Actually, I reckon washing with a hose is more efficient. Me filling up my bucket and then tipping it over my car is going to use more water than my well-aimed trigger hosing.

A bit of good news from ACTEW... Friday 7 November 2003 STAGE 3 WATER RESULTS ENCOURAGING: EXEMPTION GRANTED FOR CAR WASHING Encouraged by the community's response to date under Stage 3 water restrictions, ACTEW is reviewing the water restrictions currently in place for motor vehicle washing. The ACT has been on Stage 3 water restrictions for just over a month and has consistently used less than the October seasonally adjusted target average daily consumption of 127 megalitres, so it has been agreed that from midday today motor vehicles will be able to be washed using a bucket. Acting Treasurer Bill Wood said that community co-operation with Stage 3 restrictions has been good, with the average daily consumption for October being 108.8 megalitres. "Recent rain and cooler weather helped keep consumption down and, although the rain was slightly below average in October, it was well distributed and regular," Mr Wood said. "Residents and businesses deserve praise for their efforts so far however, with the warmer weather approaching, we need to ensure that we keep up the good work by not exceeding daily water consumption targets. "After analysing the Stage 3 water restriction data, the ACT Government and ACTEW have decided to bring motor vehicle washing water restrictions into line with Sydney and Melbourne, so that motor vehicles may now be washed and rinsed with a bucket. "Under Stage 3 conditions, a general exemption has been granted for washing of motor vehicles, effective from midday today. Conditions include: * vehicles must be washed and rinsed with a bucket (or watering can) filled from tap and not a hose; * vehicles must not be washed more than once a week; * hoses are not permitted for washing or rinsing; * where possible motor vehicles should be washed on lawns to avoid run-off. "Those under the Motor Trades Association agreement remain subject to those agreements. "The rain has boosted Cotter catchment dam levels but has not provided much relief to Googong Dam, which is at 36.5% capacity. There is also still a possibility that heavy rain in the Cotter catchment could force sole reliance on Googong," Mr Wood said.

This is one rule I live by, although I find that their degree of traffic awareness is inversely proportional to the size of the brim on their hat. If they've got a full-brim Akubra hat on whilst driving, stay well clear! If you have one behind you, flash your lights as a courtesy to oncoming traffic to be alert.

Funnily enough, it's called "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" by Frank Sinatra...from a time when song naming was much simpler! It's from his "Swing Along With Me" album...early 60s. Goes a little something like this... Please don't talk about me when I'm gone, Oh, honey though our friendship ceases, from now on; And, listen, if you can't say anything real nice, It's better not to talk at all, is my advice. We're parting, you go your way I'll go mine, it's best that we do; Here's a kiss! I hope that this brings lots of luck to you. Makes no difference how I carry on, Remember, please don't talk about me when I'm gone.

Gotta catch them first though. No point ordering the death penalty if you don't know who the little runts were. Hope the damage gets fixed up good as new.

Looks great up there, fellas. How's the duco surviving though, bdennis? Would imagine it wouldn't be hard to cop the odd stone or 10.

Yeah, same here VelvetGlove. Lost some of the ridge capping and tiles on my house. Felt sorry for the poor bas*ard who had to climb up on top of my two storey house while the roof was wet to tarp it up. All's well that ends well though...was thinking about getting a roof tiler to check the roof out and do any required maintenance seeing I have a ducted air con now that dumps water on the roof when it's turned off. Don't have to worry now, and it's covered by insurance :D Although, it was certainly fun driving down Anne Clark Ave. when the storm was going. Was like an ice skating rink! As for the carport idea, it definitely wouldn't have lasted. The cover on the family boat was torn in half.

Cars were alright...I was really disappointed with Alfa Romeo. I was thinking that the 147GTA had the potential to knock the XR off the post for me, but it was very womble on the inside. Having said that, the quality of tail was quite good :D Alfa Romeo and Harley Davidson had some fine examples of the female form. Especially the chick with the short shorts and fishnets at Harley...yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Brought a whole new meaning to owning a Fatboy :D Although my Dad reckoned if I spent anymore time in the XR6-T, Ford would've started charging me rent :D

Don't have one on my work PC, but this is a pretty good likeness. Just add goatee beard :D

I am actually a bit of a rice convertee. I wanted a 200SX R-spec till they discontinued it. Went thru a lull of depression until the XR6-T came along.

That has to be the most sensible comment I have seen on this forum. Good man :o That's me putting it nicely. The cardy comments are as old as their owners now I thinks :D

Heh...Thanks lads. Ken, I am actually pretty patient. Good things come to those who wait. But I'll be sure to consult you on liquor choices should the wait become unbearable. As for the Merc silver for sale, it's not what I want. Intend to get auto, white or lightning strike (going to SMS to see that colour on the GT), prem sound, sunroof, herrod leather & sports steering wheel. As well as being a Series 2 preferably. Was going to do it on the 25th birthday but did renovations on the house. Dang it! Expect to see future milestones as they come!

Well, today strikes the landmark of 400 days till my 26th birthday and anticipated date to go get me a turbocharged birthday pressie. I feel all goosebumpy :D Matt.

Why Don't Road Cars Have In Screen Front Demisters
MattB replied to Falchoon's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Wouldn't a better way be to have a more efficient ventilation system? One of my mates who has a BMW never seems to have much of a problem with fogging up screens. -
Not only would it be an issue that the police would be interested in, but perhaps your local Fair Trading/Consumer Commission as well. That's attempting to sell goods or services using unfair tactics which is interpretable as unconscionable conduct under the Trade Practices Act (s.51AB).

Wow! Thanks for that. Will let you know if I have any success!

mmm...Have tried searching for their MIDI. Can only find tracks like Blue Monday...anyone know where to find it?

Increase in options to include a boot liner for all Falcons as standard, perhaps. Followed by piss-up.

In relation to side airbags, are the Ford ones curtain style and provide head protection or just the regular ones that provide chest level protection?

G'day. Just wondering if anyone knows where I'd find a polyphonic ringtone of New Order's Slow Jam? Got a new phone (Nokia 6610) and rather than going the way of my last phone having it plastered with Hawthorn Hawks ringtones, logos and covers I figured I'd make an XR phone. If anyone knows a spot, it would be most appreciated. Cheers. Matt.

I once used the laser wash and it blasted all of the polish off the car. Never again. If I use the car wash, I'll give it a go with the wash and then use a low pressure rinse. I'll then drive it home (not too far to go) and give it a wipe over with a clean cloth I have set aside before polishing/waxing etc.

You can order an FPV from any dealer in Australia. From Ford's website - a press release from last year. Ford Performance Vehicles Dealers Have Australia Covered The upcoming Ford Performance Vehicles GT, GT-P and Pursuit have caught the imagination of Ford dealers around Australia with 67 already signed up to become authorised Ford Performance Vehicles dealers. FPV Managing Director, David Flint, is delighted at the response from Ford dealers. "The reaction from dealers to the three vehicles currently on our list – and their eagerness for any other potential future models we may produce – has been fantastic. "It mirrors the reaction from customers to the vehicles we displayed at the Sydney Motor Show," said David. "However, just wanting to become a Ford Performance Vehicles dealer isn't enough. All 67 of the dealers we've signed up have agreed to a set of operating principles that will ensure our customers get the best service at all times." Each state and territory will have at least one Ford Performance Vehicles dealer, with dealership locations ranging from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to the centre of Sydney. The dealerships will be easily identified from early 2003 by their prominent Ford Performance Vehicles signage and FPV branded showroom facilities. Although the FPV range of vehicles will be produced in low volumes, each dealer will also have representative FPV models in stock for display and demonstration purposes. "Even though many buyers are already ordering new FPV models sight-unseen before prices are announced, most buyers of premium models need to assess their prospective purchase in careful detail," says David. In addition to the 67 authorised FPV dealers, enthusiasts without access to an authorised dealer can order their vehicle from any one of the 232 Ford retail sites around Australia. "We wanted to give our customers the option of where they buy their vehicle," says David. "While the 67 authorised dealers will have prominent signage, specially trained service staff and vehicles for display and demonstrations, other Ford dealers can sell a vehicle by ordering through an authorised FPV dealer. They will also be provided with the training necessary to handle service requirements." Prospective customers can locate their closest authorised Ford Performance Vehicles dealer by logging on to www.fordperformancevehicles.com.au .
