repairs. (I haven't even been given a quote yet so it's obviously not going to be good.) TIA, tony
