Hi guys Just chasing some info as to where can I send an alpine amp to get repaired? The amp is an MRP-M1000 mono block. All the lights turn on but it has no output. Perth would be my preferred choice but as I live 1700kms from there I'd be happy to post it anywhere in aus. Cheers Chris

Is the nissan team/teams an expansion on the existing line up or is it just filling unfilled spots?

Bf Mkii, Intercooler Upgrade, Which One?
knoles replied to FORDCRAZY's topic in Intercooler Workshop
What? doesnt simon like fitting rapid gear? I know he's very insistent on the top quality but is he against the rapids gear? I was on the assumption there was a market for all sellers? Im only asking because my next round of mods is going to be cooler+ extras. -

Rca's And Speaker Wire? Are The Pricy Ones Any Better?
knoles replied to knoles's topic in Audio/Visual Workshop
kerfing is bending the wood using multiple evenly spaced slots cut almost all the way through the piece. Youtube has a few tutorials. Im planning on a 2 - 2.5ft3 box ported to 32-35hz with a flush mounted sub cant wait. I love making doof doof! Just gotta find a descent box program to use now -
Rca's And Speaker Wire? Are The Pricy Ones Any Better?

Thanks heaps guys, exactly what I was looking for. I went with the alpine CDA-117e H/U because im a biased fan of alpine and didnt want the full touch screen as that is what I have now and I hate how it covers the A/con controls & 2 din wont fit. Later on im going to get the imprint thingy-ma-bob to go with it. I got the PDX-M12 & F6 amps too so I cant wait for it all to rock up! It was a close call between the alpine and rockford amps but chose alpine mostly because of size. On another note does any know if I could use fibreglass resin for kerfing wood? or what should I use? Planning on making a new pretty cool sub box! -
Hi guys I've just gone and bought a new head unit and amps for my falcon and am contemplating upgrading the wiring at the same time. Im after peoples experience with using the higher price speaker wire and RCA cables vs the normal run of the mill stuff from super cheap. I am looking at the kicker RCAs and the twisted speaker wire, its quite expensive for wires so just wondering whether or not its worth it? Would there be any gain in sound qual? Cheers Chris

I looked and looked ad couldnt find any of the painted box I did, I have some of a completed boot install but that ones all carpeted and doesnt show any build pics.

Yeah kind of like when you dont clean a paint brush after using it with paint or glue. The resin is the "glue" and the mat is the paint brush. The glasssing is quite a slow process, make sure you make it strong enough. Then putting the body filler over the top and sanding is quite a long and tedious job as well. On outward curves you can use an air or electric sander but the inward curves are fairly hard to get into and I did most of it by hand. The problems I had where getting the mat to attach nicely to the sub mounting rings & the top to bottom join and this is where it cracked eventually and having the paitence to put enough mat down. Im only a hobbyist so maybe a pro could share some tips? Make sure you are in a well ventiated area, should probably wear a respirator, wear goves, put talcum powder on your arms before you touch the mat (this clogs your pores and helps reduce itchiness), have plenty of acetone on hand and have an area set up to clean up once your done. I did the spare wheel well, I brushed on PVA release, let it dry for a while, put resin, mat, resin, met, resin, let it dry, popped it out, chopped it down to size( did this to ensure it would fit back out the boot hole, put it back in, put a heap more layers down to strengthen it, let it dry in place so it didnt distort, tidied up the edges, mounted the sub rings (check it will fit back in the hole), stretched over fabric (apparently spandex is the best as it stretches really good and you dont get the creases) and glassed the top, let that dry, rough sand down, bog, sand, prime, sand, paint, DOOF DOOF.

I had the same idea about 2 years ago of making fully sick fibreglass sub boxes, I made a few. None of them I was ever happy with either the build quality or strength or something was always wrong. Ended up making a wooden box to perfect spec and was alot happier with it. I learnt everything off you tube, theres lots of vids on there.

Fg Style Plenum Or Plazmaman?
knoles replied to TurboMick's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
On XFT's car "2muchkw" they have changed to a front entry plenum so it must be better for the 1000hp range. Dont see many people changing them though from what ive heard so maybe not much to gain compared to cost? -
3.1 Diff Gears For Bfii Xr6T Automatic
knoles replied to adrian_celati's topic in Driveline Workshop
I thought 4 spd XR was a 3.45 ratio and family spec single spinner is 3.23? if it is a 3.23 it would probably be easier to get a ba 4 spd diff from a wreckers? I assume a BA diff will fit a BF that is? -
Might be a diff if it'll go one way an not the other, does it make any noise when driving slowly? Id jack it up n remove the tailshaft & try spinning the wheels and diff input yoke, that'll give you a fairly good idea where the problem is.

Ive heard of people getting 3.23 gears done. I have no idea where from though. Id probably hit up the tuners or diff mobs for more info If you dont really know what your doing ya should just get it rebuilt. could save a heap of cash by removing it yourself though. -
BIg thumbs up here for the GY assymetric 2, my bf foon bearly breaks traction when they're hot, good all round tyre. I'll see how they last, done 5000 so far so good

Its every shut down, long trips, short trips, doesnt matter. Yeah its not really irritating but just making sure. Im saving for a cooler kit and if I have to repair turbo that's a fair old chunk outta the budget. Only had it tuned the other day and they didnt say anything about it, but it was very brief as he was heading out as I was heading in. I let it idle down for about a minute and most of the time its very steady driving.
-
its only quiet, only just loud enough to hear
-
yeah its just turbo spinning down, 5-10 secs. normal?
-
Hi Just wondering, is a very slight turbo noise at shut down normal or is it something to plan in for maintenance? the shaft has minimal play and looks to be in very good condition. Cheers

Id tow truck it, shouldn't tow autos because oil pump is driven by motor and when your towing the gearbox is spinning with no oil feed. tow trucks r cheap. Manuals r fine but there is still a lack of places to tow from.
