  1. Hey fellas I noticed today while standing at the back of my car that the RHS wheel sticks out further than the left.. I was paying more attention to the wheels sticking out today as I fitted some spacers and wanted to see how it looked from the tail end. Kinda makes me wonder if its always been that way as its something that could have been overlooked in the past.. I not long ago changed my diff and blade bushes. I did make plenty of witness marks though and I'm fairly certain I didnt put it like 10mm to far to the RHS. Also measured from a consistent reference point on both sides of the car to get the cradle 100% square aswell, kinda got me stuffed.. Has anyone encountered this before?
  2. Spoke to soon. Backlash is now a killer with the almost totally solid nolathane bushes. Notice it most when holding a constant speed with a slightly varying load. As it lightly loads and unloads its fairly audilbe. Sounds like something is loose under there but after checking numerous times everything is tight. It definatley feels sharper though under sudden acceleration which is good but driving over 90km/hr on a smooth motorway I can hear a little diff whine there too. I'm going to throw it up on the hoist one last time to check everything is tight and nothing is hitting, since everything has had a bit of time to settle but I dont think I'll find anything. ! thing I did notice though is if I rock/twist the tail shaft side to side there is roughly say 12 to almost 1oclock movement before the wheels start to engage and it seems like all the slack is within the front of the diff. as that is where I can hear the noise as it takes. Is that normal? I can take a vid if that helps..?
  3. Dont forget to grease the slides on the calipers when /if you do the brake pads. I had my pin lock up once before causing the brake bad to stay on slightly.
  4. Changed the 3 diff bushes + the 2 blades today n the r noises are gone..cheers
  5. being in a manual myself I usually just take off in 2nd if Im doing the "its not a race" kinda race against camrys/xt's, etc.. its abit sluggy off the line they may pull 3/4 of a car length but then up and away in no time and ya dont have to do that pesky change up to 2nd. I find the only prob I have is it sounds like your into it if you take off in 1st with these "its not a race races" when driving a manual. Theres kinda a limbo between too much or not enough hence the taking off in 2nd keeping lowish revs and a quick change to 3rd.. lol maybe I should just throw in another muffler...mmmmm nah.
  6. its too bad we have the wrong rear housing for 1 and the other is illegal.
  7. I have this exact same prob. at the moment. Take off in 1st normally and theres a slight thud followed by a bit of a grind. Have to take off real easy to avoid it. Also I went up a steep driveway the other day with a full boot (car is also lowered) and I got that thud, thud, thud noise which sounds like the CV's in a front wheel drive car. I have ordered the 3 bushes for the cradle + the 2 blade bushes in nolathane at the summernats, $330 all up. Hopefully that fix's it. When ford fixed your car was it the diff bushes in the end that gave you these problems??
  8. you'll enjoy it mate. watch the bump after the fish hook though lol
  9. I doubt she'll do it again even if asked to. Sorry to hear about your car dude we have almost had an incident in the rain when the misses was driving it makes ya feel sick in the gut with just a close call. Good luck with the repairs champ.
  10. like vevapower said you will find yourself driving around on the big tune mostly in no time. TBH I would go as far as I could with it "safely" if I were to just go with 1 tune. You dont have to drive around flat stick everywhere anyway also abit/alot of throttle control can help even things out in those spirited moments. If your going to go with 3 tunes I cant see that your really going to have any issues however you look at it.
  11. this is probly a dumb question, but are you guys sure your cars arent pinging?
  12. How much would this combo cost roughly inc. machining and reusing the same head?? 1) http://www.spoolimports.com/spool-engine-rebuild-kits/ford/spool-ford-xr6-rebuild-kit 2) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-BA-BF-Low-Ks-Good-Clean-Engine-Discount-Sale-/150647005302?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231342e076 3) http://www.atomicperformanceproducts.com/oil_pumps_&_components.html
  13. I usually use a 14mm ratchet spanner for 3 of them and the 1/2 inch socket wrench with a 150mm extension bar, felxy head with a 14mm socket for the one on the bottom right if you looking at the turbo from the drivers side front quater panel. Piece of p1ss ya get used to it when they come loose every 5000kms.
  14. turns out im a blondy and bought a mono aux connection. Soldered in the stereo type and it seems ok only I have to have the male cable pulled out a little to make it work on both speakers. Im going to ford next week to buy a direct replacement aux cable and rerun in a new cable so its done properly. I'll take photos of where the cables go to. Hopefully it will help dmr out. I have a copy of the workshop manual dmr but its a pretty big file, not sure how to zip it properly + its for a BF. If you can tell me how too reduce the file size I'll send it straight to you.
  15. Hey fellas, Just recently I have fitted some new lovell superlows paired up with a 30mm front sway bar and a 22mm rear. A 27mm sway bar in the front would be better than a 30mm just there was a mixup when I bought them off fleabay. I had the sway bars fitted about a month earlier than the new springs as I have been working on the suspension progressively. With the new springs the cars ride feels unchanged, as in it is just as smooth as it was before. Its sitting just under 345mm at the front and rear going to the outer edge of the wheel arch giving a nice level stance. The problem is on long 4th gear corners on a smooth piece of road under acceleration the car tends to feel like its rocking kinda left to right or even diagonally if that makes sense. Why? Also the car tends to have that wallowing feel over progressive bumps in the rd sometimes. Is this all due to the shocks needing to be replaced aswell? Its not really a big deal, through the lower gear corners the car feels pretty tight, other than the 7/10's feeling sometimes due to understeer when pushing thru 3rd usually bandaided with throttle control. Thanks in advance for your input
  16. Sorry if this come across as a thread hijack but hopefully this helps us both. There is what looks like 3 cables only the red and the white look as though they are insulated by the cable insulation and the 3rd wire has only heat shrink on it. Pls excuse the poor pic. quality it was taken from my iPhone.
  17. I have a similar prob only I have the actual cable from the prem. Sound and get nothing since I had to replace the female connection no matter which way I put the red and white wire on
  18. Good luck with the tune today dude. Yeah I'm just in that newish suburb behind it. Might pull the pin on today and enjoy the sleep in
  19. no worries champ good luck with the tune what are you aiming for?
