Baboon, This is the best advice anyone can offer, and is what I intend to do. Although I've already got my own house sorted (thankfully before the market went nuts!), don't worry about investing in houses, shares, gold, antiques, paintings, bonds, foreign currency, derivative contracts or anything else whatsoever. Go buy your T. Finance it for 5 years with bugger all deposit. Then....MARRY RICH!!! Get wifey to pay for it. Trust me, I'm an economist. :D
  2. I use a rag with a little bit of glass cleaner sprayed on the rag. If I get that hazey crap on the inside of the windscreen, I use the sponge and car wash, having the sponge slightly wet. Then chamois. Gives a good result if you don't have the Meguiars stuff on hand.
  3. Hmmm...this reminds me why I don't live in country Australia anymore. So much so see and do there
  4. Yeah, along with that boot liner. Gee, I know that'd sway me :D

I'm doing option 2. Would lease except that it doesn't quite suit my purposes. If your employment is not stable, lease will probably be just as bad as you still need to meet the repayments. When you leave your current employer the deed of novation kicks in - ie the responsibility for the repayments is transferred, or novated, to you. You then have to organise with your new employer to have the lease picked up by them. So if you regularly change jobs, it could be a real pain. Alternatively, drug dealers own pretty good cars. Providing you don't consume your own product
  6. Working in a Commonwealth Dept., there aren't a great deal of fantastic cars surprisingly. The Secretary has a Caprice I think, but most of the other Senior Execs cars are pretty average. Someone here owns an M3. But in the motorcycle area, we've got a Hayabusa and a Blackbird, and a couple of real sweet Aprillias. Have only met one other petrol head in the Dept. Although the said petrolhead is a not half bad looking gal, so that's a double score :D We actually have a Happy Hour on in 2 mins, themed a Pit Stop happy hour...plenty of motorsport regalia to go with the theme. Better go check it out!
  7. Ed, That sucks! Glad to hear you got through ok though. Glad to hear it was a relatively low speed accident, pym. Hope that it all gets fixed up OK.
  8. G'day lads. Just noted something interesting. Every now and then I log on to Discount New Cars (Their Site) and hit the XR6 Turbo, and check on the options I want just to remind myself of why I work away in my Dilbertian cubicle (I use their site because it's faster than Ford's to load and update) Anyways, of course their thing is to offer big buying power to us plebs. But also the XR6T being the fantastic car that it is, discounts have been few and far between and they have registered the available discount as $0. They now offer a discount of $1000. I know some here have gotten better, but still...goes to show that the WOW factor does wear off eventually for the market. Just a small tidbit. Have a good'un. Matt.
  9. The gauge on my car actually goes past empty. It also doesn't reach the full mark so the gauge is off skew.
  10. Yep, love it. Was really disappointed when that colour was dropped. Think I might just get that colour...assuming they don't drop it sometime in the next 424 days
  11. Ooooo...just looked at it on the Newfalcon site. Kinda looks like the classey lighter silver that used to be on the AU's.
  12. Like it....it's better than the whine you get from a blonde "BUT DADDDDYYYYY!!!! I WANNA USE THE CAAAAA-RRRR!" :D

    Ap Racing Brakes

Very nice indeed, MS700. A credit to it's owner
  14. How do you actually find out where the original source video is?
  15. Some of the embassies have actually stopped wearing the DC plates, particularly the USA as you can know from the first two numbers after the DC what embassy they're from. So even more measures to ensure they don't draw attention to themselves by just wearing the regular Yogi plates.
  16. Hmmm...maybe I should put one on the Magna  Along with a big Ralliart sticker...hmm...
  17. Just in case you guys got annoyed with the Flash low quality version of that movie, found a link to a high res version High Res Skaife

    Series II XR6T

Indeed. Noone would every buy cars if this was a major concern because the next one is always the latest and greatest. Same as buying a computer, I guess. Having said that though, I am waiting for Series 2 but purely because late 2004/early 2005 is when I want to buy my next vehicle...nice goal to aim for.
  19. Judging by the angle of the camera from the back seat at some points you can tell the cameraman is reaching for the "Oh-Christ" bar over the window big time :D
  20. Very cool indeed. Love the first photo. Nothing but grey and white. Will admit that HgAg looks pretty decent on the snow, although I imagine it would blend in with the environment well on a day like that. Definitely lights on material. At least you'd have the cardigan to keep you warm
  21. That doesn't surprise me too much. Now that the WOW factor is wearing off (not for owners obviously :D ) demand is starting to catch up with supply (or the other way around depending on whether you're a neo-classical economist or not). Waiting times don't seem to be as huge as what I've read previously. So perhaps more people are willing to do the short wait rather than buy 2nd hand. Plus, I know if I myself I wouldn't buy a 2nd hand sports car unless I knew the owner and their driving habits. As for the Ford exec vehicles, I know I've seen a few of them in the ACT dealers. Quite a few used vehicles with the Prictorian number plates on them. Sending them up the odd truckload wouldn't be too exxey I imagine. In the opposing camp, one of the neighbours across the road bought a VX SS ute from the auctions in Melbourne and got it delivered to Canberra inclusive of the price of $12000 That'd have to hurt the owners.
  22. Surely she could find her own way home without too much difficulty
  23. The sports wheel also seems a bit smaller, so easier to turn to lock etc.

    New Scooter

I think that some serious tattoo-age would be required to ride that thing. Especially given the handlebar brakes.
  25. Maybe Charli and Kathleen.... BTW, must thank Falchoon for the change in avatar. Nice way to start the day seeing that
