  1. No worries mate.. thanks for your input.
  2. What are ppl normally running for a low fan speed cut in/out and high speed cut in/out for an 82deg tstat?
  3. Makes sense thankyou ratter. I can see what you are talking about. At one spot it is backwards but yet still too high. The other spot it has bugger all td and is still backwards and too high considering it has a 72degree tstat in there. I am going back as I was advised to check my cooling sys. which I will be flushing out and on my own call swapping the tstat to an 82deg high flow as I believe the 72 is too cold. Basically it will need to be redone anyway.
  4. Thanx quadie I'll check it out when I get back from work
  5. It could be just a simple mistake though guys. The rest of the tune feels smooth as, there is no hesitation anywhere, no audible pinging, feels just as quick as the day it was tuned and no carbon on the back of the car anymore. I'm actually very happy with the way it drives its just this fan issue.
  6. hmmm... F#*K!!!! What am I supposed to do know? Any pointers in what needs to be done?
  7. Timmy-XR6T when you say it then started onto the drivers installation had you not plugged in the xcal at this stage? The Xcal icon only shows up in the device manager when I have it plugged in. It has the yellow exclaimation mark on it. Have already tried right clicking and selecting update driver but it only comes up with automatically find using windows blh blah or find it manually. I will try and find it manually tomorrow when I get hm thru those files u mentioned thanks mate. Failing that will try and re-install http://api.viglink.c..._13171136018661 from this link. IH8TOADS I got this sent to me today about my car. Are you able to see from this if it isnt set right?? It looks like it must be in farenheit,, Down the bottom its has a speed of 30kph/hr or mp/hr dont know what that's about?? I plan on changing my tstat from a 72degree up to an 82degree hiflow as I believe 72 might be a tad cold. What would be my ideal low fan cut in ........ and hi fan cut in........? And cut outs? Thanks fellas.
  8. Tried every usb port went to the device manager on the computer each time also checking in properties for device drivers but still no luck. Anyone got a link to said drivers download for the xcal 3?
  9. I dunno I tried running with it blocked but it just fluttered way way too much imo. The only way I could stop it fluttering on every gear change was by very slowly taking my foot off the go pedal did my head in. Maybe on an auto its betta?
  10. my bro is doing a n/a to turbo conversion. He bought a bf mk2 phoon motor from ford and atomic oil pump gears and crap loads of other stuff. Its not as straight forward as one would think to do a conversion. I mean you gotta get all the sensors, some plugs arent a straight swap either like the plug on the inlet manifold is different and apparently needs to be wired backwards, computer, inlet and zorst valves, 4 bar fuel reg. and that's just a few off the top of my head. It adds to alot more than that little list you write up before you start that's for sure. We both agreed it would of been sh1loads cheaper and easier to just buy a BA mk1 5 peed manual pull the motor out and rebuild it.. he already has a mal wood 6 speed box and a built diff out of a 9 sec xr6 t as he thrashed the standard gear just running a modded n/a.
  11. Probly not the answer you might be after but I know of a site sponsor here running a FG lpg motor with the (standard) higher compression motor + some porting inc. turbo and other supporting mods putting out 380rwkw on PUP.
  12. this one http://www.herrodmotorsport.com.au/SCTPerformanceTuning/SCTSoftware/LiveLinkDataLoggingSoftware/tabid/261/Default.aspx
  13. I had bent fins on my turbo before. Didnt have a choice other than to drive around keeping boost under -10psi which is absolutley nothing until I could get time off work to pull the turbo out and get it repaired. I got Precision turbos to do it in sydney. He fitted a new core kit and got it rebalanced with 1 yr warranty all I had to do was refit it back in the car. Total cost was $900 if I dont inc. coolant and oil. Im assuming you dont have an aftermarket inline oil feed supply filter to the turbo so you might wanna get 1 of those to when/if you are going to go ahead with it.
  14. Do you have a link to the drivers software download?? I can't exactly find it.. only finding updates to the x3 which I understand is a no no. I have read thru some other forums and some are saying its on the device itself and others are saying they downloaded it. If I go by it being on the device itself I have also tried this http://www.sctflash....&kbarticleid=26 but at the point where I select right click and select update driver I get only the option of Allow computer to automatically find drivers and install or I can manually find drivers thru the computer. Doesnt work like it sez in the instructions. If I let it do it automatically it wont find it. If I select manually find I cant find it in the my computer section where I would normally find something like this. Im using Windows vista on like a 4yr old computer so Im abit sus on the computer being the issue. I went into http://www.sctflash....00&GUD=1&GSER=1 and put in my serial number which gave me 3 choices none of them particularly mentioned anything about the drivers download.. Nonetheless if there is a drivers download somewhere that someone knows of that would be tops. Beginning to think these things are a POS!
  15. Happy Birthday Kroozin!

  16. will do
  17. The Driver software is preloaded into the xcal 3 itself right?? Or do I need to download them from somewhere else?
  18. found this guys check it out.. http://www.sctflash.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=view&parentcategoryid=5&pcid=0&nav=0
  19. Ah ok.. I'll give it another crack tonight. I'd say that was the ony thing holding me back going by the fault I was geting. It always seems so simple once you know. Thanks quadie
  20. Nah I never stopped the driver install it just seemed like it couldn't find the driver installation thingy on the xcal3 so it went hunting thru windows updates and other randoms..eventually said enter cd which I did thinking I was on to something but nup still didn't wanna play finicky POS..lol
  21. I also have an xcal 2 aswell.. I had to switch to the xcal3 when I changed tuners as the factory tune was gone on my xcal 2 and it kept coming up with errors when he tried to upload the new tune. Ended buying a new xcal 3 and a tune from ford and it was all good to tune from there... Anyways I probly should try n stick with the xcal 3 but is it worth giving my xcal 2 a shot? Is it likely my car will get confused or some rubbish and leave me stranded? Nonetheless I'm sure we are both missing a step or something silly that is blocking us out.. Anyhow, I went for a 15min drive using the xcal3 to monitor seems to work well. After converting my coolant temps were around 73dgrees (I have a 72degree tstat) and the iat was sitting around 20degrees just cruising along. Here is why I wanted to see what the cut in temps are set at.. ( I have a 72degree tstat) Pulled over and let it heat up I held 1500-2000rpm (for like 3 min) until the coolant temp came up to 98degrees C. Still no high speed cut in from the fans.. The only way I can get the high speed fan to kick in (you can hear when they come on) is by having the AC on flat stick freezing for a while while im parked and idling .It used to come on before this far up the needle range I think it was around 1/4 to 1/2 way and they'd kick in.. I have spoken to my tuner and he assures me he would have done the fan cut in temps when he tuned it.
  22. Hey bud I followed it step by step. I noticed when I plugged in the xcal 3 a install device driver software thing came up which I ignored at 1st. At the point after I press the squiggly line at the top left I get a Connection failed fault. Handheld Device Initializatioon Failed. Then goes on to tell me check my connections, try retarting livelink. Did you come across this aswell? Cant seem to get into any info on the car either like the processor id as the same fault comes up.
  23. that's probly a good idea. It could even have common probs like error code 1043. Hopefully it will be made sticky. Quadie do you know if I would be able to find what my low speed and hi speed fan cut in temps are from the xcal 3 using livelink??
  24. will do. thanx quadie your a champion
