Think im going to rip this heap of sh*t out and put the original one back in for now. I've taken the filter out should be right without the filter?
-
mine lasted a week or 2 now its f$#$king leaking oil over the turbo, coming out of the fitting or from up the line under the heat sheild
-
Only a couple of mm, 2-3 then run a thread restorer on the end. If you pull them out you can actually see where they are hitting into the alloy, mine had shavings on the end.

Not sure how many others have noticed but my BF T gets a leak from the front cover, goes down behind the water pump and on other side. Its not a massive leak just enough to make a stain. Now the funny part is Byrne Fraud I've been reporting it to go ok we'll have a look, they degrease it and give it back and say oh we couldn't find a oil leak. Few months its back. Turns out the Top cover bolts are too long the star shaped ones. They are hitting on the back of the seat so not allowing the cover to tighten. thankfully a Ford tech told me that. Ground a tiny bit off them screwed back up and you can feel they are now tight not hitting something.

Well after doing all this the car is running as it was when it was new. There is boost again the solenoid clean did the trick. No rough idle anymore nice and smooth and so much more power. Best it has ever run in 4 years but wait, I serviced it not Ford funny that. The whole deal with the tyres despite 3 different rogue Ford places telling me its the lower control arm bushes. I spoke to a workshop tech from a different ford place, he said its simply the XR6 Turbo wheel alignment has way too much negative camber for everyday driving. He said you are best to get it aligned for a standard ford alignment. This I guess would be true as Byrne Fraud did a wallet alignment after I got new tyres.

I honestly can't believe how bad Ford service is. Best advice is to always get a written quote for anything and most importantly don't get the car serviced by them. Turns out I should have just done the job myself wasn't that big a deal after all. After my dealings with Byrne Ford not wanting to do the job properly I took 2 x lower control arms and 2 x uppers (out of car) and new bushes down to Torque Ford Brendale / Strathpine to get them to push out 3 ball joints (one already removed) and install the new supplied ones and also remove the 2 front lower control arm bushes and install the new ones. Now I take the parts down first thing in the morning thinking surely I can trust them that I wont get ripped off. I speak to Michael he quotes $125 per hour and said it should take 1 hour depending on how hard they are to get out. He also confirms that lower control arm bushes are the cause of inner tyre wear. So 5 hours later fairly normal they never get back to you on time he calls and says they are ready the total is. wait for it $303..... Now upon questioning them we are looking at 2.45hours labour to Pop out 3 and install 4 new ball joints. punch out 2 x lower control arm bushes and push 2 new ones back in. After arguing with them this same guy Michael then says not sure why you are replacing the bushes as we never replace them. Yet the day before he confirmed they are the cause of inner tyre wear. So being such a generous bunch they discounted it for me after reading the instructions in the bush kit that states 1.5 hours to replace, mind you this includes pulling out of the car. So all up $215 to do about 30min -1 hours work. As it turns out the kit I supplied was only the front bush later bought the rear lower bush and punched out and pushed the 2 new ones back in, these took about 5-10min each with a chisel hammer and socket. So anyway I'm looking for a new car at the end of the year xr6 turbo, or F6 so told the service manager there they will not be getting the sale and on my way out he said "who cares, we don't want customers like you anyway" This same "Service Manager" said my tyre wear could be from towing heavy loads. yeah mate I don't have a tow bar What great customer service I pitty anyone else that takes their car there.

KYB I think the brand is?
-
that's the thing mate they will only do half a job, whats the point of doing 3 ball joints, 6 months time the other one claps out I've got another $300 tyre rooted and its all got to come out, then another wheel alignment another $110 for fraud. And who the hell does one shock absorber Then the *beep* im talking to answers the phone mid conversation when there is another pleb sitting at his desk doing nothing.
-
1 Stuts rooted in the front. whats the pick to replace with for the pair bursons have a monroe and a ebk?? brand. $180ish for the monroe and $150ish for the other brand anyone familar with them? guy reckons they sell more of the ebk or whatever brand over the monroe and they are much the same maybe better. Would love some Konis but spent enough already.

Well seems I was right I have never met a bigger bunch of mongrel *beep* in my life. So yesterday I'm talking to the wanker there about it and he confirms lower control arm bushes, yeah she's all good we'll do it under warranty no problems. So they have the car for 4-5 hours then ring me, 1 ball joint 1 shock 1 $190 tensioner bearing, labour to fit blah blah blah we are talking around $450 I was close. no problem with the control bushes they rekon. I hit the f*cking roof and went and saw them. Then its 3 x ball joints after talking to him, said can you just do the bloody 4th one while the car is appart and get f*cked doing one shock do the 2. Wouldn't budge, wouldn't give me the parts to do it myself. So I told them to stick the car the warranty and their services up their arse and left. Will be writing a letter of complaint to ford. What a waste of time, I have bought new bushes ball joints and had the car stripped in a couple of hours. Any suggestions as to what brand of strut to get?
-
ok didn't look properly I'm with you now the lower control bushes...... What about the ball joints anyway top and bottom when do these start to play up haven't jacked up and had a look to test as yet.
-
Thanks, good point just noticed the 615 comes with 6mm of tread where it's normally around 8mm.
-
Got to sort out tyres, whats the pick between the nitto and the falken rt 615? I'd say the falkens purely because the nittos look bloody weird. Can get both for $250 a tyre. Any site sponsors in brisbane worth trying?
-
Yep that's the plan will just put 2 on the front, but I keep forgetting the buy the bloody things.
-
Thanks guys. I'm guessing the same goes for the pivot bushes? Sway bar bushes worth doing while its all out too? Are you suggesting the nolathane red type of bush? are these from bursons not ford etc. Don't mind doing it all but would this stuff be covered under the extended warranty? the tensioner bearing is clapped as well should I just take it back to fraud will they just do the bits without a $500 bill or should I just ask for the parts. What sort of dollars are we looking at for the ball joints so I know if im getting ripped or not, this is going to be one hell of a $$ service with 4 new tyres I guess the benefit is its actually being serviced. I can see if I take it to them they will say you need a rotate and balance and the wiper blades need doing too. Will get to the intake manifold when everything comes out to do the turbo line. The fuel filter will get the vice grips on next time, funny thing is my standard ford filter has had one of the edges rounded where some monkey has put the wrong spanner on it, no doubt they just take them out and wash them out and put back in.
