Hi all I have a ba xr6t auto that I have had an issue with for a while. It always runs rough on cold start , smooth idle on start but as soon as I hit the throttle it stalls. Iam now on my 3rd throttle body (now have a brand new one) after warmed up at idle for a minute it drives ok. After it warns up on a hot day in peak hour traffic it develops a sh*tty idle. Already regapped plugs to.8mm and new coil The most annoying thing I have noticed is when doing a reset of ecu the car drives really well with heaps of torque until after about 200 kms it starts to get really sluggish on acceleration and less responsive I have spent $2000 in workshops trying to diagnose and all they dyno tune it and after 200 kms it's sluggish again I have already tried: New coil packs and plugs New Throttle body and tps New o2 sensor New pcv valve New crank angle and cam sensors Complete replacement used Exhaust Intake manifold gasket Re torque turbo and exhaust manifold bolts Lube boost solenoid Current mods: Heinrich tuned to 260rwkw Monza cooler Walbro pump Typhoon intake Is it maybe due to adaptive learning for the auto trans? Or other issues with the torque converter or clutch packs no engaging properly? Timing being pulled ?

Hi guys where in adelaide is a decent place to get it done? mine is flaring from 2nd to 3rd gear. MV automatics want $2500 for rebuild unknown guy that Bruce Heinrich uses is about 1800 for a rebuild using stock parts. Dont know whether a stally is required as its a daily driver

ok guys just went and bought the BA, was advertised at an unrealistic $17,000, got it for $14k. Its got only 60,000kms and one owner, body is in showroom condition. Heres the link: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?__Qpb=true&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarAll&Cr=0&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&R=10338238&seot=1&__Ntt=xr6 turbo&silo=1011&__sid=12F61E36CE07&keywords=xr6 turbo&__D=xr6 turbo&SearchAction=N&trecs=82&__Ntx=mode matchallpartial&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 901&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany At easter im going to change trans fluid and oil, remove turbo oil filter, replace diff oil, replace thermostat, water pump and coolant, install trans cooler. One thing ive noticed so far is it gets warm in the cabin, ive felt around and the floor pan under drivers seat and around trans tunnel feels warm and also hot on the plastic shroud covering the heater unit unit on drivers side. Not sure if that's normal, dont thing its over heating as the needle hovers around just before the half mark all the time. Second thing is after driving for a while and then pulling up and stopped at lights with foot on brake and in "D" I get a slight surging/pulsing, almost as if your the revs are going up and down constantly. I ve hear this could be TPS

Hi all I just picked up a 2003 xr6 turbo today and its 10 degrees outside tonight but inside the car is about 23 degrees without the fan on. When I do put the fan on the air is about 20 degrees without air conditioning compressor on, which is 10 degrees hotter than outside . which is just drawing the cold air from outside. Ive just come from a mitsubishi 380 and never had this, is this normal? ive felt around and the car is warm around the trans tunnel and pretty warm underneath footwell LHS where the heater core would be? It means id have to drive around with air con on all the time I reckon. Just wondering if others have had this?

Do you have a BA?, what do you think so far since the move away from the 380? The only thing in the 380 id like to bring with me is the interior. Looks more modern than a BA

Yeah just basic mods, intercooler, high flow cat, typhoon intake, 42 or 60lb injectors, walbro pump, valve springs if needed, boost controller and custom cappa tune . Im guessing 280 -300rwkw. Who nows ill probably be happy with 260rwkw after coming from a mitsubishi 380

thanks, yes have to agree with you there, all the xr6ts I have driven around 130 - 150kms had slightly more vague steering and knocking suspension as shocks would be stuffed. that's another reason why the low km BA im looking at relly stood out as well

thanks for your replys guys. Yeah I was thinking the Ba because of the kays I do but everyone says the BF is much better. It seems these cars take ages to sell at the moment too. Maybe I should aim for less rwkw. Every dyno place ive been to are like" you need minimum 300-330 rwkw otherwise its theres is no point bla bla bla" They might be telling people that so they can blow stuff up and go back to them to fix it. Im not raelly concerned about the 0.5litre difference in fuel econmy between ba and bf because a cappa tuner will reduce that and im also going to put it on injected gas. It does concern me if the BA has a really long first gear as I like to be quick off the mark in city traffic. Adeliade performance engineers have a BA demo car which has been running on LPG 350rwkw for past 5 years and I have read alot about it and now been for a run in it.

Hi all im looking at getting my first xr6 turbo. Being thru the forums looking at differences between BA and BF and realise BF has alot of improvements.I have been looking for last 2 months at privately advertised cars and they vary drastically in condition. There are alot of thrashed our heaps of crap out there asking top dollar Iam torn between a BA xr6t made in aug 2003 with 60,000kms, 1 owner and in very good condition and really stands out from others.I have negotiated down to $14,250 over last week with him. Car is only 50 kms from me and never moddded and reason for sale is he bought a new X5 BMW which I believe him. However according to log book it has been services at 7000, 30,000 and 59,000, so lloks like servicing isnt up to scratch http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=10338238&keywords=xr6 turbo&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarAll&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany&__D=xr6 turbo&silo=1011&seot=1&__sid=12F61E36CE07&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 901&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=true&__Ntx=mode matchallpartial&Cr=6&__Ntt=xr6 turbo&trecs=82 The second one is a 2005 BF xr6t. 125,000kms, always serviced by ford and has log books. Car is in Qld and iam in adelaide so I need to factor in $1500 for air fares and car transport. He wont budge on $15,500. Its pre 06/06 so realise it wont ave the typhoon bottom end. Iam a bit worried about all the cheaps ones in QLD ive seen recently thinking maybe to do with floods who knows. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?__Qpb=true&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarAll&Cr=2&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&R=9861556&seot=1&__Ntt=xr6 turbo BF&silo=1011&__sid=12F61E36CE07&keywords=xr6 turbo&__D=xr6 turbo BF&SearchAction=N&trecs=52&__Ntx=mode matchallpartial&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 900&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany I know from the forum the BA will need DBA front rotors eventually whereas the BF already has the premium brakes and the BF has the awesome ZF trans. Iam looking at it as as daily driver and I do 30,000kms per year and also looking to mod to 300rwkw for the occasionaly thrash. Will be 90% used to commute around the metro ares. I also realise the BA 4 speed has a limit of around 300rwkw and has a weaker bottom end. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!!
