Anyone know what should be done to the ZF to handle 400-450ish rwkw? My input shaft carked it last week. Is a heat treated input shaft and upgraded clutch plates on the first few gears all I should need to beef it up a bit? The bloke at the shop mentioned an output shaft aswell as the torque converter and how much should getting this stuff cost? Ive had a look through what everyone else seems to be paying which is around $3600 for a rebuild, but he reckons it's going to cost closer to 8 grand to get them to buy the parts and fix it or 9K to buy a built box from BTA. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Guys, so I've had the same thing happen to my new GS ute I only bought a week ago and friday I blew the box pretty much exactly as lime turbo did his. The car just free revs in drive/reverse, but when I put it in gear the engine revs decline like it would normally but no movement. Had a quick look underneath the car and everything looked fine. From what I've read its most likely the input shaft? Can anyone recommend what my best option is? Get it removed by a mechanic and then send it to somewhere to get rebuilt, if so can anyone recommend someone marginally close to canberra?

Ahh negatoray, only got air:fuel ratio, flywheel torque and Manifold gauge pressure printouts.

$520 posted for the intercooler, me and a couple of mates installed it ourselves. I know its not the best price but I needed a cooler asap and that was the only stepped cooler I could afford. But it does the job and im happy with it for the moment.

Venom 5 inch cat, monza stepped cooler, coolerworx piping kit, xcal2, 60lb Siemens Deka's, Growler intake @ 14psi I believe. could be wrong though. Install $ 110.00 Cat $ 230.00 Cat Install $ 200.00 Intercooler $ 520.00 IC Piping $ 400.00 Xcal2 $ 350.00 Total $ 3,020.00

Let us know when you find out what it is mate, I think I have the same thing. Does it happen at idle when its warm?

IYHO Reckon its worth the $600 price difference?

Got the car tuned on tuesday, pulled 305rwkw and the tuner said the cooler kept intake temps down alright. On the road after multiple consecutive pulls I can't notice any decrease in power. But it is winter and I do live in canberra so im sure itll be a different story come summertime. Cheers

G'day Fellas, Im in the market for a new clutch for my FG XR6 turbo and my two main options are: - Exedy Heavy Duty Clutch part no. FMK-7892SMFHD (PRICE $1299) Includes: Clutch pressure plate, Clutch Plate, Single mass Performance flywheel and Concentric slave cylinder. AND - ACE Clutches Option 3 + (PRICE $1890) Includes: 11" Billet Steel Flywheel, 11" Billet Steel Burst Proof Pressure Plate with Increased Clamp, 11" High Performance Sprung Organic Composite Plate, Alloy Concentric slave Cylinder, Flywheel and Pressure Plate Bolts, Spigot Bearing I can't seem to find a good comparison between the two anywhere so I though I'd start one. I have heard the opt 3+ is almost as light as the standard clutch but havent heard much about how the Exedy feels under the foot. My mate had an HD Exedy in his BA and it was real heavy. It is my daily driver so I would like the clutch to be as light as possible. Interested to hear what people have to say about them. Cheers in advance

Thanks for your help mick, much appreciated! My tuner found another second hand X2 for me which saved me $500+, so I'll be sending the old one back! Heres a screenshot of the issue, looks like it is actually still locked to the previous owners car. Even though both the owner and tuner thought they unlocked it? Very Strange.
-
Its not accepting the tune by the sound of what he was telling me, what does that mean? By the looks of it im just gna have to fork out the money for a new x3 in the morning. So you never could get the owner supplied x2 that was rejecting tunes to work mick? Any ideas why? Is it possible it was offlined by sct or something?

Its a manual mick, fg.

Hey guys, My car is currently sitting on a dyno with 60lb injectors in it and a new cat welded in without flanges. I bought my X2 second hand off a genuine guy off the forums whom he said Monster Torque in WA returned the car to stock AND unlocked this X2. But my tuner is saying he cant put the new maps onto the car because its saying its vin locked. Ive been on the phone to the bloke I bought it off and I totally believe him, which is making me think my tuner is trying to get an extra couple hundred bucks out of me. I did plug it in when I first bought it to check to see if I could find device married or 'aftermarket' or anything written in it but I couldnt see anything like that. I have heard that there are problems with second hand X2's with this kind of thing but I thought I should be sweet. At this stage its looking like I will just have to buy a brand new X3 tommorrow for $795, is that still the benchmark price for these? Has anyone got any ideas? They would be much appreciated! Cheers, Dean

+1 for this making a massive difference. No more distortion from the sub, the speakers now start distorting before the sub does.

She's booked in for a tune on monday the 9th so I'll let you know how my top notch cooler goes lol, I will be getting a better one when I have the dosh though.

I bought this one straight from Autotechnica
How much would it cost to have someone weld the ballistic cat in? Will it go onto the factory exhaust setup?
from memory I got quoted around $150 a few months ago I think, and then there was an extra fee like $45 ish to remove the restrictor ring in the dump/cat pipe section. But apparently the restrictor ring only exists in euro 4 models onwards.
With the Ballistic Cats, do they come with flanges? And if we were considering doing further upgrades later, would it be worth getting 3.5" in/out or 4" in/out?
No they dont come with flanges, but you could pay the bit extra to have your exhaust shop put some on for you.
-
I completely agree with you, but my wallet doesn't. I most likely will upgrade it down the track. Once I get it tuned and the rest of the work done, if its not keeping intake temps down I'll buy a pwr or stepped process west cooler.
-
If you're reffering to fgxod, im 95% certain that was with the older model monza, not the new stepped one, I was talking to him the other day.
-
Really? I've never come across it before or seen anyone with one. Obviously im the only person silly enough to try it. What he said...
-
Hey fellas, I noticed this new stepped intercooler that's only recently come on the market, so I thought I may aswell be the guinea pig seeing as im in the market for one. The quality doesn't seem very good, a few dodgy welds, and the internals dont look real flash, the fins fold like paper and it wasn't the easiest thing to install, it didn't require any cutting, but had to bend each of the mounting points to get it to fit. Definitely looks the part, still a couple of months off getting the tune so I'll let you know how it goes performance wise down the track. Attached are some photos. My mate about to take to it with the concrete saw
