  1. I think once you start modding you should be prepared for failures, high maintenance, unreliable money pits. Unless you spend alot of money upfront. Not so much unreliable but when these things fail they fail in a big way which ive heard of heaps of people going months without their cars
  2. And where from?????
  3. Do the GTX's actually make much more power the the gt's? Would they make much difference on a 300rwkw car? Edit: re-read the thread and people say they can make higher power figures, but down in the 300's do they make the power easier/less boost?
  4. They look a little bit bigger then the stockies I think, that's probably its drama.
  5. HAHAHAHA that's still coming. I just need something to do the long perth trips in and something to get out bush and down the beach occasionally. Im racking up too many kms on the phoon too, done 25000kms in less than a year :(. I'll get this rig I reckon then the phoon just does school and weekend spirited runs.
  6. Hi guys I'm looking at getting a patrol as mentioned, its going at a good price, in alright condition, with average kms (205xxx). My only query about the car is, are they normally very sluggish? I only drove it around the industrial area so I didnt have too much road to play with but could only get it to 100. Can you mod these too? I just want enough poke to overtake road trains on the highway. I guess only being a little 2.8TD hauling a large wagon would be a struggle. But only having just over 200000 kms on it id imagine the fuel pump and injectors would be alright? Cheers Chris
  7. Fronts = DEFINETLY worth every it. Million positives, cant think of any negatives. Rears = Havnt done them yet, but judging buy reviews I cant wait
  8. did you guys end up having a look at these boxes? From what I can build to fit in the spot it looks as though it would be struggling to get even close to 1ft*3 per chamber or 2ft*3 all up, id reckon closer to 0.5ft*3 per sub.
  9. When I bought my car it came with a twin 2.5" cat back exhaust and they have welded the stock tips to the rear muffler. Sounds fully sic but looks fully stock.
  10. Does the battery have to be in a box to be legal? Can any one put up photos of how they've secured the battery tray and box to the boot floor? What size battery have you's used? I was thinking N70 AC delco sealed battery as I'm pretty sure I can get one at the right price or going with an optima yellow top.
  11. Ive got the same line as this and it is going brown along both lines, worst at the turbo end but looks to be coming from all the crimps. I'm definitely replacing it, one day, when I can be bothered. Probably wait till the dry season when its not bullsh*t hot.
  12. I asked them about the boxes too and they couldnt even tell me what they where made of, or send me any pics. Im very keen to hear from someone who has one about the quality of the build and volume of the chambers. PLS PLS PLS help someone! I really want one! Cheers Chris
  13. Cheers, I just want to replace the turbo side one as it leaked and it is one of the clear plastic coated types. I get good deals at enzed so that's what im going for, and its local and a real company, not ebay.
  14. So, on the hose issue. Would the braided hose and fittings you could get from enzed or pirtek be as good a quality as the speedflow or would this be an inferior product? I just want to make up new hoses for my inline filter. I assume it would be fine as they make alot of hoses without issues.
  15. Suspension was the first thing I did, important if your cars done a few k's, then tune and good quality performance parts. I spent a whole heap on my stereo and now wish I could take it all back for a refund to get more go fast bits EDIT: goodyear eagle f1 assy 2 tyres are a win
  16. Just read its going in a wagon. Go 2 x 12s in the best ported box to suit the subs. It will be big and heavy but should sound great. will require some serious power for those subs. MX Dave, How does your elect system handle that much stereo? have you put your battery in the boot or do run a big capacitor?
  17. I have 2 alpine r's on a pdx 1200w rms amp. They are in a sealed box now and sound alright but a proper ported box gives the best sound I reckon. It depends on how much boot space you want to take up. 1 x 15 in the perfect box would probably sound better the 2 subs in an insufficient box. The box is a huge factor in the sound of the subs
  18. Makes sense to me if the engine is at high revs with full boost, like valve bounce? But what causes rough running after the revs & boost drop? Cheers Chris
  19. Hi folks what IS valve float? what exactly happens?
  20. 2nd hand "bargains" off ebay. From now on everything new, top quality, sufficient for more power and off a real company - not ebay!
  21. So what exactly did you end up keeping out the kit? It might be worth just getting the trans line fittings and sourcing the rest from elsewhere? Judging from the furious_8 ebay listing it looks as though the coolant lines just get joined together with a brass hose joiner. The trans lines fittings are barbs on one end to join to rubber hose. So if you get the trans line fittings and a descent cooler, maybe a PWR, the rest of the stuff could just be sourced from your local auto store? What type hose lasts best for this application? Who has mounted fans on these and does it fit in the front bumper?
  22. Great write up! How does the glass stick to the sub ring, is it just stuck there with the resin or do you reinforce it from behind or something? Obviously there's the wooden braces but is that all?
  23. I think all the b series turbo exhausts are the same bar the cats change a bit to comply with emissions targets
  24. Cheers spinr. You pointed out a few things I hadnt really considered .
  25. It would be worth getting them to have a look at least. If I can get it repaired for under $150-$200 I'd be happy. Then with my old stereo parts (I have already replaced this amp so I couldn't care how long it lasts) I have a full setup, DVD head unit, 2 x subs, 2 x amps, splits & 6x9s. Selling a full setup I reckon would be much easier than an "almost complete stereo".
